I been a sneaker head for 20 years.. had every hype beast shoes you can Imagine. My basic 574's that all costed under $100 have got me the most compliments in my entire life... just gonna leave it at that hahah
Simple classics are always the best imo

I am not a sneakerhead but everybody has Jordans now. They all just kind of blend in with each other and don't pop or stick out anymore. Nobody really rocks New Balance. So, they stick out more. At least where I live. That is how I feel.

Great video review!! I've just ordered some 996 trainers. I've had 574s before in the past and the quality is second to none however im not keen on the squared taper at the end of the feet anymore I wanted a trainer more with a pointed style at the end. I would of thought pound for pound the 996s would of had the double stitching hence the more expensive price rather than the cheaper 574 versions having them? Again great video keep up the good work and stay safe pal!

squared toe box is what you want for your feet as they naturally contour to the shape of your toes and dont squish them inward like a V. Pointed style is the worst toe box for your feet for that reason. Just ask any podiatrist. But at the end of the day, they're you're feet.

These two pairs are some of the best looking shoes ever made. The 996 is gorgeous.

Well I’m not in high school or college lol but I do want these for work. Are they good for standing for long periods of time?
I saw in another comment you said that the 574's were in the grey colorway but in pictures they look much darker than in the video. These look closer to the nimbus cloud colorway than the grey but I'm not sure if it's just the lighting. I just want to make sure I get the right pair. Great video btw!

@@TheSecondLoft Yeah I had the same question. Your 574s in this video look like a really light grey, and don't look like the classic grey 574s. *Just checked and I'm 100% sure you have the nimbus cloud colorway.

The shoe lace length is also that long because you haven't fully laced the shoes up, if the runner's loop or even upper eyelets were used the laces would be shorter. Plus you can just buy shorter/longer laces, whatever your preferences are, laces are replaceable.

Thanks for the comparison, loved it! Quick question: do you where the same size in both the models? I wanted to try a pair of 996 but since I have to buy it online I was wondering if I should get the usual size I wear with the 574's.
I had the same size for both and they fit the same. 996 feels realllllyy little bit looser but that can easily be adjusted by tightening your laces.

I have wide feet, so I choose half size up for the 996. because the 996 is narrower than 574
That 966 in the video is made in USA. Mine (cm996bg) have printed back "newbalance" like the 574 in the video, and the insole is the same as the 574. I have it for very steal price ~55 usd (1.250.000 vnd) and it's one of the most comfortable shoes i own. So i won't spend that much for the made in USA version unless you're American and support your country product.

Helps me a lot. First time to buy a 574 sneakers and i don't know how to wear it in style. I just used mine going to work as i thought its just a simple walking shoes.

Live in Southern Mississippi, which pretty much stays super hot and humid, and I’ve been wearing and loving 574’s for well over 20 years! Same for my husband.

How is the fit of the 996 vs 574? Are either wider than the other? Do they feel similar?
996 has more cushioning but width is about the same
@@TheSecondLoft thanks! The 574 just look wider in most pictures. I've been nervous to order a pair of the 996 or 997 because they look narrow, and I have wider feet. However, all my 574 fit my feet well.
I had 574s on 1989....they are long running model.
996 is such a good shoe. Have you tried the 1600jp? Some similarities in design.
They are amazing! Never tried 1600jp. Would love to try them on someday if I could find them in Toronto haha

so they are not the classic then

I went for TTS and don't have any trouble with it.
70 bucks more in USA? Here in Germany the 996 are only 10-20€ more expensive and for some colors there isnt a price difference at all. Definitely going for these then, thank you very much :)

you might be talking about non made in usa 996s, the ones in the video are made in usa however some 996s arent. if they are made in usa thats a steal

When it comes to classic comfortable sneakers new balance is the best. There is a reason that 574s have remained relevant for 3 decades. they are the most comfortable sneakers ever

I would suggest US 10 if you don't have any preference on shoes. Personally, I like it a bit bigger than my size so I would go 10.5

That’s a really good idea! Although for myself and many Asians, our feet is shaped a bit higher around the insteps so it hurts for me 😭
