Hi 57.... Johnny was at the museum before Covid 19. We talked about it. I too am a huge fan of his recordings. His covers of other artist hits I think are often better. Best, Joe

Jimmy also created Amos Records which was located at 6565 Sunset Blvd in Hollywood Ca and signed Glenn Frey and JD Souther who put a group together called Long Branch Penny Whistle which later became The Eagles.
Jimmy is such a legend! I sure appreciate you keep mentioning Leland Sklar, one of the worlds great session bass players who toured for many years with James Taylor’s band, I believe he now tours with Phil Collins band. A master of many styles.
Joe, you are so lucky to get to know and interview all these awesome folks! Jimmy’s honesty took him on long journey musically, his productions will live on forever! Great interview!💫
Thanks again Larry.....Joe

This guy was great listening to
Great interview as usual Joe. I have a few old Bowen produced Dean Martin Reprise albums. That period is my favorite of Dino's recordings. I've read his book Rough Mix a couple of times. Fascinating book, fascinating guy.
Thanks Deke....Joe....
Wow! What an amazing interview! I’ve watched it twice. Thank you!
Thank you too Mike...... Joe
Hank Jr. Is the man that makes awesome music.

Ur welcome & I enjoy !
he's a good 'un
Another great one! 👍
Thanks again Roger....Joe
I moved to Nashville in mid 1995 to work for Reba at what was about to become Starstruck Studios as the director of technical operations. Apparently Bowen had left about January of the same year. Needless to say, for the first 12 to 18 months I heard a LOT of stories about him and how he would, as they called it, produce from the limo. Now that I've been able to listen to him speak and hear his voice, so much more makes sense. Thanks so much for this, Joe! Great video, to say the least. Bowen seems to have made peace with a lot of things overall.
Jim.... thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts...Joe
Joe, I don't know you personally, but if I did meet you I'm sure you would be a genuine nice guy. In your interviews it comes across.
Thank you so much for presenting us with all these wonderful artists. I love your interviews and this channel. You ask a lot of great questions. God bless you.
Mike
Mike.... man that was just too nice. I’ve said it before to other extremely kind viewers and I’m sincerely when I say it’s people like you who make doing this worthwhile to me. God bless you and your family too....Joe
Great interview Joe. Another un-sung hero of the recording industry!
Thanks Fitz.....Joe
That was an incredible interview Joe! It's obvious that Jimmy was an amazing producer who left an indelible mark on the music industry. I liked the stories about working with Sinatra. I got to know Sinatra's driver & manager Tony Consiglio through a friend. So, I was able to get a personalized signed photo of Old Blue Eyes himself. I also sent him the Life magazine titled "Sinatra At Eighty" which he autographed for me! I have both custom mounted in the same frame, which I will always treasure! BTW, if you haven't read it, pick up "Sinatra & Me: The Very Good Years" by Tony Consiglio. Fantastic read about Sinatra & The Rat Pack! Hope that you are doing well & staying safe! 👍👍😉😉
Thanks for sharing Steve....Joe
Joe, this was another great great interview. This is one of the best music channels on UA-cam.
Thanks Beets.... Joe
FANTASTIC interview. Learned so much! Thank you. Shared it with all my music friends.
Thanks M....Joe
You’re gonna hit 100K subs pretty soon Joe, and I’m so happy for you. Well deserved with all you bring us that we’d never hear otherwise. And here you are still answering so many comments...that is quite impressive. Great stuff as usual Joe.
Hi Patrick.... very nice of you to still watch these videos and send me comments. I’m thankful and happy to answer. Best, Joe
What a wonderful treat indeed Thanks Joe
Thanks as always Nelly....Joe
GREAT INTERVIEW.
Thank you Ed……Joe
This is fantastic. If, in another life, I was starting out as an artist, I would certainly want to work with Mr Bowen. He understood the business, from the smallest components to how you create the big picture: hit records. Martin, Sinatra, Strait, Reba, Garth, George Strait. Wow. Time well spent watching this. I'm smarter for the time spent viewing this great clip.
Thanks for watching Mark......Joe
Joe, these interviews give us a view into a world many of us musicians never encounter. Like many “industries” we know the end product quite well but not how they are made or how the ‘Chef’ goes about creating a dish. It’s just incredibly interesting.
I’ve read many books producers and engineers have written but these interviews fill in the gaps for those in the music world who have not shared their work and lives in written for.....yet! Thank you again.
Thanks again 707.......Joe
This story made my day ,It almost brings you back to those times especially with all the Great Pictures ,Thankyou Joe and Thankyou MrBowen for telling these amazing stories
Thanks for watching Joe… I appreciate your supporting our channel. Jay our editor did the great job adding pictures. Merry Christmas…Joe
This is great Joe. Ever since I started buying albums in the 70s, I would devour every piece of information on the album cover and the liner notes. Even when we moved from LP to cassette to CD, I would read all I could (but the LPs were the best) about the album and the credits. After a while I started seeing certain names that were on lots of my albums. Jimmy Bowen was one of those names that I would repeatedly see in the credits. Never knew anything about him until now except that he had produced a lot of albums that I liked.
Thanks for watching Steve....Best, Joe
Steve, I feel the same way about those liner notes. It was like a peek into the world behind the music. As you mentioned, certain names and musicians kept popping up. It's so interesting when we get to listen to these legends in person. Thank you Joe for lifting the curtain.
Alan... thank you too for your support....Joe
What a great interview! What a storied career Jimmy Bowen had. I spent many years in recording studios over 30 years. Almost all of it with voice-over clients. I had an inkling of the music side of the studios but never took/had the time to venture over there. Your interviews help fill in the gaps. What a wonderful business you were and remain part of. Thanks for these interview. Great stuff.
Thanks Robert....Joe
Awesome, always noticed his name on all the old Hank Jr records I have.
Thanks for sharing Rod...Joe
Good to hear Mr. Bowen's strategy on producing! You don't hear stuff like this every day so thank you Joe!
Thanks for watching Bruce..... very glad you enjoyed it....Joe
You really do some great interviews, Joe! Thanks a lot.
Thanks Lowell... I truly appreciate your supporting us and your very generous comment... Best, Joe
Another great historical interview. Thanks for doing them, and saving them, and putting them out for us now Joe!
You’re very welcome Mike... I appreciate you watching them and your kind support.... Joe
Great interview Joe, I read Bowen's book years ago, time revisit. That's Life, Strangers in the Night, The Summer Wind- great songs, musicians, arrangements, Producer.
Gerald.... thanks for sharing...Joe
Another fascinating interview. Thank you so much, Joe.
Thanks Jason.....Joe
I knew Jimmy was a producer before I learned he had a record called "I'm Stickin' With You". The many hits (and even some that I loved which weren't hits) are innumerable. Vic Damone's "You Were Only Fooling" was what he could do with a guy who never got off the cabaret scene until 1965. He did such great records.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jim...Joe
Jonathan Winters, Quincy Jones, and Paul Anka rolled into one. What a guy!
Another great one Joe. Keep up the great work. It’s important. Maybe it’s because you know the music and recording side so well or maybe it’s because you know these guys, but you have a way of bringing out details that give us a much more detailed, “what it was like in the room” feeling. Keep it up
Thanks Thomas… best, Joe
Absolutely love watching your interviews Joe! Thank you so much. Loved listening to this one. I would love to be able to produce albums, always been a dream of mine to work with artists who I respect & love. From I was a kid always listened to Elvis, Sinatra & Dino! Plus a ton of country music. 35 years old now and still listen to the same stuff.....why? Because it's great music! Thanks again Joe.

Another great one Joe. Did Jimmy say that the union hurt the L.A. studio scene? It does seem like so many L.A. guys wound up in Nashville.
Hi mtc.... yes... the engineers union would not negotiate new contracts with the in house record label studios as the independent studios offer better deals as technology changed. For example... what was known as back up engineers often were just pressing the “on” button on the two inch tape machine when technology made it so the board engineer could easily do it himself/herself. The backup engineers could still splice the tape edits etc. but as things changed they wouldn’t agree to a more reasonable contract. I hate that happened to them but it’s just a fact of life in most every business now. Thanks for watching....Joe
Good one.
Joe, your videos are treasures. Thank you again for sharing with us ... I'm really enjoying them. Anything on the Wilburn Bros.?
Hi Clapolia……thanks for watching….no unfortunately I didn’t know the Wilburn Bros. Best, Joe
I'm just blown away. Thank you Joe.

Thanks again EB... best, Joe
a witty man!!!
Great stuff Joe I was wondering did Mr. Bowen ever bump into Lee Hazelwood and I would have ask him if he knew if Buddy Holley & Jerry I played on Buddy Knox record Hula Love I believe cut in Clovis.. thanks sir..
Hi Blue... I’m going to guess no on Buddy and J.I but probably yes to knowing Lee. Best, Joe
Thank you guys !!
Thank you too Mike.....Joe
Joe please interview johnny rivers, what an amazing underrated musician & singer. He's very private but i know with persistence you could make it happen
Hi Tracy…. I know Johnny.. he’s been through the museum with me. I am planning on a interview with him the next time he’s in Nashville. I am
a huge JR fan…. Best, Joe
Real treasure!
XxXx...... Thanks for watching...Joe
Great interview guys!!
Thanks Richard....Joe
Very cool interview.
Thanks Buzz...Joe
Awesome interview Joe 👍🏻😎
Thanks again David..............Joe
I've got mixed feelings about the mark he left on music, but ni denying it was huge.
And if that was the Unforgettable album of Hags was all classics that were never gonna make it big on whatever country music is but I listen to it all the time, it's incredible. His version of Stardust is out of this world. Might be another album that he was talking about, though, maybe 1996.
Thanks again Joe!! Working on a WET/DRY Marshall rig you need to come out and play!!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Roger... thanks for the invite to play too. I rarely play anymore, calluses have gone away and it kind of hurts to mash down on the strings. I know... I’m a puss but if I pick it up again I’ll let you know. Best, Joe
*** I should have put in Charlie Rich , Willie Nelson as pure Country music to name a few .
I always wondered why Arkansas? Now I know!
Thanks for watching Garth....Joe
"Jumbo"
No denying his influence and accomplishments. I've always held it against him, I've read he was a real jerk to Nanci Griffith....
Also clashed with Steve Earle if you can imagine that. 😄
P.S. These artists that Jimmy Bowen & his interviewer are talking about are NOT the real Pure Country Rockers such as Waylon Jennings , Jerry Lee Lewis , Johnny Cash. ---- * I'm not including Hank Williams Jr. in the list of NOT pure Country artists. --- Garth Brooks , was never a pure Country singer. ----
fak....you will learn more in 10 minutes from this fellow then spending in 10 years in the business,,,,,,
****** Jimmy Bowen was a failed Rock - A - Billy singer. ---- many believe that he was Jealous of Jerry Lee Lewis. --- when Jerry Lee was signed up to Electra record's . --- it was at the time when Jerry Lee had " over the Rainbow " / " Folsom Prison Blues " ---- J.Bowen wasn't very happy with some of the other songs that Jerry Lee had recorded. ---- However , we were told that the issue went to court & Jerry Lee won the case & was awarded a large amount of money. * Since those days we have heard the output . ---- J. Bowen was never a producer like Jerry Kennedy , Bones Howe , Shelby Singleton , Just to name a few fine Producer's. -----
Mr. Joe this is one of the best interviews with one of the best! ☮️
Patti.... Thank you very much.... best, Joe
