Thank you! You made multicam easy... great tip on ordering clips via the comment field. :)

Thank you for this great tutorial! I have a question, at 25:23 what would be the difference in the output if you clicked "Group Clips..." vs. "MultiGroup..." in the dropdown?

    IDEA:
After these livestreams can you guys take the time to make short little 5-7 min videos going through what the instructor is doing. I'm looking for multigrouping workflows in a niche situation and going from different video to video on YT is time exhausting. If you guys made short videos out of these 30 min livestreams, without all the pauses, introductions, dead air, and even can take out the talking. Just zoom ins and outs to see actions better in the Avid and some text to support what the visuals are doing. I really feel like it would make people VERY happy and would lead to more viewership because of the new, quick, and easy digestible videos. Thanks for yalls hard work to make content on the channel!

In this very simple use case it looks easy in Media Composer to handle multicam, but multicam often includes multichannel audio with different audio sources - and in this scenario Media Composers workflow is just plain confusing and horrendous, especially when editing groups is not possible from the timeline - you have to go back to the bin and find the group to edit it. Creating a group from a group on a timeline is buggy and to be avoided - and mapping has to be done thru subclips of sequences where you map the audio channels to the tracks you want, then group the synced subs to get a multicam group with the correct track mapping. In other NLE's it is MUCH easier because sequences can just run in multicam mode - so you just map the audio and video channels as normal to a sequence, then pop into multicam mode to edit where each V track becomes a camera. You can resync and move audio that drifts very easily right on the timeline, add new material and do anything you like - without having to create special non-editable groups first. You can't do that in MC without lots of back and forth between bins and sequences, grouping and multigrouping, subclipping and autosyncing (which doesn't even work for multiple clips). TIME wasted fighting the software, or searching the forums because you believe there MUST be a simpler solution. There is - just use a different NLE.

At 19:26, your timeline magically resets to before there were edits. You are discussing doing a "reset". But what exactly did you do to make this happen? Thank you

I'm just now coming to Avid and I'm glad to see it has this functionality. But, to be very frank, I am surprised that this iconic program is still a bit behind its competitors in multicam editing. With both Premiere & FCPX, the process for cutting between angles is very fluid, with FCPX being the best-hands down. Here? You can't even see when you switch your angles in real-time? It's only a recent feature that you can use waveform audio to sync your clips? Like, what?? I feel spoiled 😐
