I found myself agreeing with the points you mentioned. This is why I'm always drawn to theater music because of the story telling. I'm very happy that OPM is still very much in touch of this kind of storytelling music. Even though I've been living in the US for awhile, my appreciation of our very own OPM never ceases. Thank you for appreciating our music.
Filipinos are natural story tellers. Now, that transcends even more powerfully in music. That's why ballads are a staple in the country. As A'TIN, I love The Juans.
Yeah.. I discovered them around the time I started watching this channel.. and this is one of the first songs I listened from The Juans. With their songs, it's like reading a book, you really drown into their songs. Even if you're freakin fine with your love life, you feel that painful stab in your heart, as if they're speaking to you like it's your fault they're heartbroken lol!
Finally, Hindi Tayo Puede. Indeed The Juans have bern lighting the OPM scene not only via records and concerts but also doing theme songs of movies. I guess they really blew up in Hindi Tayo Puede which was used in a movie. It became a staple in local radio stations and covered by several popular singers on tv like Regine Velasquez who also guested in the Juans concert at the Araneta Coliseum. Two musical geniuses are leading two talented groups in the Phils, Carl for the Juans and Pablo for sb19.
Welcome to the Band World in the Philippines, Please next South Border Band of their original songs, Love of My life and Kahit Kailan, so good, Thanks and God bless
Filipino singers put their flavor in everything they touch so to speak. One such example is Gigi De Lana. Her version of Maroon Five ‘s “This Love” is super dope!
🎹🎤This is my favorite among their songs. Thanks for your reaction Josh! Hope you can meet them and their brothers SB19 when you revisit here in the Philippines!
March 2024 and they are now on tour to Canada and USA. Sadly their drummer is no longer with them. But as usual the band still provides exemplary performance. Much love to you Josh ❤.
🎹 🎤 wow! you're tagalog diction is getting better, josh! this band is really growing on me. thank you josh and gkd team for continuing to bring in more artists to your channel.
🎹🎤 Thank you for this rv Josh!! I agree, the Juans are so good in storytelling not just musically but in their lyrics as well. My favorite wish bus perf is their collab with Janine Teñoso “BTNS or bakit ‘to nangyari sa ‘tin. ” I would love to hear your thoughts on it!!
Just to point the essence of the song, its two people tried to fight for their love but challenges per challenges thrown at them that they end up giving up their passionate love to each other that is why its called Hindi Tayo pwede = " we are not meant for each other" that is also why so much emotions poured out when they are singing the song
🎹🎤 Thank you so much for reacting to one of my favorite songs! 🫶 It's fun to see you appreciate their storytelling and live music performance ability. Were you able to get the gist of the emotions even without subtitles? The song is truly relatable, if you've ever had your heart broken. Maraming salamat, as always, your appreciation of OPM makes my little Filipino heart so happy! 💓
I love OPM bands! And western bands are popular too before, like a lot, even bands that are not that popular in the US or in the west become greatly popular here if the song is good. Well The Rose (Korean, they have a wish performance) is popular here too, as well as Japanese bands. So we like bands here, is my point. And there are a lot of OPM bands. I miss the day when they have a concert like all of them (well, most) in one venue. If the kids in Korea are practicing to sing and dance because KPop is what’s popular there, here in almost every classroom, kids are playing the guitar, singing, and highschools (when I was in elementary to highschool) would have battle of the bands competitions all the time! And colleges and universities as well, of course.
SLMT Josh for this rv. My JuATinista ❤️ is full again. Hope you'll get a chance to see them perform live. (Excited for you to finally meet their brothers in the industry - SB19, real soon) More powers to your channel!
Thank you for your appreciation to Filipino music. I agree to your points of view and hope you could make your channel be more recognise by more audience. More power and Fod bless
🎹🎤 love the feedback and definitely agree that The Juans are really great story tellers. First time I watched their live performance, their songs made me cry even though I wasn't going through anything that's sad at that time. They're really good. I'll be watching their concert this May, hope you can too in the future because it's super worth it. Thanks again Josh for this great RV 🤘🏼
If you like the Juan's because of their emotions in performance then you should try the "this band"" with their female lead vocalist raspy voice full of emotion in performance, try their "hindi na babalik" and "kahit ayaw mo na"
And I guess what OPM or Original Pinoy Music is really more emotional soulful unforgettable etc as how we love our music to be. We do it from the heart as we always sing it from the heart. what more is we always love the topic of love and being hurt. In tagalog we always love this 'HUGOT' that's where songs draw in all the emotions. If you saw the lyrics it said in english "We met but were never meant to be". And you are right music nowadays esp western already lacked that kind of love of and for music but don't worry you will still and will always hear us Filipinos singing them ❤️🎶
Before the pandemic, we loved going to live band performances because feeling the music, the build up and the emotion, live is amazing. I suddenly miss it and want to go to one now hahaha. I seriously love OPM.
Josh, I concur, but I'm hopeful. In the Philippines, where singing and music are so much an integral part of what a Filipino/Filipina is as a person and as a definition of what it is to be Filipino/Filipina culturally, and as a distinct characteristic that separates them from everybody else in our universe, I believe that these aspects of music will not disappear. You are an example of this. You discovered this, perhaps by accident, and yet it gave you that hope, that longing for this kind of music. I am very hopeful indeed because you are an example of this, and I thank you for your appreciation, and perhaps LOVE for this, a uniquely Filipino phenomenon. I thank you also for being a conduit for this so the world is also made aware that there is this kind of music that still exist. Cheers: American_filipino here on the West Coast of the USA.👍👍😎😎😁😁
🎹🎤 - a thoughtful RV! Thanks! That was a good analogy, comparing music to literature, song development to story development. Thank you for the props you give musicians, helping folks better appreciate the multi-tasking that goes on in their brains, esp of musicians who also sing, not to mention the training and discipline musicians have, in order to develop the muscle memory to play, sing, and harmonize while minding the technicals to produce the sounds they want. And you know what? While I do enjoy you and the boys goofing around before getting down to business, todays’s RV is a welcome change as you started listening to the music just 1:30 seconds into the video. Not telling you never to goof around. We appreciate you and Lucas and Brad!
You can also react to the Katrina Velarde version :-) we are proud of the Filipino band scene. It has a long history and that you will enjoy them as producers :)
Nice video! I suggest that you do a reaction to The Juans w/ Janine Tenoso and their WishBus version of Bakit 'To Nangyari Sa' tin. Really enjoy watching your videos, guys.
🎹 🎤 First off -- your Tagalog pronunciations are getting better. Thank you so much for a very thorough reaction to this song of The Juans. You have actually reacted to this song (medley with Ihahatid Kita) when you did an RV on this World Collab of Gigi de Llana and Morissette Amon. The Juans were the band with them.
🎹🎤 Thank you Josh for reacting to The Juans again! You and Lucas already reacted to them singing, "Hindi Tayo Puwede" with Morissette and Gigi and you're both in awe of them singing together. I think that was really a great performance. I actually came to know The Juans when they interviewed SB19, and since then, I became a fan of them also after I've seen their music. I think they're fantastic storytellers. Their song can pull at heartstrings of anyone listening to their music. I think Carl and Jap had written many, if not all, of their songs. Theyre just that good.
Unlike popular belief.. Filipinos actually do excel more in alternative genre of music more than other genres. PPOP is still trying to discover its own identity especially the upbeat ones.. slower songs will always have the OPM flair. Personally, I like our ballads and alternative rock more. But everyone has different music taste (I am not that young lol, even I am no longer that into KPOp and American Pop anymore.. I still like some JPop and JRock though). I also have seen foreigners got into Filipino music because of Eraserheads songs played in taxis when visiting here.
Agree. Filipinos love alternative music. Gen z and millenials still enjoy listening to them, and even attend band gigs. Even top songs from charts and digital platforms such as Spotify Ph are mostly alternative / indie music. Opm is also more sentimental, emotional, and has a storytelling quality to it. This is prominent even in bands and singer-songwriters.
Please explore other OPM genres like Filipino alternative rock bands on Wish Bus: Hale - The Day You Said Goodnight Nexxus - I'll Never Go Cueshe - Stay INTRoVoys - Line to Heaven etc.
🎹🎤 Can't sleep, and fortunately caught your videos fresh from the oven :) I hope you will give time to react to Yeng, Kyla, KZ and Angeline on their On Bended Knees. You may also check out a very lowkey Elaine Duran with her Can't Take Away. You will have riffs and runs for daaays with these videos. Btw, still waiting for Daryl Ong's medley. I thought it was up for a reaction video. Thank you for always appreciating Filipino artists. I always enjoy your videos. Hope to see Lucas join you next time.
Music is the best representation of being human. There are similarities(chord and melodies) but it should be unique(the artist's interpretation and delivery). If it is created just for profit and the uniqueness of the individual track is limited or gone. Its soul is gone and human can't feel an attachment to it and we get bored with it easily.
Thanks so much for doing an rv on The Juans. ❤ I hope you will also do an rv for their song BTNS with Janine at the wishbus. I already submitted it thru your google form.😊 Another one is their Salamin mv. Like sb19, i have all the songs of The Juans in my playlist.😊❤ Thanks
🎹🎙 Hi Josh - if you haven't seen the MV for the Juans song "Salamin", Stell did the interpretive dance for the MV. written by Chael (one of the members). Try to react to it. He has a video how he talked about the making of Salamin. It was release last year 2022. thanks!
Thank you for appreciating opm and filipino talent.. Pls. Watch and react to JAYA, JAYSON DY & JAY R(they are rnb artist ) they sing acoutic live of OFFICIALLY MISSING YOU... IT WILL TAKE YOU TO ANOTHER LEVEL OF STYLE OF RIFFS AND RUNS..GOT TO WATCH it..❤❤❤✌✌👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏love love from phils.
Hi I'm from the Philippines i would also love to suggest the colab of "Moira & 4 of Spades" title :same ground..one of my fave performance on wish bus..also I'm a big fun of "4 of Spades band"..they are young & talented they we're like young beatles, i might add..😊
🎹 🎤 I'm with you Josh. I hope AI doesn't take over in the music industry either. I have seen some AI in mv's. So inspiring! Reviews like this help us keep going and do better! :) Thank you!
Proud of youuuu our best boys ❤️
The Juans are SB19's best best buddies & good influence in the industries. As big brothers to them, they give advice to SB's young career
I fell in love with the Juan’s first ! Then SB19. I love and respect this group

🎹🎤 I love them too, my top 1 is SB19 and The Juans are my #2. I love also their live performaces :)
@@ajblueiris18 I came to know The Juans because of SB19 too.. 😊
Since then I became a fan..
Filipino singers put their flavor in everything they touch so to speak. One such example is Gigi De Lana. Her version of Maroon Five ‘s “This Love” is super dope!
Katrina V did an excellent version of this song also on the Wish Bus! Thanks for supporting Filipino music.

The Juans is really good in storytelling ❤️
🎹🎤This is my favorite among their songs. Thanks for your reaction Josh! Hope you can meet them and their brothers SB19 when you revisit here in the Philippines!
🎹🎤 I agree, The Juans are good storytellers through their music and their songs draw you in emotionally. Thank you for appreciating OPM!

I love the Juans! Their song is really something ♥️ but wait till you see Ben&Ben (9 amazing individuals ) fit in that bus! 😁
The Juans will have a concert in the USA soon.
🎹🎤 Thank you so much for reacting to one of my favorite songs! 🫶 It's fun to see you appreciate their storytelling and live music performance ability. I believe they are worship leaders in a christian church.. I guess that may influenced their soulful and very moving story telling of their music..
pinagtagpo pero hindi tinadhana - "met but not destined"
Ben and Ben is good band too and OPM song “LEAVES” is poetic song.
BRIEFLY THE SONG MEANS - "WE'VE MET, BUT NOT DESTINED TO BE TOGETHER FOR GOOD".
If you like the Juan's because of their emotions in performance then you should try the "this band"" with their female lead vocalist raspy voice full of emotion in performance, try their "hindi na babalik" and "kahit ayaw mo na"
