    I think many old servants need these high end buffs to compete because their kits might either be super wonky or just have bad hit numbers. Nero falls into the latter her buff needed to be insane to deal with her hits numbers being very low. and her NP its a 1 hit AoE arts NP which hurts even more so she needed this buff to make up her lacking in other areas. it also doesnt hurt that nero is a popular servant as well.

    I think it's more taking servants that are "good" but not used into servants that are both good and used. I like to use Emiya as an example as a servant with a great kit but I can't remember for the life of me the last time I used him outside a tower event. They probably have internal data on servant usage and going "We love Eresh and Scáthach, the players love them, why aren't they using them?" So they buff them because we like to spend money on waifus we will use.

      You know Emiya is an excellent example, I don't think anyone would say he's even remotely bad. However, I do think it kinda leans into the larger issue with the buster meta and for him the arts meta a bit, which is all about batteries. For buster it's even worse since the battery often has to be specifically 30% or higher.

    You’ve played the early days where Camelot was released. You still played then. Lostbelts were released. You still played then. Ordeal call released and you’re still playing. Why? Because there’s something new to do. Consequently, the increase in difficulty/challenge is what ignited your interest to play more. What is the difference of it today? Think about it. The game has to go on with good relevance so the shareholders of the game is happy to keep circulating the money for the devs to develop more for the game.

    I hope they buff tamamo's second skill. It being party wide would be nice. Or imagine it was like a party wide np regen so she can reach her np faster.

    There are a lot of units that they could buff so that they are more relevant and used more in the game, but for some reason they choose not to. Who they buff appears to be completely haphazard to me so why would they all of the sudden have some modus operandi?

    As long as they don't release an even better support than Castoria I think we're safe as she's been kind of the ceiling of the game for a while now with much of the hardest content being balanced around her.

    I think saying FGO is going to spike in difficulty "more" than it already does or has in the past is stretching for reasoning as to why these buffs are coming out, when it's neither necessary nor set in a good basis. Just to run down the list of the 4 big buffs highlighted in this video:
    NERO
    Nero got an amazing buff to her guts, there's really no denying that. Thing is, what is this buff really enabling that's new and groundbreaking? In a solo setting, getting a second use of the skill becomes slightly easier, for sure, because you've extended the guts duration by one, but you could already do so if you timed your heals well, and ran the Atlas MC. The buff also doesn't make it so easy to get a second use of the guts skill that running Atlas isn't your effective pick of MC, so you're not bringing extra damage steroids (I'd say the vast majority of the time) via the MC slot suddenly because of this buff either. If Nero is in a team setting, with the supports you want to bring with her, she isn't in any real danger of having her guts trigger anyways, so the 3rd skill was effectively a dead skill the vast majority of the time pre-buff. Post-buff what the skill is providing her in a team setting, the majority of the time, is a 6 turn 40% buff success rate, and 50% NP gen rate, all on a 10 turn CD (no ramping NP dmg or debuff cleanse without guts triggering), so 60% uptime. While this is nicer for Nero specifically because she has Imperial Privilege, and this will guarantee the atk and def buffs, 60% uptime on 40% buff success rate and 50% NP gen is not a game breaking skill. This will help her loop better and grant her more survivability via Imperial Privilege in a team setting, but she wasn't really lacking in this to begin with in the same team setting, nor is this team setup more game breaking or powerful than the currently existing immortal team comp.
    So, back to where this buff really shines: solos and "anchors" (last man standing). Yes, this buff to her skill increases her damage and survivability, but not to a new, game breaking level. Immortal comp still holds better survivability. QSH already exist, and while I could see arguments being made that they now have roughly equivalent survivability that varies in method, QSH is still far more applicable due to Ruler class invoking far more class disadvantage situations for the enemy than Saber class. From a damage standpoint, Super Orion is still going to hit harder via crits, so it's not breaking damage ceilings, and most cases where a solo/anchor is used are in ST fights, while Nero has an AOE NP. Nero is already lagging behind in the damage department against other ST Sabers when it comes to NPs, and so ramping her NP dmg is really more of a band-aid for her NP, rather than a powerful steroid.
    In short, while the buff looks nuts on paper, in practice this is only bringing her up to snuff with her peers in similar situations, that perform similar roles. Is she now one of the betters of her peers as opposed to one of the inferiors? Sure. Nero is also a fan favorite though, so I find it hard to believe that it's shocking that they'd eventually make her one of the betters.
    SCATHACH
    Outside of her special damage mod targets, all this does is no longer make her S3 a completely dead skill, and grant her anywhere from 0 - 60% NP charge over 1 - 3 turns (so not even fully guarantee the skill isn't still effectively a dead one). Against her special damage mod targets, Undead holds 0 servants and maybe 3 major bosses to date, so they buffed what is effectively a useless damage mod for what she is designed to do (hit one target really fucking hard). On the Divine side, there are 20 divine servants currently in the game which she will have class advantage against, and are the likely targets she would be fighting (11 Archers, 9 Berserkers), as well as multiple story bosses. Thing is, she already didn't struggle to deal with class advantaged divine targets pre-buff; changing the steroid from 1 turn to 3 is pure overkill. What this does to, however, is make her a much more viable "for fun" pick into class neutral or class disadvantage situations, which is great to see, as it's not very common. The extra NP charge on attack become more relevant against divine targets, as it will likely enable her to now land two NPs under the damage steroid, but her 50% quick buff is still only 1 turn, so one of the two NPs are not going to hit as hard as the other. Ultimately, I don't see this buff changing much of her potential clearing capabilities when it comes to fights where she'd already have been a top contender; only to fights where she was already not gaining the full advantages that other servants would have (class advantage, etc.).
    ERESHKIGAL
    The buff is more QoL than anything. Insta-kill is not a common mechanic to go up against, so on the rare occasions you do face it, losing your protection from it due to losing a 1/5 feels extra shitty and unfun. Also, timing that, plus the debuff immunity, and the buff removal immunity, and the invuln to all be applicable on the same turn, because they are all still 1 turn buffs, is essentially not happening. In nigh all cases you need, at most, two effects at a time of cast: the invuln, which was already guaranteed, and one of the other three. Losing that other buff you needed to a 1/5 and potentially causing a reset is neither fun, nor a real skill check on the player. It's simply tedious. While the skill CD effect is a nice buff, it's also delayed in it's deployment because it's tied to the invuln, and you don't want to waste the invuln. Long term it will provide solid value for Ereshkigal, but unless you throw out the invuln turn 1, you're not getting the full value of the skill CD effect. If they had put that effect onto her S2 or S3 I would agree with it being an insane buff, but as it tied to her defensive skill, it's simply a solid buff; there have been better on other servants, and even her own NP buff was a stronger buff for her than this.
    CONSTANTINE
    ...All the buff did was make his greedy effects on his NP become party wide. The buff only made him be better as a general support unit, with buster favoring. He got no increase in power for his solos, as none of the previously existing numbers were changed, and the one number added doesn't affect him, as he doesn't have a damaging NP. It doesn't even push him into being a meta support either: Castoria is still stronger, Oberon is still stronger, Koyanskaya is still stronger, both merlins are still stronger... He's now just basically the buster equivalent for Tamamo/Osakabehime in terms of supporting power. How did this buff even come up in a video attempting to talk about power creep and difficulty spikes?
    So are all these buffs good? Yeah, no denying that. We're not getting a Jekyll situation over here. But are these buffs game breaking? Morphing the meta? Pushing the boundaries of damage and survivability? Oh hell no! Greater game breaking, meta defining shit already existed prior to these buffs, and these buffs don't change the meta. Castoria's existence is still more damaging to this game in terms of power creep and difficulty spiking due to said power creep (looking at you fluff ball of LB 6)! These buffs don't power creep anything that already exist in the meta, so I think it's unreasonable to take these buffs as an indicator of the game going to spike in difficulty more now than it has already done so in the past.

      Thank you for this comment, as a returning casual player that wants to learn more about the game, this is very informative. I am curious about the videos comment about Salter though on being the best saber buster servant nowadays. What changed? I have her and I really like her but I haven't really used her much because I don't have servants to set her up before

      @@heilmany She got a ton more NP charge via an initial battery (20%) on her instinct skill, and refund of NP gauge (10% per enemy hit) with buster cards for 3 times, 3 turns on her mana burst. Because of all this extra NP gaining, she has become one of, if not the best, Saber Buster based farmers, as she is able to loop her NP very easily, while doing high damage (her mana burst now last for 3 times, 3 turns instead of just 1 turn). I can't say if these buffs are all out on NA yet as I don't personally have her (story locked to be a bitch sometimes), but as a general rule: the more readily you can loop your NP, the better you are for farming, the better you are as an AoE NP servant.

      Scathach and Ereshkigal I would say were already in a very good position and got some ridiculous buffs. I also get giving a less viable servant a good buff but the ones with Nero and Constantine seem unprecedently good..

    it's good to have buffs but there are a lot of three stars and five stars that need it more (medea, medusa, quetzalcoatl) I hope they're not just buffing the servants that are famous but are aiming to buff all of them.

      Quetz is already more than good enough
      30% charge, good dmg, is buster so pairs up really well with oberon.
      There is 0 reason to buff her, there are way, way worse STs who can't farm daily content on Ordeal call, different from her.

Quetz is just an example anyway since she's supposed to be a crit servant (at least base on her current kit) but her crits aren't as consistent or as damaging as one would like for their crit servant. As for a reason to buff her well her NP could use a buff.
      I would pretty much like to have medea and medusa to be buffed first and quetz to hopefully get hers when all the three stars have been buffed.
      P.S: I still feel she has been robbed of that buff opportunity during LB7

    This is my Grand idea , rather than spiking the difficulty what FGO needs is actually diversity , i have been saying this since day 1 PLEASE GOD DAMN REHAUL DOT MECHANICS. In other game DOT unit are actually viable and you need to eventually raise few units with DoTs capabilities. The game need to have 2 types of damage unit = sustained ( dots ) , burst ( crit , np ) this would not only increase servant diversity but also make stall team viable again , just like we have now servant with traits modifier we can juggle between what servant has burn , poison , curse. The enemy design , challenge quest would actually be more fun if they switch between dps enemy and dots enemy that way we can have way more creative design and content in the future rather than basically playing with the same gimmick everytime.

      many bosses are immune to it and to get a damage number that isn't garbage you need to stack like at least 4 units with the same type
      unless they're like that Siegfried cq that was on na a few months ago it's just not worth it to build dot

      @@vivaciousarcanist3389 yep it begs the questions why even adding mechanics like DoT or Instant kill , when they basically contribute nothing to the game. My rough idea for DoT revamps is to change or add special effects to each type of DoTs. Rather than having fixed point of damage they should have additional scalling , and if i were to theory craft it would be something like this :
      Poison , deal % Max hp damage
      Burn , facecard activate additional damage
      Curse , further amplify all DoTs damage
      Tbh they can think of many more if they are not lazy enough to overhaul and balance the game.

      DOTs aren't going to be relevant even with these changes unless the devs give the bosses near-immunity from other types of attacks like they did in that one challenge quest involving the crabs. And that will rarely happen.

    I honestly just wish that instead of huge power shifting buffs we should get a bunch of smaller buffs that stack over time. Like give us the whole Nero buff over 2 different times during the year instead of just one massive buff. Also avoids the problem of ‘oh, character I like got a useless buff, now I am gonna have to wait for at least a few years for another’. Like raise the whole power level gradually over multiple units instead of a few big buffs a year.

    I don't think any of the buffs have been "overpowered". They're strong, sure, but none of these have turned any old unit into an absolute god. They just become... more viable. Which is exactly what a buff should do. They shouldn't waste buffs that practically make no difference. Outdated units and skills should be brought on par with more modern content.

      Maybe there could variations to fights like an easy/hard mode, we kinda got that with the Road to LB7 but that just gave them more HP. You could probably make the hard versions more interesting by dipping into some neat lore effects the boss may have.

    Are there actually people who think the nero buff is mid?
    Cause as someone who took his nero to lv 90 and maxed the append 2 skill, I can tell you the 50% np gain up was more than enough, everything else was just a treat to us nero fans.

      It is one of the strongest buffs ever since it gave 50% gain, 30% arts and 44% atk for her.
      The problem is that even with all that she is still like mid to below.
      She got better for harder event nodes where you use plug and still not able to properly 6-slot normal nodes like a lot of free options like habetrot and Iyo can.

      You could triple her dmg, but the problem is not refunding enough.
      If she had good aoe buffs and high charge value she could work like Da vinci caster.
      But she is an okay looper that uses plug.

      @@TheDragonfireblade the standard is not looper, as said with Da vinci caster the standard is being good servant for 6-slot so you can use them every day, da vinci kills a wave by herself and buffs the team with dmg and gain.
      6-slot isn't a hard thing to achieve, its the bare minimum for an aoe servant to be good.
      you can pick like Iyo with Castoria sup + Xufu with 2004 MC and you will farm stuff.
      a gacha 4* should at least be competing with 3-4* free servants.
      she does not need to be as good as Tez or summer ibuki, just be at the same efficiency of a f2p comp

    Maybe they are just updating the old servants to make them relevant now since it's hard to compete with the new servants especially old servants with old kits? Anyway whatever the future enemies would be I would actually want to have boss fights that have fun gimmicks rather than hard gimmicks that shut down the use of some servants, or maybe that's just me.

    This is technically unrelated but does Anybody know anyways to buy saints quarts outside of the regions fgo is available? Because fgo is not available in my region but I got it trough a VPN but my main issue is the purchasing of saints quartz PLEASE HELP 😅

      I had the same problem a few months ago, you need to make a new google play account and set its region to NA (or whichever server you play on) and use that account to buy sq. that worked for me, hope it helps :3

      Honestly if she didn't stun herself she'd already be pretty good, make the 3rd skill 3 turns and give her some stun protection and we got a solid unit.

    There's a lot of wasted design space when it comes to things like craft essences. A little creativity in that one aspect of the game could open up new avenues of difficulty that don't rely on pumping numbers higher and higher.

      Its impossible to fix CEs.
      The meta is having Bond bonus CEs so unless they add 5% bond bonus to all CEs they are worthless outside event 90++ where 6-slot is impossible
      Or the event bonus CEs during the event.
      They or remove all bond bonus from the game and add new effects for the shop CEs, have the bonus be base effect.

    Yeah some servants received som mid or actually extremely bad buffs like Nightingale who is now for some reason a Buster dps wich you may think is nice but she has almost 0 survival and only a 50% Pmod against humans and Diarmuid with his pretty mid buff and Fergus being just a mini Gawain that can't generate enough stars to make him worth it while others who were already damn overpowered received buffs that are just gamebreaking or too much like King hassan Buster buff now lasting 3T or Achilles NP dmg being extremely high, Salter now spamming her NP like a maniac with pierce invul or Nero who can now stack his own buffs to deal an insane ammount of dmg!
    I wish some other servants that are really forgotten had the chance to shine or to become at least good at what they do like Nobbu Archer, her buff wasn't bad yet it wasn't particulary good either and to make his divine Pmod also last 3T could be perfect with the Wellfare servants basic 2 or 1 hit evade to make it like a more aggresive Pmod, there's Billy who started as the most broken Crit dmg dealer but even his own stats make it impossible as he can barely generate stars and NP even with the crits just like Astolfo, true his Saber ver is OP but it's a gag alternative and his OG ver is Rider and is bad af or for example Caesar, his NP requires to have a guts and his skills barely have any effect nowadays. He needs a buff, and a good one

      @@blaneonthemoon2507 she was a buster semi-support but since she's a zerker with no survival outside her np and surprise surprise, has no NP charge her uses are almost 0

      Rider astolfo was good for a long time, 50% np charge allowed to easily farm in early fgo.
      The saber one that sucks a lot.
      Even at CQs he has 3T evade every time he NPs.
      His only problem is bot having aoe dmg Buffs.

      Exactly. The dude's kit is just BAD, especially for a Year 6/7 limited 5* Rider that just recently came out on NA. Even with those buff changes he still isn't worth running outside of a few niche fights that force you to stall.

      You mean
      He was already just a better QSH at least 60% of the time (who lots of people praise as good)
      and now one of the top damage buffers in the entire game, while still being just a better QSH 60% of the time

      @@dimensionvisitor7689 Everyone wants QSH but with stars per turn.
      Constantine is exactly that, but also has better face card gains, works better with mighty chains, and works against enemies with pierce invul.
      His first skill lets him loop his NP which ends up better than a 70% stun chance.
      Healing can be made up for by command codes far easier than stars can.
      Only thing is QSH is a Ruler. And even that doesn't matter against casters, berserkers, extra classes, and those like Kiara with funny class advantage. And while any individual extra class is rare. Extra classes as a whole are not, plus 2 of 7 main classes.

      They will be like that forever.
      Main quest they keep adding stuff like follow and blue cubes for multiple full team revives.
      In events CQs are like 1 per event where you have the time to try like 3 times with revive and a lv 100+ np5 sup.
      If anything we will probably get even more mechanics to skip this kind of fight.

    It's not a surprise that FGO has Servants who will always have better treatments than others servants based on how much FGO prefers some servants than others... I wonder if it will change.
    I don't know , I might be wrong though
