Do these bikes have easy maintenance that you could do yourself?

100%. It’s a basic v-twin. Reliable, long maintenance intervals and oil changes are a 30min job. Belt driven so not much to worry about there. Overall it doesn’t need a lot

They are v-star 950cc v-twins that have been perfected and have been around since the early 00's. With an intake, exhaust, and a tune from Ivan's, they are more competitive to a sportster 1200 and typically preferred over the H-D. They are extremely reliable and with a few minor easy to do mods, they can be tailored to a sport cruiser for the twisties, or get a fat fairing and seat etc, and ride them cross-country.

Yes. Change the oil every 3k or 4k (I won’t do 5k), check the valves (they are screw and lock) every 16k or so (I don’t remember the recommendation), make sure the tires are inflated, belt is properly adjusted every tire change, and fire it up and ride.

    How’s the buffeting ?

Not bad tbh. Especially if the visor is down. Up to 70 is very easy. 80+ you feel it more but still very manageable

There is a vented shield for these that would take care of any buffeting
