People are surprised the VA’s are good singers, y’all don’t realize how much control you need to have with your voice to make it a character in and of itself! Vocal control is key to a good voice when acting or singing!
I mean, IDK how it is in other countries, but at least in Spain (for Castillian dubs), most of the VAs (apparently) aren't taught how to sing, so their voices have to be replaced in songs, and while they pick people with similar voices for big movies, when it comes to a smaller production it's very obvious that it's another person who's singing (Steven Universe is a good example). The same the other way around happens with singers: they don't know how to act or voice act, so you could get movies with a whole professional cast and a single character who sounds like the most random fandubber you could find in the internet (just what happened with Lola Bunny in the new Space Jam movie).
@@mattcseries At one point it was really common for Disney to use 2 Va's for their movies unless they cast a really well know Hollywood actor for a role (like Mel Gibson in Pocahontas) or they cast someone with musical training to begin with. It's a practice that looks like it's becoming less common with more and more Broadway actors (and actors who can just sing to begin with) making their way into film and animation. But there was a time in the not so distant past when it wasn't uncommon for animated film credits to have a "Voice" and "Singing voice" for each role. Its understandable people are a bit surprised Genshin has such well rounded Va's. Not everyone can do this. I recall How Jeremy Irons strained his voice singing "Be Prepared" for 'The Lion King' and the recording had to be finished by long time Disney VA Jim Cummings.
It just took me by surprise bc I wasn't expecting such good singing
