No, we need a BCS playoffs. The BCS never got the top 4 wrong. If any expantion happens it should be to 6. The five major conferences all have a chance to get in the playoffs and one at large.

All Klatt promotes is Big ten teams or big 12 teams. He's a midwest and west coast guy. Clemson is the only team that should be in the discussion of top five teams of all time now being they are trying to win 30 straight. I've always said that don't do 8 teams in a playoff ( although I'd surely watch ) haha. They should do 6 and give the 1 and 2 a bye.... Usually the top 6 are pretty close where 8 is a bigger gap... Yes there would be plenty of drama deciding 1 and 2 for the bye but it's all drama. Haha.

Every player on defense made the pros. The backups were Bobby Carpenter, A.J. Hawk, Will Allen. They also made the pros.

Nah fam; that would be Oklahoma. Boomer sooner baby, if we are going to be best of all time. In the 50s, they went 44-0 before losing, and going through more season than Clemson undefeated to do it; because they didn't have these 14-16 game seasons (playoffs). It was so long and so good, that the media outlets of today ran articles about how they couldn't be beaten, they were that good; and when they finally lost, it was a total shocker.
That was far more impressive than this Clemson run; when comparing it all. That was almost impossible to do in those days, for a few reasons that make it easier today.
This Clemson team is not 30-0.

I for one don’t understand the love affair with osu. Very good big ten team, could win it all. Won’t play an elite offense until the championship assuming Utah makes the playoff. Big ten does a great job of making osu look amazing.
Lets put it like this.
Indiana is scoring 31.5 ppg... They put up 10 on OSU (Ohio States defense scored 9 in that game)
Penn State is scoring 35 ppg.. They put up 17 on OSU and 10 were off fumbles in the redzone (those drives combined for 23 yards of offense)
Wisconsin is scoring 35.5 ppg... They put up 7 on OSU.
And that's not even getting into their offense which put up 5.4 and 3.8 yards per rush against Wisconsin and Penn State respectively who are giving up 3.4 and 2.4 yards per rush each. (Penn State was #1 in that category before playing OSU and dropped to second. Wisconsin ranks 20th right behind Auburn and Florida)
The only real question with Ohio State is their passing game. Can Fields show up against Clemson's pass protection?... Maybe? He hasn't looked that great this year, but he also is mostly playing second fiddle to the run game.

The difference is OSU is in the Top 5 for both offense and defense, while LSU is busy giving up 600+ yards to Top 60 teams....

When they talk about 8 team playoff, they always argue from assumptions and Snowball Effect. All 5 power conferences need a representative. Point blank, simple as that. Then grab ucf or boise st, or whoever is best in the Group of 5 conferences. 2 wild card spots.

William Jackson If they win it all, it will absolutely be a conversation but when you really look at the talent on that 2014-15 team it’s incredible. 5 first round picks including one of the best young pass rushers in Joey Bosa. And arguably the best RB in the league right now in Zeke. Not to mention the highest paid receiver of all time in Michael Thomas. This team is special too but I’ve never seen a more dominant buckeye team than 2014. I obviously still want our guys to win this year however. Go Bucks! O-H

16 team playoff would be perfect. That way, like every other sport, you have to beat other teams in a playoff to actually be crowned Champion, instead of a computer choosing and a group of guys deciding who's best on paper......
This Ohio State team is good, but I don't think they touching that 2015 Ohio State team. Only time will tell but man, that was some good NFL talent Urban put together.
I understand the regular season will be devalued but it already is. Teams like Alabama and Clemson don’t schedule against really good teams away. They schedule byes and fcs teams before rivals anyway. The regular season counts more than conference championships is sad. People are literally making excuses for teams who lose. Make it 8 team playoff. It’ll force teams to at least have a top 8 opponent on they’re schedule if not top 5 to even be considered a champion. Sec and Acc don’t schedule 9 conference teams like most conferences now.
If LSU wins out, they will have beaten 7 top 10 teams on the season. SEVEN. Yet no mention by either. And lol at Chase Young winning the Heisman.

Unless your team is one of a small handful of maybe 10 teams, as soon as your team loses the first game their done. So you lose half the country after week one. And if you're one of those handful of teams then you're done as soon as you lose your second game. So for 90% of the country the regular season is important for about 3 weeks.
i disagree with joel. an automatic bid will encourage scheduling more competitive non-conference opponents in order to improve a teams resumè just in case they lose a conference game. all games would still be important because in most conferences they’re are two to three great teams so there’s no guarantee to win their conference

I love how the pro Ohio State analysts grovel over how good their defense is, when Chase Young is literally their only asset who can be neutralized against a quick pass game like LSU. I'll concede that LSU defense has been below par most of the season, coming from an LSU fan.
But LSU is loaded in the secondary and we got back one of our best d-lineman in Michael Divinity. They mention how teams can run the ball on LSU, but you can't run faster than throwing the ball in the air. No one can match LSU offensively and OSU defense can't just rely on Chase Young. They have only faced teams who can't throw the ball (Wisconsin) or straight garbage (Maryland and Rutgers). The BIG TEN is slowly becoming the ACC without actually proving they belong in the playoff, as Clemson has competed against Bama in all 3 championship games and won twice.
Donovan Aikens OSU literally has 3 first round picks in the secondary. And it’s not just chase young. It’s the entire defensive line. LSU has a suspect offensive line to boot.
Donovan Aikens Young is their only asset? Their secondary is gonna have a top 10 pick and 3 more players taken before Day 3. OSU is DBU now face it. Big 10 has elite coaches and programmes. Michigan Wisconsin Iowa all elite for several years, plus Minnesota and Michigan St have been better the last while than garbage like Arkansas, Tennessee and Vandy in the SEC.
@@chickentenders3018 Jordan Fuller is a 1st rounder, not the other two. LSU has 3 actual first rounders, with Delpit and Fulton going this upccoming draft, and Stingley going in two years. We also locked up the #1 CBs in 2020 and 2021.
@@colmanrandle8644 How can you compare the best of your conference with the worst of the SEC? And LSU will have 2 top 10 DBs next draft. What elite receivers have they faced at OSU? Face it, your conference is turning into the ACC, and eventually you won't get the credit like Clemson does because you don't schedule big out of conference games.
And you can't sit here and say that y'alls d-line will play much of a factor in past games against a team like LSU, who you haven't and won't play against until the playoff, and expect the same results. The ball will always travel faster than Chase Young, no matter how good your defense may be. It'll will come down to who can limit touchdowns in the red zone, break up plays in the secondary, and force punts.

@Christian Hernandez True, but it also depends on the offense. It hurts a passing team far worse; for obvious reasons. Slippery ball, harder to catch better; but it isn't quite as hard to secure the ball with a good run game.
Not that it helps either offense doing it's thing; but don't give me that about how "it hurts all teams the same"; no, it hurts some teams more than others.

As a Buckeyes fan I’ll say that Tom Osborne’s Nebraska teams from the 90s were juggernauts and one of them could easily be best team ever. 2001-2004 USC Trojans with Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, and Mike Williams also had a dynasty and would sleep their way to a national championship today. The 2001 Miami Hurricanes had a sick team that was terrifying and is up there for discussion. This topic is wide open and based on YOUR personal opinions lol.

Would love to watch Clemson Ohio State,as much as I love LSU's effort against Alabama,I think Ohio State would have a tougher time against Clemson versus LSU in an NCAA title game.
Ohio state this year IS better than LSU. OSU loses a top 3 coach and gets BETTER? Without Burrow LSU has no chance and will be mediocre next year. LSU let Texas and Vandy score 38 points on them and beat Texas by 7 and squeaked by Auburn by 3. I'm glad that LSU is doing well but Ohio State is a more complete team hands down

I love an 8 team playoff. Conference champions of power 5 conferences with 3 team at large bids. Now, 1, 2, 3 and 4 hold home field games the first round...5, 6, 7, and 8 are visitors...Now, you talk about revenue explosion, wow! Sorry guys, 8 teams are great. GO OHIO STATE.

In every major sport BESIDES cfb, every team ends their season on a low note except the champion. Either you lose in the championship or you don't make the playoffs. College football is unique because so many teams can end the season on a high note. So many levels of success. It keeps people interested.
In years past Big Ten teams were happy with a Rose Bowl. Not the case anymore, even just with the four team playoff. We have already undermined the bowl games with the four team playoff. Expanding will only be worse.
