The real question is how was Yul so ripped? He looks like a professional athlete and Ozzy was still beating him in challenges. Kudos to both Survivor Legends!
Ozzy is a beast, after all this years he has been running, surfing, swimming, playing, and living in the nature more than a lot of us. Having a good body doesn't mean someone is above someone else. For example in season 7 the first player to leave the game looked so fit, but he can't managed to follow the rythm of the game
Being totally ripped may even be a disadvantage in Survivor, if you have 0 body fat and no calorie intake for a month then your body has to eat the muscles. Also, Ozzy is Mogli.
To be fair, part of the reason no one has beaten Ozzy’s time on that pole challenge is because they need an opponent who can also beat his time, because once you are the last one left, the challenge is over and you have to drop.
Actually someone has beaten him and it was Tai on season 34. But I don’t remember if he had beat his time or not, Tai was up there for around a 1 1/2 or so. Just a fun fact
Do you have to drop though? I remember 20 years ago on russian Survivor there was a celebrity season, and right before final three they competed in a challenge where your hand is tied to a rope, and if you put it down a bucket of water falls on you and you lose. So there was this guy, a pretty accomplished actor, who said he would stand there for 5 hours, and even after he won, he still stood there alone for quite some time. Amazing willpower
yul is a complete creep. I wouldn't trust him as far as i could throw him. turns my stomach . he symbolizes perfectly his world in law completely deceptive and decrepit. I'd never want to see him EVER AGAIN on Survivor. Unless there is a new show called Liars.
I think people give Yul way too much credit. The only reason he could accomplish most of it was finding the super idol. Without it everything wouldn't have been possible, and this was an example of how overpowered it is and not in a good way. It's clearly just a cheat code when someone who is not stupid gets it.

Additionally, most strategic performances often include a lot more backstabbing and betrayal where as Yul’s was very true and straightforward to those around him.
While it was impressive how quickly he found the idol, the fact it's a super-idol made his gameplay very straightforward as there was a clear path to the final 3. If there was a single challenge where the idol couldn't be played (such as final 4), then Yul would've lost.
@@domskillet5744 It would definitely be clear to us now, but probably not as clear as it would've been back then. The fact that Yul was able to take advantage of the super idol so well that it lead to his win is still very impressive.
They are both completely respectable ways of playing the game. I think that if we are being fair Ozzy earned the win more than Yul did based on his performance. Like, there comes a point where you just have to look and see the guy spear fishing like a boss and winning 5 individual games in a row and just admit that he deserves to win. Yul played the political game well but did he play it equally well to how Ozzy played his game? I don't think so. Ozzy went down as a legend whereas Yul just went down as the guy who won.
A great Top 2 from this season. Between them, we were guaranteed a worthy winner, and the thing that is so cool is that they really couldn’t have gotten there without each other. They had different strengths that were so complementary. Still the greatest top 2 ever, IMO.

Loved the video, but I’m surprised that it wasn’t mentioned that Yul won in large part based on swinging Adam’s vote. Because Adam perceived Yul as the puppet master, Yul eventually leaned into it and promised Adam that he’d vote off Penner before him and Parvati in exchange for Adams jury vote (Parvati promised too but ended up voting for Ozzy anyway). Adam said at the reunion had they not made that deal, he would have voted for Ozzy.
I like this season of survivor. Yul and ozzy both deserve to win. They did it with their strength and brain and didn't really go so far to forget their morals just to win.
I was thinking about how different Ozzy's Survivor career would have been if he won Cook Islands. He definitely isn't on either Micronesia or South Pacific, and he seems like a lock to be on Winners at War. Maybe he makes his first return on Heroes v. Villains.
@@OnceUponAnIsland yul was suposedly asked to play micronesia when its supposed to be a full all stars but he turned down If he lost cookislands i think he maybe would play in micronesia or HvV
I think it would have sealed his legacy as opposed to now it’s slightly tainted. Most people I know are turned off from his attitude in future seasons. I do think he would’ve been a lock as a hero on HvV.
If yul on micronesia, the season would change like a lot,He def at least made it to the merge,I'll actually think he would be the challenge beast in the season.
Ozy was front and centre, the spotlight alwys on him and his victories. While Yul was the shadow broker, controlling the game. But despite being in the shadows, he didn't play a dishonest game. He made his alliance, made it strong, and used his connections nd leverage to protect his own.
This is BY FAR my favorite season! The person who won absolutely deserved it! And when it was just them 4 after the betrayal it was AMAZING to see them go on that unstoppable run! Jonathan made the biggest mistake by flipping and lost his best chance to win by making a stupid, split second decision. Yuel and Ozzy are two of my favorite players ever.

That’s literally fucking cool tho 😅😂 My parents absolutely would have named me that if I was born around that time, I was watching the show with them as a kid when this was airing
Man I had such a huge crush on Yul when I first watched the first episode of Cook Islands lmao he is such an attractive man, on top of being a genuinely good guy and very smart.. total package. Such a cutie. 😍
This will be debated forever but in my opinion Ozzy played the better game. He became the meal ticket and at the same time he made it impossible to get voted out because he kept winning immunity and he never had to blindside anyone nor did he have to go around and beg. He just bet on himself which rarely ever works and I think that was why he lost because he came off as arrogant. Ozzy is a Top 5 player in Survivor history.
I don’t think winning all the challenges alone should ever be rewarded with the million dollars unless there is no other choice. A well rounded player is much more interesting to me. Winning all the immunity challenges involves too much luck and good circumstances for my taste, a good social game is much harder to accomplish in my opinion.
The social game matters. The social game will always matter. The mental game matters. The mental game will always matter. The motto has three parts to it for a reason
My father had a friend who worked at Geico. His daughter applied for Survivor and she got on. She just so happened to be Elizabeth Hasselback from the Australian outback. I would very much appreciate if you made a detailed video on her game like you do with so many other survivors.
@@aperson22222 I'm actually surprised the patrons didn't pick Elisabeth in the first place. I mean, I know that the Australia cast was pretty loaded, but she's without a doubt one of the most famous Survivor players ever.
I believe yul had the most dominant performance of all time, was never blindsided by a vote, knew all possibilities at each tribal council and like is mentioned multiple times, ran the game, ozzy got votes because people are haters and are mad yul was able to run the game as well as he did, when you boil survivor down it’s about you’re ability to control who gets voted off and when, ozzy was only good at one aspect of that and that was making sure he didn’t get voted off himself
He was also never voted out simply because he really couldn’t be voted out. The idol being able to be played after the votes are read was extremely overpowered. The other alliance could never vote him or any of his close allies out or else one of themselves would be going home. His own alliance couldn’t flush out the idol as well or else the other alliance would get a free vote against theirs. I think yul did play an amazing game but his idol played like a 60-70% factor in that win.
Yuul is also hot AF. Did anyone mention that? When do people mention that???? Yuul is sooooo attractive. Also intelligent, and a nice man. Also seems a bit sensitive. He’s amazing.
The stretch that it took to get Candace on the Heroes tribe in HvV is still mind blowing to me. Her, Parvati, Nate, and Adam were the worst!! Felt so good to see them eliminated.
Cao Boi techniques for curing headache is very much Viet based lol the philosophy is similar to how cupping work. You gather the blood to area of pain/injure and direct the body to fix the area. It's more efficient if you have eagle green oil/tiger balm, but whatever works right? In modern day, having a red mark is not pretty, so you will see people having like patches that warm up the area (to increase blood flow) on their forehead instead
It must really have sucked to be Becky sitting next to Yul and Ozzy, grasping at straws trying to come up with reasons you deserve to win over them. And then once it's all over like Yul and Ozzy go down as absolute LEGENDS, while Becky is just kinda the extra nobody who embarrassingly couldn't make fire lmao that sucks man. I liked Becky. Like I don't understand why they're so mean about it when a player doesn't play a great game. Like she clearly did better than ALL of them, since she's in the final 3 and they're not.. I mean it has to come down to jealousy, right? I guess I could maybe understand them ignoring her/not asking her a question.. but it was like some of them would go out of their way to be mean and they all enjoyed it way too much. It was sick. It was like.. the same kind of gross as Eddie's (from FvF2) disgusting reaction to Brenda making Dawn take her teeth out. I just don't understand where the hatred comes from. Why does she deserve to be treated like sht? It's fcked up.
Right? She was part of the Aitu 4 and Yul doesn’t get as far as he does without working with her from the start. Maybe it was sexism especially since she’s more of a team player and flexible personality whereas Ozzy and Yul were such dominant personalities.
What makes it worse is she is remembered for one thing...the fire making challenge. Both her and Sundra get stuck with that one event as their main survivor accomplishment despite their contributions to the Aitu 4.
I don’t think Becky necessarily played better than all the others who got eliminated before her. I think she was just lucky to have sparked a friendship with Yul at the very beginning before anyone else could. I also don’t think anyone hated her. The only person that really dissed Becky was that one chick who tried to seduce Ozzie.
She wasn't treated like shit though, at least not by the jury. Many of them gave her a chance to make her case and they seemed to actually like her personally, it's just that Yul and Ozzy had much more impressive resumes.
The temptation I would have, as a council member, to purposefully throw my vote Becky's way because of a tie as a final vote scenario would be quite high.
I enjoyed this cook islands season a lot. Ozzy and yul were great players and they both deserved to be in finals. It is sad becky was seen as being dragged. 53:46 that was symbolic it was just 2 way, becky not being there and has to be called
These Jury were so mean to Becky. I understand she played the worse outta the three but they didn’t need to hammer it in Hell one of the jury descriptions coulda just said this Yul- The Godfarther Ozzy- The Warrior Becky- The Supporter
That was a good video I never seen survivor before. That yup guy seemed like a good fella where ozzy comments seemed stereotypical to win him favor. He was a lone wolf in a game vs a tactical genius who brought 2 others to the finals.
Lol Yul is a real godfather, nowhere at any moment he had any distrust that his teammates would act any other than what he knows they would. He not only might have even predicted Penner's flip, seeing as he already knows the guy's a selfish man, but he also got him to convert back, only to make him get hated and voted out while Yul cleaned his hands off that vote, because that was a vote from Parvati's group mostly.
I've always liked Yul. But I didn't like Ozzy in the pre-merge and I haven't liked Ozzy on any other season, but you can bet I absolutely loved the Aitu four, including Ozzy. The couple of episodes after the mutiny are some of the most I've been invested in Survivor history. The Aitu four story is amazing.
Yul 100%. Even besides how arrogant and unlikable ozzy becomes in his later seasons, Ozzy was only even considered somewhat on Yul's level bc he was good at challenges, fishing, and climbing trees..? I'm sorry but if I were on a survivor jury.. I'm not giving someone $1 million bc they can swim fast and throw coconuts into a net faster than everyone else lol
Adam promised to vote for Yul if he voted out Penner before Adam, otherwise he would have voted for Ozzy. Yul making the strategic move of taking out Penner sooner helped him get the win.
This is a very interesting video. I didn't know how infrequent no votes all votes has taken place. It makes more since why Cochran is often cited as one of the best winners of the game.
This is a great video but I'd say that saying yul vs ozzy is brain vs heart doesn't feel totally accurate to me. I feel like Yul was extremely emotional and tormented throughout his game and actually valued his relationships for personal reasons as well as strategic ones where as ozzy didn't really have friends I'm this game at all. I mean the first decision he makes is to throw a challenge and get rid of one of the members of his team so there's less mouths to feed. That feels very heartless and calculated to me

@@amrtvideo I think he's a kinder person than that, despite your feelings on lawyers. But that's why he's fun to watch, he is devious.
@@KingsNerdCave he was not fun to watch him try to manipulate other promising to protect them until he voted them out . the guy is a snake in the grass nothing more.
@@amrtvideo Who did he promise then take out other than Penner? Cause he made a promise to 3 people, and those 3 people were with him in the final 4.
Christina’s idea to catch the chickens is straight out of a looney toons cartoon .
Adam said at the reunion had they not made that deal, he would have voted for Ozzy.
yul is so kind and socially aware. i love his game
Villains.
I wonder if Yul is on Micronesia or HvV if Ozzy wins this season.
@@OnceUponAnIsland yul was suposedly asked to play micronesia when its supposed to be a full all stars but he turned down
If he lost cookislands i think he maybe would play in micronesia or HvV
I think it would have sealed his legacy as opposed to now it’s slightly tainted. Most people I know are turned off from his attitude in future seasons. I do think he would’ve been a lock as a hero on HvV.
If yul on micronesia, the season would change like a lot,He def at least made it to the merge,I'll actually think he would be the challenge beast in the season.
@@queenrhonnie1000 What's wrong with his attitude in future seasons? I haven't seen them, I'm just curious.
Jonathan had no chance anyway. The Raro tribe were so up their asses they would not have brought him to final tribal.😊
@@ChuckleHoneybearI think he meant the first flip. The second flip was far more calculated. The first flip was decided in a 10 second window, but you're right he didn't really have a chance anyway.
@@pkernoob786yeah but he figured aitu would turn on him which they would have and his best bet was with Candice at the time. Raro tribe wasn’t better with their reasoning
One of my favorite survivor seasons ever. Thanks for covering this dynamic in particular.
Ozzy should have played up his immunity wins way more. He literally didn't have to play the other side of the game because he was untouchable.
This is the 1st season when i started watching survivor and this by far without a doubt my favorite season... growing up in the philippines, i really wished that the survivor franchise continues here so i can audition, yul and ozzy really inspires me to want to play this game.
Ozzy vs Yule made for one of my favorite seasons of all time I might be biased because it was one of my first seasons but I loved it
The face of Jeff after hearing the love declaration at 13:06 ... priceless
fun fact i’m actually named after ozzy because the season aired right before i was born and my mom and dad loved ozzy
Do you also love Ozzy?
That’s literally fucking cool tho 😅😂 My parents absolutely would have named me that if I was born around that time, I was watching the show with them as a kid when this was airing
but how long can you hold your breath?
If I was named the same way you were, I’d probably open every conversation with a new person with that fact 😂
Jonathan to Yul: "i HAVE to align myself with the person who has the idol"
well guess what Jonathan
Man I had such a huge crush on Yul when I first watched the first episode of Cook Islands lmao he is such an attractive man, on top of being a genuinely good guy and very smart.. total package. Such a cutie. 😍
Dude same! Six year old me just wanted to hold his hand 😂
That fire making competition was hilarious. Even with matches they still failed.
Most competitive final tribal council ever!
1:03:28 love seeing Jeff be proud of his players
I kinda wonder if the naysayers felt stupid after Yul revealed he did indeed have the idol
I love Ozzy and he is my most favorite Survivor player, however, Yul really dominated this season and he is really likable. He well deserved the WIN.
My father had a friend who worked at Geico. His daughter applied for Survivor and she got on. She just so happened to be Elizabeth Hasselback from the Australian outback. I would very much appreciate if you made a detailed video on her game like you do with so many other survivors.
That is so cool! The patrons pick the stories 😊
@@OnceUponAnIsland I might just have to join and have a say in the next video I suppose
@@aperson22222 I'm actually surprised the patrons didn't pick Elisabeth in the first place. I mean, I know that the Australia cast was pretty loaded, but she's without a doubt one of the most famous Survivor players ever.
I didn't have any patrons until I made videos for season 3, believe it or not.
@@aperson22222 the likability, competitiveness, and emotional nature that got her far on Survivor is what got her far in broadcasting too
"it's kinda like why elephants can't run up trees" sounds like one of the secret idol phrases from the new seasons
29:54 is why you gotta love Jeff 😂 he’s always making commentary like he’s not right in front of the people he’s talking about
Cowboy is an interesting fellow, I'd enjoy sitting and listen to what he has to say anytime for sure
36:40 "yul was there for like a day.. there's no way he has it" 🤦♀️ Parvati.. girl.. since when does it take several days to find an idol?
parvati turned out to be a survivor beast in her own right
Yul's still my favorite. Would love to see him go up against more strategic players
Yuul is also hot AF. Did anyone mention that? When do people mention that???? Yuul is sooooo attractive. Also intelligent, and a nice man. Also seems a bit sensitive. He’s amazing.
You should have seen the reunion episode
The stretch that it took to get Candace on the Heroes tribe in HvV is still mind blowing to me. Her, Parvati, Nate, and Adam were the worst!! Felt so good to see them eliminated.
For real she was a villain and not in a likeable way. She was a flipper in HvV too and it got her booted the next round anyway
“Nothing traumatic actually happens on Survivor”
Dan Spilo, 10+ years later: *ehe*
This might be my favorite season
“If it were love he would’ve given you the immunity necklace”
Needs more likes if you ask me
I have never watched survivor..i do not have the patience..thank you for utube recap.
IIRC Yul actually mentioned somewhere that the edit cut a lot of Becky's and Parvati's game
She wasn't treated like shit though, at least not by the jury. Many of them gave her a chance to make her case and they seemed to actually like her personally, it's just that Yul and Ozzy had much more impressive resumes.
The temptation I would have, as a council member, to purposefully throw my vote Becky's way because of a tie as a final vote scenario would be quite high.
aitu 4 has never experienced hunger all throughout the series
That ocean was probably empty after Ozzy left.
I still find Americas considering race and ethnicity the same thing so fascinating and so stranger as it's uniquely American
I enjoyed this cook islands season a lot. Ozzy and yul were great players and they both deserved to be in finals. It is sad becky was seen as being dragged. 53:46 that was symbolic it was just 2 way, becky not being there and has to be called
15:21 Major props to Cao Boi for the headache treatment.
Also..."WOAH, PLAN VOODOO!"
I wonder how Billy felt watching this season just knowing that big hunk Adam was plowing Candace the whole time
These Jury were so mean to Becky. I understand she played the worse outta the three but they didn’t need to hammer it in
Hell one of the jury descriptions coulda just said this
Yul- The Godfarther
Ozzy- The Warrior
Becky- The Supporter
That was a good video I never seen survivor before. That yup guy seemed like a good fella where ozzy comments seemed stereotypical to win him favor. He was a lone wolf in a game vs a tactical genius who brought 2 others to the finals.
4:22 this is the moment Billy realized he would meet Candace.
I laughed so fuck'in hard when after an hour jeff said to use matches.
Very well put together!
Thank you!
Parvati was the villian of this season and Adam was the sucker who thinks his good looks will win him the vote. Them and Candice were lazy bums.
Imagine the comedy gold lost because Billy didn’t survive deeper into the season…
Yul really is the godfather seeing how everyone comes up to him and lay down their issues 😂
Omg I love this channel love your commentary
God damnit this absolutely hooked me on Survival you crazy bastard this was such an amazing experience for me
Billy was a friggin meme. There's no way he serious. Omg this show lmao
Billy was dead serious. That's the best part.
everyone out here thinking a fukkin south korean name be spelt like german christmas
im so dead
Yul was just so honest that I had to love him
29:58 was so sad. He didn’t have to take it out on jeff-he’s just having his fun
Ozzy vs Yul. Who do you like more? What could have Ozzy done to get 1 more vote?
Social Game, be less entitled, less hunting more social engagement
Yul hands down. I feel like Yul was more well rounded over Ozzy. Obviously Ozzy was a comp beast and provided for his tribe.
Adam promised to vote for Yul if he voted out Penner before Adam, otherwise he would have voted for Ozzy. Yul making the strategic move of taking out Penner sooner helped him get the win.
@@reginamachamer821 It’s funny that you would say this because for Season 42 a majority of fans thought Jonathan should win for the very same reasons
That feels very heartless and calculated to me
Yul would've had the royal court eating out of his hands back in the day. Boss level Survivor
of all the seasons i've watched, this is the first one I watched and it is still my favorite. I love ozzballs
I do like how you put these together. I really appreciate the Bible verses at the end.
Me and my friends had to pause the show, we were dying laughing so hard at the tragedy of a fire making standoff, lol
Survivor: Brains Vs. Brawn Vs. Becky
underrated comment
this makes me want to watch survivor honestly, but it’s waaaaay too many seasons and i wouldn’t know where to start
I have a video for newbies to the show that I highly recommend! ua-cam.com/video/GjkzkHO74O4/v-deo.html
As a kid I liked Seasons with a diverse cast.
Fiji and Cook Islands were my favorite
Yul seriously deserved the win
One of my fav survivor seasons ever
Thank you for the bible verse at the end. I really needed that.
Me too
I'm glad yul won. I liked ozzy until I saw the video ozzy being entitled for 21 minutes 😂
Ozzy was the Tribal Hunter and warrior, but Yul was the Tribal Chieftain.
This was easily one of my favourite seasons.
Amazing video
