People shouldn't be surprise that they can sing because in order to voice act a character, you need a lot of control over your voice, which is why singers and voice actors trained their voices
Not all voice actors are good at singing - there's a lot of overlap in the skills needed for both, but they're not the same. There's some amount of pitch control you need for voice acting, depending on how close the characters voice is to your own, but you don't need to be able to perfectly hit notes for that. There's lots of different techniques even between different styles of singing as well, and you won't necessarily learn them as a voice actor without specifically practicing singing. There are lots of songs that sound fine slightly off pitch with good voice acting though, as well as songs that need a more technical approach - most voice actors will find songs they sound great singing even if they're not good at all the technical parts of singing/don't have perfect pitch control.
In one of his voice lines Heizou comments about how good Itto's singing voice is, and after this I really need to hear Max sing as Itto. If Erika gets to sing as Venti then our boy deserves it too.

People shouldn't be surprise that they can sing because in order to voice act a character, you need a lot of control over your voice, which is why singers and voice actors trained their voices
Not all voice actors are good at singing - there's a lot of overlap in the skills needed for both, but they're not the same.
There's some amount of pitch control you need for voice acting, depending on how close the characters voice is to your own, but you don't need to be able to perfectly hit notes for that. There's lots of different techniques even between different styles of singing as well, and you won't necessarily learn them as a voice actor without specifically practicing singing.
There are lots of songs that sound fine slightly off pitch with good voice acting though, as well as songs that need a more technical approach - most voice actors will find songs they sound great singing even if they're not good at all the technical parts of singing/don't have perfect pitch control.
