No idea why Mansun weren't bigger. Excellent band!
I second that, they were amazing
Because they were too edgy, the public preferred soft music like David Gray and Travis
First album syndrome…..cracking first album then downhill from there
They were great. But music isn't about becoming rich and famous.
They tried something different with their second album which ruined the singles from it and it became an awful album that alienated their fans. Their first album was great.
Attack of the grey was amazing but SIX was a phenomenal piece of music artistry. Everyone must listen and appreciate true talent
I miss the 90s....when tunes were good and bands were cool...
Music was brilliant. People were happy. You could be free and there was no insta google twitter book for the world to watch what you were doing. And people could agree to disagree. Instead, now people are fat too hysterical and everyone gets so deeply offended by anything.
Ill stop drunken ranting. Great band, excellent song. Takes me back.
@@metalpunk3785 You're spot on. Love this song, in particular. Good mates. Good times.
Good times , glad I was a teenager through it
Guitar music seems to be in a bit of a dead end these days.
The 90's were the best decade for Western music, culture and politics in general. We peaked and are now in decline.
Absolutely love this track thank you ❤
One of the most underrated bands ever, they deserve to go much further than they did, and achieve more recognision.
Phenomenal sound.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
There's something very haunting, melancholic and wise about Mr.Draper's voice. Love it.
paul draper is without a doubt one of the greatest singer / songwriters of recent times. how many bands put as much effort into all their tracks as mansun did. there are mansun b-sides that sit among the best offerings of say .... oasis, blur or radiohead. it's a musical crime that bands like the feeling, the script or even coldplay get so much airplay when a great band like mansun slipped under the radar. if they'd got more credit, perhaps they'd still be going & still be making great music.
Absolutely fantastic - Mansun should have been so much bigger than they were. Totally awesome
One of the best performances you'll ever see on Jools Holland
An amazing song from one of the best British bands of the 90's Still sounds as good today as ever. Awesome vocals and guitar playing.
Paul played all the instruments on the recording of Wide Open Space (except for the drums!)
Well done! Now Billy Corgan played ALL of the instruments on the entire Siamese Dream album........(except for the drums!)
You are probably confused if you are writing that on a mansun tune, you like it but you like smashing pumpkins better, fair enough.
Paul Draper Official why?
Did Paul play the guitar solo?
Are you Paul? Dom might disagree.
awesome vocal control

We were truly spoilt in the 90s
eighties is my era but british music is undoubtedly the worlds best so every decade has some amazing music, this is staggeringly good outshone possibly slightly by i can only entertain you, exceptional band.
It's criminal that Paul is not currently writing/singing. Is he even capable of hitting a bum note? Absolutely EXQUISITE!!!
I fucking love this song.
To much talent in one band. Sad that not everyone recons, lucky to be a fan of their work. Much appreciated.
Think of your crush
2. make a heart with you hands
3. then kiss your hands while still making a heart
4. then put your heart where your real heart is
5.tomarrow your crush will ask you out
6. this will only work if you post this to your favorite song
Probably the best version of this song I have heard. I love how much bottom end there is. Also, the guitarist had something about him. Saw these at the Edinburgh venue around this time with Travis supporting.
What voice, what a band. Highly underrated.
what a fucking wonderful voice.
I never understood why this band were not up there with Pink Floyd and Co. They were incredible.
i was 29 when Mansun released this. its March 2017 now. and this tune still blows me away. Epic
Ok, Andy Bell of Erasure WAS my favorite singer of all time but Paul Draper of Mansun, there is IS NO greater singer than you. I put you in the same category as Steve Perry of Journey. Damn it, I want Mansun back, get in that studio.
Coincidentally the single best year of my life! Amazing song.
the 90's was the Golden Age for Modern Rock!!!
chad's guitar and paul's voice are awesome here.
Manc Nynex 97 they supported my Beloved Manics ❤
This is such a good song, it should of got more attention than it did, but this truly is a great song. Thanks for sharing.
Drummer is having fun!
It's a shame Mansun imploded when they did. Great memories of listening to this in the car when it came out. Fantastic tune.
omg I love this tune...its been a while since I didnt listen to the attack of the grey lantern album...its so so underrated..
Yeah Go Chad!!
Fuck, they were a great band
This performance was Mansun's introduction to the world.
Got turned onto Mansun after buying Chicane's Visions of Ibiza. Love Chicane's mix of Wide Open Space.
will always love this song
Probably the best album of the 90s
I honestly haven't heard the entire album. This song is incredible..My #1 and 2 of the late 90's are.... Radiohead "OK Computer"..and Echo and the Bunnymen "Evergreen"... Obviously 1997 was a very influential year for me.
@@kentwells4488 Play the whole album man -- its genius
@@annother3350 I need to
This was such a distinctive tune back in 97....
Mansion reminded me of 90's Duran Duran, the vocal, the hair, the control...that big sound..epic.
Mansun.
mesmeric live rendition
So beautiful ……im crying
Still listen to this regularly on way to work , when I’m chillin , great cult like song, top band.
Absolutely beautiful 🎉
Wow, never expected such a tight performance and stand up vocals. Ignore the year, just listen and enjoy.
It's always loss to us all when a Band can't get by their differences and continue to bless this earth with their creations
BRILLIANT .....
what a voice
Mansun did have some masterpieces back in the day

Talented youths at work. X
One of the best brit bands in the 90s
love this tune...
Don't know who these guys are. Can't remember *liking* them. Don't know why they show up on my Facebook. This is pretty damned good!
Heard it for the 1st time on radio 1 today, cant get enough of it!!

wonderful, luscious, free, expansive, just great.
Love that song!
Beautiful !! Bravo !! and congrats from Brazil.
Não vou parar de ouvir, só quando nao poder mais, lindo lindo lindo essa guitarra muito especial me faz sonhar
Bloody brilliant!!
Greatest band EVER! Others don't come even close.....
Please put the video of this song on!!!!!!! Brilliant song
I heard this song in the mid 90s on radio 1 back when they played good music and then recorded it when the video came on M2 an MTV channel for indie alt music which also now doesn't exist and then one summer I was in Dubai with my family at a music store and all cassettes were like 50p. I bought all of mansuns albums and loved every single one. They are so underrated and ignored it's bonkers they should have been at the level of oasis and blur but for whatever reason they were overlooked. Thank u for the music Paul!
Bravo !! One of my favourites.
Great song!!! Great job!!!
Mansun and Catherine Wheel for me! Great music.
i feel i missed out on the best of mansun, but managed o see them live 4 times and once before they split. also had met chad outside the tour coach and he invited me in to play back gammon with paul (dunno how to play t) amazing group:)miss them. xx
This is such a great record from such a great band.
Such a good song.
i like the mansun. especially so that they still release cd singles with posters and such. class songs. bububaba, love it.
how this band never got as big as Blur is beyond me
I agree. And Blur are my favourite band
They follow me on Twitter, thats enough for me.
Do you think Chad's net worth is really that much? I think I read that amount on one of the websites and thought it was a typo. Mansun were never million sellers, royalties don't pay that much, and they never went beyond headlining mid-sized venues so unless he won the lottery, I can't see him accumulating that sort of fortune. I know he wrote some tv music and a kids tv episode and that he's done well for himself career-wise post Mansun, but again, it's not a multi-million job he's doing.I love Mansun and Dominic's playing and I'm not disagreeing with you - I just wonder where a NET worth of that vast some has come from.
When the net figure is over GBP 20 million, then this gross is over GBP 30 million - and. Mansun certainly never sold that many records for him to earn that sort of money, or had that sort of career (and Mansun never broke the US). Obviously, he's had plenty of work since over the years, but again, the careers he's taken on wouldn't earn him anything like what's been quoted. It's not my business to analyze how much he's been making over the years - and Dominic is a supremely talented individual who seems to excel at whatever he turns his hand too, and he fully deserves everything he's earned - but the figure that we both saw, I think is very highly unlikely.
They might live comfortable lives (Stove and Andie, I don't know - do they?), but as we both said GBP 22 million net (around GBP 35 million gross) - for me, that's a ridiculous figure. You could count plenty more bands that have had longer and just as successful careers than Mansun, and I can guarantee you, the whole band has not made even half of that amount. They may play festivals, but there's is so much more to a festival's payroll than paying the headliner (and how many did they headline?). They did plenty of touring, but they never played more than mid-sized venues; certainly not stadiums or arenas - and they were never a success in the US, which is where large amounts of money will be earned. I'm not forgetting at all that albums have kept selling over the years, but not by prolific standards - and there was only three albums and a compilation, and none of them, to date, have re-entered the charts (at the time only two broke the top ten album charts - although admittedly the debut did go to no. 1 - and even the amazing Kleptomania failed to break the Top 100) . Remember, we're talking about the exaggerated net worth of one individual not the rest of the band. I know Paul Draper is out on the road again, but we were trying to justify Dominic Chad's current quoted GBP 22 million net that the internet has dug up from somewhere. I know it's difficult to believe, but not every band stays together / reforms for the money - when the musical differences or personalities are that great, people have no desire to be in the band anymore, or people are doing something in their lives which they find that more satisfying or fulfilling, then no amount can keep a band together. Mansun - particularly the two principals - at the end, were a very unhappy band; I doubt no amount amount of money could have kept them together. Dominic has said he wants no part of Mansun anymore and has a completely different life and career now, which PD has acknowledged, and has pretty much put the mockers on a Mansun reunion. So no, it's not just simple logic... As I said, it's none of my business to work out how much Dominic has earned, but having been in the music business myself once upon a time (not as a musician), I just think it's a ridiculous, and frankly unreal figure plucked out of nowhere, and that's my final word. Other than that, I wish Mansun would reform, I'd certainly travel back home to the UK to see them.
The missing link between Bowie and Radiohead, Mansun was vastly
superior to many of the bands that emerged during the "Brit Pop"
explosion of the early to mid-90s. Paul Draper could sing like an
angel as this clip shows. Two very fine albums, and this brilliant
song and they were gone. Remember them this way.
Epic alternative rock song of the 90s!
sound engineer did a great job here, got all the good bits out of the mix.
+steve marks seriously? can't hear Paul's guitar at all - the chorus lacks its push. I agree the rest sounds great.
I was thinking 'Is the singer's guitar even plugged in??' You can't hear it at all!
quality voice..tune
I´ve never saw this video before, what a song ..great performance..
I loved this song when I was six!
1997, a Dove or Mitzi listening to this....👌❤
Haunting and beautiful. loved it then love it still.
This song is one of the lost Britpop gems from the 90s. Discovered this on a compilation called "The Brit Box" - well written orchestration, great hook.
beautiful i miss them
Just great!
I miss this band loads
i need to see it live, i love this song
When music was music.
Simply the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE BEST SONG
Totally agree with you. I had to double check it wasn't Tears for Fears when I first heard this on the Paul Oakenfold Remix. Never heard a sound so close to TFF, especially the vocal.
Quality tune. Great band.
Great !! Thanks for sharing, very good quality !
Absoloutely Amazing ! Mansun were awesome.
CLASS!!
