understandable but im afraid this doesn't fill up stadiums like his big Pop hits does...it also wouldn't be authentic as it's not part of his life anymore. Lastly people would've said he's not versatile and can't grow as an artist and would've probably flopped.

@@BlackDiamondxo he’s definitely changed, there’s a couple of songs off of After Hours talking about the affects from his first album

He should try the slow songs like this again. He kills it beautifully
These songs didn’t pay him. The commercial hits do. That’s why they call it selling your soul.
@@ashj0 He writes what he feels and what he wants and cares nothing about commercial success, he is driven by himself and is not a sellout or a sell your soul kind of a person. Read his current interview in GQ it's online, he talks about all of it. He detests Hollywood and the Grammy's and the machine and anything superficial. Each of his albums are very different, he doesn't fulfill a quota for anyone but himself. I love his early stuff, he is just a work in progress that honors his authenticity and his alter ego(s). HAPPY FRIDAY!
Me Me Me Me
I was really deeply connected with The Weeknd from 2012 to 2017. This song feels new every time.
When you come back to it after a couple years.. bro it stirs it up in you. Like whatever you were doing when it came out. I love music, it is timeless when it'd this good. Masterpiece right here. It huts so deeply too, the more you experience all the pain he was feeling. Fkn crazy world
I feel like I was a totally different person when this song first came out special this one and a few others
It’s sad that when people think of The Weeknd they think of Starboy or Blinding lights... not even knowing about this song.
THIS IS THIS SHIT! AND REMEMBER ME WITH WIZ KHALIFA
you are wrong.
This was the original fuck anthem
A lot of people didn't know him until 50 shades came out and had Earned it on the soundtrack. Sad.
This song has over 180 MILLION views. Stop being so dramatic.
although starboy is good, this is the REAL weeknd. The one who connects to souls with dark and meaningful lyrics. His old songs are the ones where the lyrics just slowly sink in and you realize what meaning it has. The 'new' weeknd is good, however the old weeknd will always be the real legend.
Lena Herondale SO TRUE
you should hear from the new album tracks Die For You & Nothing Without You and after you listen to them come back and reply to hear you regret about you comment :D
You don't think starboy has surprisingly dark lyrics? I mean definetly there's a lot more upbeat synth songs on the album but the title song Starboy itself has depressing meaning behind its lyrics
Lena Herondale people change, the weeknd today is the only weeknd there was and will ever be.

This is the first Weeknd song I heard, instantly became my favorite musical artist. When he sings you can see and feel his lyrics, the pain and ecstasy he puts out there is raw. He is very gifted.

Gotta admit that, as good as Save your tears/In your eyes/Blinding lights might sound, they just simply can’t compete with the old albums.
Does anybody else feel the same way?
Yeah, they just hits different. I guess it`s cause at that time his way to write, make and see music was different
But I can`t really understand all the hype for blinding lights. Sry but if we have to talk bout after hours, songs like hardest to love, until i bleed out, after hours and escape from LA are much better i think
Agreed!
I also can't understand the hype behind blinding lights.....
The best song in after hours is "FAITH"....by a big margin
@@aayushverma9681 idk, i think faith is a pretty good song, but misses something important to be the best of After Hours. That something is in songs like until i bleed out, After Hours and hardest to love. I really can't decide which of the three is better, just cause all three are special in them kind

Wow, I was 13 years old in 2011 when I first heard this song on the radio. I was so captivated by his voice and I started listening to this on repeat, then I discovered more of trilogy and the rest was history. I’ve been a die hard fan since 2011, and it’s now 2023 and I’m 25 years old, still a die hard xo fan. Had the pleasure to see him in concert twice and I can’t wait to go see him more. His music is timeless and he’s a legend, one of the greatest from my generation. XOtWOD.
this is the first song I ever heard from Abel. It’s a masterpiece, just like trilogy.
What album would you recommend getting first trying get into his music?
honestly I went through beauty behind the madness before trilogy. Wicked Games and High for this and The Morning were some of the songs I knew , but I didn’t complete hearing trilogy until I finished beauty behind the madness. After that I heard all of starboy. But it depends on which of Abel’s styles you prefer. Trilogy is , and will always be the top for me , but you really need to dig deep into the lyrics and the beat to actually enjoy it and understand it. If you’re going to start with BBTM I suggest Dark Times , Angel , Acquainted , there are more but I’m just naming a few.
The birds part 1&2

Trilogy isn’t really an album it’s just all his 3 mixtapes combined
I hope he comes back to this sound. I fell in love with him because of this dark approach that he has
the hills is pretty dark too just cause it was put too much on the spotlight doesnt make the song any brighter it just brightens the way for the artist to create more and more content. the triology weeknd and the abel who created the kiss land is making the star boy.
