Good review. I have the Ducan 30 (non spine) and think you may be better with that. The Spine tech is a bit of a gimmick unless you’re doing a lot of scrambling perhaps and if you have it sitting on your hips correctly then the weight transfer should mean little pressure on your shoulders.
Did Mary like any beaches in Brazil? 🤠 Did Mary like any beaches in Brazil? Did you see where the discovery route is ⛵️ as you saw the coast is gigantic and there is a sun for each one. Beautiful fotos. various backpack configurations 🌳🌳 Eh Clima Tropical sunscreen wooo
Mary, Between Mammut Ducan Spine and Atom Which one would you choose? And why? I think, I still love The Atom Backpack. By the way this's Mammut Ducan Backpack, absolutely is not your Favor color., right...!!
Mammut for a day hike and Atom for anything longer, I like the easy access for day hikes and the comfort with the Atom for longer hikes. You are right, the colour isn’t top of my list but the only other option at the time was silver! I think they now do a marine colour and a new one is being introduced soon.
Hi Mary, Good to see you out there. Now that we are the far side of COVID I finally got it together to tackle a tilt at the PCT. I head out at the end of next March. Would appreciate your help on phone and Garmin in touch info coming as I do from Ireland and heading to the states. Hope you are keeping well and the health is good. Michael from Ireland
Thank you for a honest review :) Can you recommend better backpack for carry on priority sizes? I’m going to hike Camino and I need a back pack for that which I could take to the plain
I’ve always found the Ospreys a really good option as they are so comfortable. The only other one I have used is the Atom pack made here in the UK which is much more of a lightweight pack but without all the optional pockets and compartments!
Dear Mary, thanks for the recommendation 👍🏻 On shorter distances by bike 🚴🏻♂I also like to wear a backpack. Do you have any experience with the Mammut Duncan Spine? Kind regards and have a nice Sunday ☀Gerold
Hi Gerold, I have no experience of wearing it on a bike but the airflow is pretty good and side to side mobility too. If you are bent over a lot on the bike I imagine it wouldn’t be as comfortable as one without a frame though, but if you are more upright then maybe so. The frame also comes up quite high on the shoulders which might be a nuisance for riding?
Thanks love !!!! After ur trip to the pct and how long the those paks held up for you I'm sold. Even 4 short trips. I also haseab long time affinity 4 the Kelty paks !!! They r great packs for me for the money. But. The zippers could be premium ky zippers. These r cheaper $ packs. But love the layout. Haven't been let down yet 😊. Thank you Miss Mary. Ur thots r highly held 😊
Yes the Ospreys were great packs for the PCT, I would definitely not have used this one for that! I’ve heard the Kelly packs are good too but haven’t tried one myself.
Very honest and comprehensive review, Mary!
Thank you!
Interesting idea - one of the best reviews I've seen, thanks Mary 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
An honest review. That is great. Blessings
Thank you Vickie! 😊

Yes I think you are right, but good like you say for lots of scrambling!
Mary, Which pack do you prefer best, the Atompack or the Mammut and which do you find more comfortable.
Atom Pack for long distance and heavier weights for sure, its more comfortable too. The Mammut is good as a day pack though - despite the creaking 😳
Thank you.
