    what a great mic! Rode products never disappoint. Great video and if was recorded on this new mic… just amazing from a $250 mic. how much post production did you do?

      The only post production was on the video side, the audio is the raw sound from the mic on the day😊

    For recording vocals, what is the sequence of steps that you recommend to make the voice sound better?
    For example, for the following, what should the proper order be?
    EQ, Normalize, removing noise, compress.
    🙂

    Ok, but what with my current rode ai interface, I just plug that 5th gen mic straight into a pc and bypass my current rode ai interface ? What do I do to get the best results ? And where do i plug my headphones ? I know it maybe sounds like a silly question, but I just want to figure out that chain

    Great review. I have a question regarding the versatily offered by this USB-C connection: would you be able to plug it into an Android Smartphone, and would it be recognised and used as primary microphone by the camera app of that smartphone when recording videos?

    • @musicaldistributors1969
      @musicaldistributors1969  Рік тому +4

      So the NT1 5th gen won't be compatible with smartphones unfortunately. Smartphones can't provide enough power for this type of microphone to work.
      Although there are plenty of other options that are made to work with smartphones! Check this out:

      @@musicaldistributors1969 Thanks for the answer. I've seen those kits but it does not really answer my needs. I'm really looking forward to some type of XLR & USB mic that I could use both from my laptop and my smartphone (android). I know it's a little niche but I'm sure sooner or later this type of mic will exist (or at least I hope so 😅)

    Is there any latency with using this mic via USB?

    • @musicaldistributors1969
      @musicaldistributors1969  Рік тому +1

      This has the custom-built Revolution™ preamp which was made from the ground up, you won't have any latency issues at all :)

    • @musicaldistributors1969
      @musicaldistributors1969  Рік тому

      As far as we know this wont work on ipad mostly because it cant get enough power from the unit. Plug it into a computer or mixer and you're set :)

    NT-1 is a really, really good microphone, but building a USB interface with no latency free monitoring is a big fail. Antelope Axino has done it, also with a lot of effects (otherwise, Antelope have software developing dilettants on start and the product is not stable, so I would never recommend it for professional use).

    Lol, if you gainstage properly 24 bit is more than enough dynamic range. Really so is 20 bit.

    • @musicaldistributors1969
      @musicaldistributors1969  Рік тому +2

      for most applications you are so right!
      But with 32-bit float, you won't even need to set your gains before hand, you can normalise after recording to right gain level and lose no detail at all. So there's no risk in losing any detail in your recording

    This is going to pump up the price, adding in a digital circuit that no one asked for with the NT1. Its also going to introduce more whirrr and noise and hum.... REJECT DIGITAL!!!!

    • @NateNakao
      @NateNakao Рік тому +1

      I'm sure everyone will be running tests to see how much self noise is introduced, but we already know that the price of the new NT1 is $10USD lower than the previous generation.

      You will be double-surprised! It is even quieter than the older model (4 dBA vs 4.5 dBA of self noise). And the price is about the same, too - no pumping!
      R0DE made a real gem with this one.

      I bought one used, but in mint condition for £90 UK.Only thing absent was the xlr and usb cable. Is there anything proprietary about the cables that are normally included...maybe in terms of width of connectors? Just wondered incase most regular cables are a tight fit, or won't fit with the two connection types inside the mic.
      Rodes sell them individually, but quite pricey I think.
      Thanks!
