People keep disrespecting Dame cause of the playoffs but I'd love to see how Kyrie would react if Rondo and Holiday were double teaming him almost every possession.

I am a Pels fan. We didn't double team him. We trapped him at times off of the pick and role. But it wasn't some sustained double team. CJ McCollum balled out like he normally does b/c he's better than Dame. Dame is in NO WAY in Kyrie's orbit.
Stop. CJ is not better than Dame. And eFG is literally the best stat because it gives more credit for 3PT makes. Dame has shot over 40% FG in the 2014, 15, 17 playoffs.
Meanwhile in 2017, Kyrie averaged 22 ppg on 29% from 3 in the first 11 games and he won all 11 games cause he was being carried by Bron. He also didn't make the playoffs in the east until Bron + Love came while Dame has been making the playoffs in west since 2014.

I told ppl CJ was better than Dame back in January, and I said CJ was going to have a better series against the Pels b/c I know that CJ is better lol He just is. His FG% and 3PT% is way better. Kyrie didn't play with an All-Star until Lebron and Love got to Cleveland. Dame wasn't even the best player on his team even when CJ wasn't starting. LaMarcus was the best player on those teams, and he's still better than Dame. Kyrie had no LaMarcus Aldridge. If you want to tell the entire story, tell it all lol
I've been saying for years that Kyrie and Dame are super similar, with Dame prob being a bit better.. but NBA fans are hypebeasts, so they go with the guy who plays on the better team.

Most of these comments are barely skin-deep conclusions. To say one of the two is light years ahead from the other is such a wrong claim. Both may not have an equal opportunity to showcase their talent, but it is obviously more neck-and-neck than most people think.

Irving is a worse defender (by every impact metric), a slightly more efficient scorer (after he moved to Celtics), he was less efficient in Cavaliers, averages less points, and only finishes 3% higher at the rim, (Curry finishes 4% higher than Kyrie, would you call him 10 times better finisher?). It depends on which ones you use, DWS tends to overrate players on good defensive teams, DBPM overrates players on good defensive teams/that have a lot of defensive rebounds and assists/that have a high stl% and blk% (due to the way it's calculated).
I use DRPM/DRAPM, it's on/off based and accounts for teammates, opponents strength and other confounding factors. It's not perfect, (like any other basketball stat), but it is highly predictive (in terms of how players/teams perform in the future), and a variant of it is used by Vegas for betting. It has some surprising/controversial results, but I think that reveals more about our tendency to follow narratives, resort to confirmation bias/favoritism , underrate role players, than it does about how the stat is flawed. GOAT level defenders (like KG/Duncan/Ben Wallace/David Robinson) tend to dominate that stat so it's not outlandish.

Kyrie is not a better shooter than Dame. I'm a die-hard Blazer fan, but I would say they are both pretty equal. If Dame had the opportunity to play with Lebron then people would see him in the light they do Kyrie. Dame is a top 5 shooter in the NBA

Kemba and Dame's games are more similar to me than Kyrie and Dame's. Kemba is obviously shifter and quicker than Dame, however they both strongly depend on lateral movement into their shot to create scoring opportunities for themselves. Kyrie as a ball handler is deceptive, while both Kemba and Dame are explosive and shift the defender with one move to attack the basket. Kyrie's game is very different than Dame's. Kyrie is currently better than Dame, however Dame will turn out to be the better guard and player in the near future. Dame is a threat the minute he crosses half court, and spreads the entire floor creating oppurtunies for others like Curry. He has immense potential. I am in no way saying Kemba and Dame are not deceptive, however I am simply stating that they rely more on fakes and explosive moves to get to the basket than does Kyrie who plays around with the defense before finally taking advantage of a crack he sees in the opposing defense. All 3 are elite point guards however, and out of all 3, I would like to see Kemba get more recognition. He is a small guard trying to carry a trash team. Give him some credit, as he is doing the best he can on the hardwood.
i actually think kyrie and kemba are closer. I feel that dame and steph should be compared. due to their shooting abilities and similar skill sets. kyrie and kemba are great ball handlers, who were slashers and developed their jumpers into what it is today

i would actually say kemba is more effective with his crossover than kyrie. Not saying better but more effecive. kembas crossover is usually directly into a drive or shot kyrie dances with it a little more causing teammates to become stagnant.
Anyone who thinks Kemba's game is more similar to Kyrie's than Dame's obviously has not studied his game. Please to watch him play before commenting. Kyrie and Kemba are both quick, but that does not mean their playing styles are similar.
Funny watching this two years later how much the narratives have changed. I love both of their games and respect the hell out of them on and off the court, but Dame is for sure the fan favourite now especially with not much play from Kyrie or Steph this year its hard not to put dame in the best pg convo, whereas Kyrie seems to be the butt of the joke to all the media and plenty of fans and people seem to forget just how good he was, and still is! Man is still only 28 and now has KD by his side, next season is going to be a fun one for nets fans.

I'm definitely not suggesting that, AI is definitely a good player with a positive impact on the offensive end, but it is also undeniable that he is overrated by casual fans because of his GOAT level handles, his relatable size, demeanor, style, and personality. He's frequently mentioned with the likes of Wade/Kobe when he's not in the same tier.

He's a more efficient scorer only after he went to the Celtics, by RAPM and RPM, his playmaking and defense is definitely slightly worse compared to Damian. Kyrie is a more reliable scorer in playoff settings due to the nature of his game (elite isolation ability/handles and making shots out of nothing), but he has tunnel vision and is a net negative on the defensive end.

Having Lebron on your team and playing in the East definitely helps. Also, it is a relatively small sample size, and the circumstances are very different.
Even if I concede that Kyrie is a better playoff scorer (and I do), I don't think that necessarily makes him a tier above, or even a better player as he's both a worse playmaker and defender. The metrics also show that he has a lesser impact.
Kyrie's outside shooting is not given enough credit. Because he's better known for handles and layups, people forget that he's one of the best outside shooters in the league.

Both a great. But Dame has been underrated for years. He has such a nice game. I remember seeing him going hard in one direction, jump stop and taking off at a totally different angle to the basket for a layup. So subtle but insanely hard to do.

Definitely a close comparison, although using ticks assumes that each category is of equal value. Maybe you should experiment with giving each category a set maximum score e.g outside scoring out of 10, but athleticism only out of 8, then giving each player a score. Maybe that way the comparison would be more accurate. Idk just a thought
Dame is an underrated player, that's for sure. But to say that he is on the same level as kyrie, is straight up disrespect for kyrie. While kyrie is really close to passing and pick and roll to dame, he is a lot better in the categories that matter for their play styles the most : dribbling, shooting and finishing at the rim. In fact, he may be top 2 in the league in these three along with curry. The athleticism is irrelevant when you have a player so crafty around the rim, and when rebounds and defence don't matter because they are both undersized so there is no comparison there (even though we've seen a motivated kyrie defence, locking curry up at times in the finals). And to make things absolute. Kyrie has proven his skill in the finals, in some real clutch situations, no disrespect to the famous buzzer beater of dame though. It's just kyrie has done it better for a longer time
