If illustrating's something you want to go into, you should try entering a competition from a publishing company. They offer a lot of prizes now for aspiring writers and illustrators - I entered a writing competition last year and I genuinely didn't think I'd get anywhere, but I ended up being shortlisted! The winner would have got several thousand pounds, a publishing contract and a year's mentoring (I didn't get anything, but it's definitely something good to put on my CV). I've heard that loads of publishers do them now, so it's definitely something to think about trying - both as a way into the illustrating and the publishing side of things. The whole experience for me was so fun and interesting and helped my self-cofidence MASSIVELY.
So freaking proud of you, Beckie!! Your ability to stay motivated/push forward even when there is little motivation is very exciting to watch!! I have watched your content for years and years and one of my favourite parts about you is your authenticity. You have never compromised your identity or your passions for the sake of convenience, acceptance or stability. You are a badass!!!

Exactly!!! The one shouldn’t curse what kind of circumstances they are under. Unless you are siblings to those who are famous & rich, I think it’s very important to have legit everyday income so that you can support whatever you pursue to do that makes you happy. Good luck buddy !!!

Please know that there is nothing wrong with who you truly are, and that there will always be people who either dislike or like you without your “mask”. Hi Beckie, I completely agree regarding the masks, I live in South Korea and we have had mandatory mask wearing since early february and I do believe that’s directly contributed to the way we have been able to return to life SO quickly and have had such minimal case numbers. I worry about my parents back in the UK as there some to be a select number of people who have SUCH a problem with the basic aspect of wearing a mask.. why? who knows, but I think if people just took down their worries of how they looked and kept themselves (and others, because remember, the mask doesn’t necessarily stop you getting sick, but stops others who are more vulnerable from contracting this sometimes symptomless virus from you if you have it) and worried about taking care of those around them. I’m the same it is impossible for me to stay distant in a small shop when no one is keeping back. The company I work for can survive on online orders. I feel like if the company can do that they shouldn’t be open I’m exhausted
I get it. My state is in the red zone of cases. I'm terrified to leave the house, and to go to work.

It's been a while since I'm watched one of your videos, but I'm so thankful for your content and your honesty. Good luck and don't kill yourself trying to pay the bills. Been there, done that, it doesn't work. Though I don't have all the answers, it seems to be something we all have to discover for ourselves. I'm so happy I've found your channel again.

I really don’t envy your workload, and I fear im heading in that direction soon (made redundant from my job, and am going to have to take some pick/temp up jobs to tide me over).

In Scotland it is already compulsary for us to wear masks on public transport and in shops. Both my parents are retired virologists, and they're both terrified that if we relax things too much and don't have proper track and trace measures in place there will just be a second wave.

There are currently some jobs out there generally, both in the commercial world producing plans, finds drawings, sections etc. But also in research for books, publications, display boards etc. Just a thought

I agree about the masks. People must wear them where I live, but it varies across the US. The US is a mess. The UK seems to be faring better.

I couldn't agree more with the mask issue, I got my first mask back in March and get so frustrated when I see people not wearing them. I spent the last few months of working remotely (until I retired)but my wife has been working continuously in a job where she is masked all day. Living in a place where numbers of infected continue to rise, I am terrified to leave my house. And I will never understand why people treat employees at stores etc. like crap, especially now when they are risking so much to be there for us. Having worked many jobs and spent many years in public service, I will never understand people being rude and dis-respective. By the way, you look very nice in the video, love the green and peridot (?) earrings are lovely, that is my daughter's birthstone.

Even though I have been a subscriber to your channel for over ten years (think it has been 12 in all), I certainly can't claim to "know" you. However, the outfit you had on I thought was very becoming on you and I always love have your jewelry colors often matches what you are wearing.

COVID do too impact my life, seriously. I lost my 3 jobs which I've held for over years and because I wasn't paid for nearly a year, so I lost my job. But I'm living, nevertheless :)
How long is your internship? Do they have the option of you getting a job there once you've finished the internship? That would be amazing. The jobmarket right now is awfull, i wish you the best in your career.
Not certain, but they promised 100 hours as that's what some courses require students to complete on their courses. They had intended to take on graduates or 2nd years, I was even luckier to get a place

I agree it should have been wear masks as early as possible however the delayed date is due to not having enough masks. You can't make it compulsory to wear masks and then not have enough masks for people to wear. Any way you look at it the options are shit.
Yes, even those wearing masks aren't wearing them properly, or take them off at the till. I see so many people put their mask on my counter, despite also asking them to step back.
Masks should have been compulsory when the stores opened. It would have supported us staff immensely. It's been so unsafe, I'm just happy I have a glass barrier that offers some protection - I've needed it.
