It's really a shame more people don't see this song for what it is, extremely toxic, but ig thats what good music does best, masquerades an artists true intentions

Well The Weeknd doesn’t really masquerade it. If u actually listen to a lot of his music he’s blatantly saying he’s encouraging his fans to do bad & he know it’s wrong but because it grants him fame, fortune & all the things he’s ever wanted he’s literally willing to sacrifice himself & his fans.
When u get a chance listen to “Moth To a Flame” & watch the music video for “How Do I Make You Love me” the visuals are really interesting & gives more insight into his lyrics.
Clifford breaks this down perfectly when he addresses that The Weeknd constantly states how he knows he’s doing bad, encouraging others to do so with his music but he’s going to do it anyway. It’s very dark but intriguing me to as a fan of his music… he’s always been very honest about his intentions

am i the only one that can see the weekend sold his soul? i mean he did say in his popular song "sold my soul to be popular" and the imagery in his videos just shows that he sold his soul.

“I want to be loose and free to do all the messed up things I want to do even if it hurts myself or other people, like you.” Welp, that lyric sounds like garden variety narcissism to me lol. Thank you for speaking on this and exposing it for what it is. People hate when others do this to them in the real life yet continue to support music that essentially promotes narcissistic abuse.
I don’t understand people dancing to it either. The devil’s biggest trick was to make people believe he didn’t exist. Clearly, that’s happening by not calling things out for what they are and defending it as “creative choices” and “art,” when it’s doing nothing more than buying into a negative trap and helping someone get famous for it.

@godfirst3709 catchy production with the guitar loop, fine tunes synths and a fantastic chorus melody.
If you find the concept of the 'devil' quite sensitive then don't even listen to it.
I find it bemusing that you even associate the 'devil' with the weeknd. he's just talking about his horrible past. there's no devil. There's just himself.

    • @godfirst3709
      @godfirst3709 Рік тому +2

@@madhavnarayan2475 the greatest trick of the devil is to make people think he doesn’t exist. I would advise you to look further into this fact, I also know that the devil keeps people in bondage through their own pain, and creates a spirit of covert narcissism around it to glamorize the victimhood of it all as well. I pray that you are able to see clearly with spiritual eyes, and not with that of culture in the world, and what’s “cool.” I pray you are blessed with the truth, and the light of Jesus.🤍

    Amazing break down!
As a weeknd fan I can admit he’s always been very honest with his intentions no matter how dark & messed up they are. It’s definitely been a theme of his since his underground mixtape days. When y’all get a chance listen to “Moth to a Flame” then watch the video for “How Do I Make You Love Me” the visuals are trippy but gives even more insight into his lyrics & their meaning.
That’s one thing I can say about The Weeknd we can look back & say he’s always been very aware of what he’s doing by using his music to encourage his fans while warning them at the same time. I know it’s dark but as an artist I just really appreciate the way he interprets his intentions, true feelings, warnings about his music through his music… not to mention he actually has a great voice & the talent to execute all this in a way where it make us want to listen, dance & sing along. It’s very eerie. He’s dark, toxic & problematic as hell but a genius & damn good artist when it comes to his music, that’s what makes it so dangerous

Weeknd's songs are always running in Circles like his Music.
Doing the same damn thing over and over again and feeling guilty and regretful at the end or during the process itself, kinda how our lives are revolving and we are running in circles for those petty pleasures in life.
But the only difference is The Weeknd makes millions from it and we lose all of our savings and time we have at our disposal... 😞😓
Feels so robbed and unfair man.... 😓😭😭😭

Well, I don't see the song in just the simple reference to want to do toxic things, but also in reference of his focus on being successful in his career , where, lets face it, most of the time a woman will hold you back more than anything to a mediocre life. Even the imagery reference this in the video, where the woman in red , absorbs the youth from the weeknd, making him old.

In one of the Weeknd Fan Forums, we have been discussing that After Hours and Dawn FM are not just about drugs and girls but actually about religion and God. Songs like Less Than Zero are him talking to God. DawnFM is him in purgatory but he may allude to being a Fallen Angel and cannot get back to heaven until he "becomes heaven." I am not religious at all but it makes sense to see it through that lens
