To those bashing "Heaven 17," his name is Glenn Gregory. He is now in his 50s, and time takes a toll on any singer's vocal chords. Interestingly, one of LaRoux's influences is Heaven 17. One day Elly will be in her 50s and not exhibiting the vocal dexterity she enjoys today in support of some 20-something-year-old's hit song. So let's cut "Heaven 17" some slack. It's great to see a past star of the early 80s new wave movement together with a superstar of today's new wave revival.
It's funny all these comments saying he's ruining the La Roux song because on the Temptation collaboration, everyone is saying she is ruining the Heaven 17 song. It's why people write songs in their own style to suit their strengths. Few people have the range and dexterity to sing anything.
His vocal style doesnt really fit the track, but they work well together. He is almost more of a crooner! I have a lot of respect for him, being old enough to remember Heaven 17 the first time around, and the gig as a whole was really cool. Nice chemistry. Def worth a look if you havent seen it all.
I saw this when first aired (about 10 times running!) on BBC8. Couln't believe how good it was and how many here state otherwise. The Numan/Little Boots collaboration was truely awlful though.....I say that with sadness as original Numan is awesome.
@BooiBam i personally prefer this version, i suppose its what ever floats my boat, glen gregory is a distinctive singer, so is elly, i thought it was an interesting, i like 'different' versions of tracks, this was 1 of those :)
@unclebitch Are you sure? They have two drummers, one from La Roux' band and one from Heaven 17. Maybe the second is just not playing here. I don't hear a lot of drums...
It might just be me but they seem to sing their own songs brilliantly but struggle with each other’s ( in for the kill / temptation ) - might be to do with the key they’re in ? brilliant effort though

Love both their voices so much!!

I really love this, 2 of my favourite artists from different eras together.
pure class....what a perfect combination.....musical passion all round
Electronic history melds for today...... perfect.
he still sounds good. They need a comeback album!
Absolutely fantastic performance & pairing :-)
her voice is just amazing!!!! :)
You are absolutely right. His voice fits the very classic Heaven 17 style, but he is doing a very good job here - and he has obviously fun.
Legends!!!!! Works well. Loved it
Great version. Glenn Gregory still rocks. I adore Ellie's voice.

I love it.
Always loved Glen. He looks like he knows he's the luckiest guy in the world and a grin like a Cheshire Cat!
Love it !!
Love it! Thanks
why do I feel like subliminally I'm being brain washed to go out and get soft serve ice cream....
she's beautiful!
Brilliant
omfg this guy murdered her song.
Thanks for publishing this, whynotandy!
Just for the record this took place in Studio 3 at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios, not at Abbey Road.
i love that girl.
I like this take, actually
Nice idea! Not perfect- but almost! I listen to this all the time/often!
Tin tin :P
"Oh Glen" XD
oh glen!
0:10 - 0:14 is my favourite part! How she points to him and all (: Lol.
Him?
Ever noticed that the opening riff sounds like tom petty/heartbreakers "you got lucky".
Alistair Sims and Ray Winstone!
elly the best jaajja
the heaven 17 guy murdered this song.
He really didn't
@slinkyskunk They were there and they were interviewed for the session
@unclebitch Check "Heaven 17 - (We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang", this is the drum set of the Heavan 17's drummer.
heaven17 me encanta y la roux, pero esque heaven 17 en estas canciones se sale. :D
La Roux? Heaven 17's bastard love child. A back stairs kind o' love gone wrong. He still loves the kid though.
What does Elly say at the end?
Had this on loop when it first aired, didn't care for the little boots/Gary Numan stuff though
@Booibam - Without him there would be no her....
@BooiBam i personally prefer this version, i suppose its what ever floats my boat, glen gregory is a distinctive singer, so is elly, i thought it was an interesting, i like 'different' versions of tracks, this was 1 of those :)
this is good, prefer her original, but great combo x

@whynotandy Didn't Ian quit?
@chacho6011 sooooooooooo funny !
if im not mistaken, someone's using facebook on their laptop @ 1:45
Heaven 17 killed this song. Elly was amazing on the few parts and the 'ooohs' she sang
@koti1100 Glenn Gregory
i actually prefer this version
it's a mash-up of old electro & new ... check your music history
It might just be me but they seem to sing their own songs brilliantly but struggle with each other’s ( in for the kill / temptation ) - might be to do with the key they’re in ? brilliant effort though
That's just Glenn Gregory, I don't see Martyn or Ian there.
Don't complain. very possitive performance + c.ronaldo on drums 3:57
Who is that?
the heaven 17 dude
his voice sounds bad when he sings alone but when they sing together it's about good
la roux unreal.... but he does nt sing tis tuuuune wel alongside her
yeah, it's like one of those bad karaoke attemps
dont you mean HEN EGGEREY lol
I think she shakes her head and says "Glenn" because he shakes her hand as they have both just sung "now let go of my hand".
#corny
wow I love elly Jackson and heven 17 but he was really out of tune. he should leve in for the kill for elly to just sing xxxxxx
she look mad
Sounds like la roux is being murdered whith tea spoon
Sorry, but he can not sing, he is totally killing the song. Elly sounds amazing as per usall
omg it sounds so better without heaven 17!!!! i think this version is so bad!!
I know rightt.
The whole show was great to watch, I think La Roux just needs better vocal training and she can hit those higher notes in Temptation.
love Elly but him signing did not go well with this song
glenn's a legend but whatever this is, it's not 'singing'
oh my gosh!! wtf is this dude!? he's like taking elly's spotlight! let her sing!
Take Glenn out and you have a good song.
he killed this song. made it sound horrible. i hate this version of this song
horrible!! MAKE HIM SHUT UP!
I just love Heaven 17, but the singer sounds so shitty next to Elly (who's not such a good singer herself but she's charismatic) it makes me cringe.
Not bad, but not too good, either. She's great in what she does, though.
I think it sounds better with just Elly. His style doesn't fit her songs
the worst version ever. heaven 17...awful.
Cringeworthy.
