Sudan played a great game. Give them their credit for bringing it to the USA.
South Sudan 🇸🇸. Sudan 🇸🇩 is a different country. I know it sounds marginal but there has literally been a 22 years civil war that resulted in South Sudan independence in July 2011
Dude, that is like saying Canada won by a Lebron layup. Do better. Totally different culture and ethnicities between Sudan and South Sudan.
@@UzbekWatermelonStop crying. No one cares 😿
Dude our roster is full of old injured players... I knew we would struggle, possibly even lose a game... and yet the b.s narrative is that this team is "stacked"
Not usa. They're a bunch of EGO MANIAC nba drama queens 😂
I don't think Brian watched the game carefully, south Sudan played like an NBA-caliber team and very much well-coached. They were physical, smart, calculated and talented. They have a great ball movement. That was a highly competitive game because Sudan played aggressive and physical.. And Brian needs to understand that the world would not let themselves get smashed by Americans just because they play in the nba. If they would go down, they will go down with a fight.
Well said
Because most of them have been raised in Australia, played Australian football, been in the junior Australian FIBA team with the likes of Josh Giddey and they know each other well. Australian NBL teams play a style that can beat the NBA at times. You'll notice how similar the Australian and South Sudan team play- no coincidence, and that they both took it to the USA team, who has rolled over the Europeans.
For the majority of the last few decades the US would win games like these by 30 points. Its a huge problem that we have multiple MVPs on the floor and none NBA players including a 17 year old Duke commit are giving them issues. That's not the way its supposed to go. It doesn't matter what Sudan plays like, the talent disparity should lead to the US winning by 30 if they were focused and played to their level
@@blablablaa14 by 30? Is this how you insult and underestimate the international teams? Have you watched how Sudan played in FIBA? NBA are far more talented yes, but Sudan is more resilient.
@@aivygile3569 They came in to the game with a +43 in betting odds. This isn't about resiliency. Its about expectations. South Sudan played a 17 year old out there. The US has Lebron and Steph who have a combined 8 titles alone. I didn't make up the 30 point win. That's what the betting houses thought would happen too, and usually they know the disparity. Most of the Sudan players have started playing basketball super late in life on broken hoops. This isn't an equal competition but the US was so bad it seemed equal
Give credit to Luol Deng, he has really built something great in South Sudan
Give Props to Lebron James
NBA rules turning our players soft
Casual sports fan spotted...
@JaredJamesMunar that's not a casual sport fan take. It's true. The NBA could benefit with a more defensive minded play to better compete in future tournaments vs. The world
that has crossed my mind
Frfr. They need to adopt FIBA rules in the NBA.
@@JaredJamesMunaryes, you definitely are a casu
On the plus side, this game would have given the US team a lot of exposure. There was a lot of South Sudanese scouts watching the game.
they just dont want to acknowkledge other countries catching up and hero ball doesn't work anymore
Usa has been stagnant and regressing....that is the real reason why the world has "caught up".
@@Q.B.2.L.B. LOL "regressing". THe world has caught up because they are getting better players,. US isn't regressing. The world is simply getting better.
@chriskay1449 - USA is regressing, they don’t even know how to box out anymore
They can still win the gold though. They are favored and it will be a let down if they don’t win because they still have the most talent. Now some teams are better as a unit though because they spent more time training together so that’s why upsets are possible.
@@chriskay1449 most people that have been watching the nba since at least the 90s (i've been watching since 1969) agree that the nba has gotten notably worse. not the talent level, which may well be at an all time high. but the way the game is played, the way priorities have changed, the way the rules have changed, the way referees call the games, the way fundamentals are (barely) taught, the way gambling is now part and parcel, etc.
This game had nothing to do with focus South Sudan can ball. Real hoopers know the difference that was a street game Africa's best vs our best. The South Sudan team can compete in the NBA easily. That was brothers vs brothers!
Activate KD, please
No lie😂😂😂 he definitely would of stopped the bleeding
AD played 21 mins and had 15 points. He was activated but they still had struggles early on
@@SilverRpr Said KD.. Not Anatomy Davis
We suck this USA team is full of old injured players..
@@BOSSenjoyer you right I read it wrong.,,
It shows a good 3 points shooting team that is hot can beat the US.
Why?
It shows that they can compete, but not necessarily win
It shows that we have a roster full of old injured players.. and this USA team isn't that good... I lit said this from day 1... we could easily lose a game
@willthomas7666 I mean when players dubbed by ESPN analysts "the greatest shooter ever created" and "the next MJ" go 3-9 and 1-7 from 3 respectively it's gonna make things hard for the team. Sudan showed them they are not infallibe and it took the old man going 10-14 and the final basket
Yes, along with motion offense and smooth ball movement. US starters are a tad slow and even when they have offensive/defensive bursts, they cannot sustain it. You can win with bursts like that if the talent disparity is big like 10-15 years ago, but it's not the case now.
This is an eye opener to team USA to not let their feet off the gas pedal. Good win by team USA. Great effort by South Sudan
this team is basically the 2017/2018 warriors. they can play like trash for 3 quarters and still win. it's a bad habit though.
We didn’t “win” we “survived” at the last minute. We need to play better defense.
@@MrWarrenRBwe won. What are you talking about? 😂

No they didn't. They treated this like the exhibition game it was. Gold in the Olympics is the goal. Winning an exhibition game isn't.

So it's all about everything wrong Team USA did but nothing on the fact that South Sudan or other country teams getting better?
The problem is with the intensity of the team. They really do think all they have to do is show up and win but being honest we are not that great collectively.
They can GET BETTER , GEEZUS!! They are all quite capable. BUT THEIR FOCUS IS A BIG PART OF IT. THEY NEED TO KEEP THEIR INTENSITY AND MINDSET ON THE GOAL. Hopefully they will get better as they start to play.

I disagree. That was not the issue. It looks like that must have been the case and it sounds appropriate---it wasn't, not in this game. South Sudan played like madmen. Trust me, if the US limp-d^cked it, they'd have been run out of the gym.
Everyone is forgetting that our greatest international basketball player of all time still hasn’t played yet and we’re still undefeated. KD will have the most gold medals in fiba history if he wins this Olympics, which he’s going to.
South Sudan played a great game, but theirs no excuse for given up 100 points and not defending the three
Kerr kept them in that drop coverage defense. Guys sagging too far under the 3 point line on defense especially under the screens
They did not miss
I mean did you see the shots they were making? Can’t do anything about pixie dust.
Sudan had some ballers man i think the USA team needed this to grow from and build off of. If KD can come back and give them anything offensively i think the team will be fine.

It’s not as if the USA team did not play well. They did. It’s that South Sudan played well too, and proves that it is a strong team. I think South Sudan will surprise many elite teams in this year’s Olympics.
This will be the hardest and most prestigious gold medal in basketball history. Normally us winning gold is just a formality but not anymore.
Everyone overreacting. Sudan shot ridiculous in this game. US has beat Canada by 16, obliterated Serbia, and dominated Australia until the last few minutes. Close games happen, the spurs beat the Celtics last yr in a game. This team shot poorly and Sudan played the greatest game ever and still lost. This game was an anomaly
Don’t be a prisoner of the moment. This was still an exhibition game and it will be the last time any team will have a chance to win against us. Typical NBA and fans. People look at talent way more than team. How many titles did all those "big 3" teams win? So these players and fans think just because of the star power on the team they can just walk in to these games and play half-heartedly and win. They got lucky because that last shot from South Sudan was very makeable.

Let's be honest, the team USA games vs Sudan and Germany are from where, the whole squad(Team USA 🇺🇸 ) needs to build, endure, and remain elite, the bigs cannot afford to look bad at rebounding against their peers from the NBA, if they know the goal is to bring back historic gold medals 🥇, also the top 7 all around leaders playing, know where to include everyone in the team USA 🇺🇸 squad on the floor conditioning, limiting as to what i see the bigs to at least 2-3 open 3 pointers per game minimum. Hold strong Team USA 🇺🇸 bring back the gold 🥇. I'm rooting for you all day ya heard!!!!!

I don't know if this means something but no one in Team USA against South Sudan went past 25 minutes of play time.
South Sudan was simply on fire with their 3’s. Every kind of shot was dropping for them. Sometimes, that can beat a team because it’s easy to create openings for them. It just caused Team USA to play harder. SS didn’t necessarily out-play them per se.

@sueprator9314 you are right, son, but see the thing about adversity is your reaction to it, and many of them did not react well
In the 90s, the NBA defense was tougher and more physical than the FIBA basketball defense. When NBA players played FIBA they found it easier. Today it's the opposite, the NBA defense is softer than FIBA basketball, which is why players like Luka say that the NBA is easier to play. The NBA's defense needs to be strong again, not just in the playoffs. Coach Kerr needs to be flexible in his decisions and get out of the pre-game schedule a little.
