We just put a brand new Genie Belt Drive up and it's so stupid quiet 🤫. I mean with the chain you could hear in farthest bedroom / television off but now you can't really hear it with the television off in the living room. Ranch style house (1686 Sq. Ft.), garage, laundry room, and kitchen kinda attached with the living room butted up to the kitchen. I mean it's stupid quiet and if my security system didn't ding with movement in the camera you would never know anyone was in the garage or coming into the house.

I just did this simple fix a few weeks ago and took all of 5-10 minutes. I can’t stress enough, no not over tighten! It’s ok to do a few test runs to ensure you have the right tension. 👍

Nice pro tip! I lubricated my chain, wheels and spring about a week ago but didn't notice the excessive slack in the chain until you dropped this video. I just made this adjustment, it took 5 min or less counting hunting down my 1/4 inch wrench. The door did seem to quiet down some and I see the chain vibrating and suspect that vibrations designed to be carried by the chain were being transferred elsewhere this whole time!
BTW, I used a vice grip to keep the chain from rotating, that's a tip I learned from your vid on replacing a lawn mower blade.
    Keep em coming.

Thank you! I have two Liftmaster garage door openers where the chains were starting to droop. Did a little tightening of both and the doors are operating a lot better.
I also had one rail on one door that was just little more gap between the down rail at the top and the side rail. I put a piece of Gorilla tape in the rail and that covered the gap enough to quiet the door. (I don't want to start mucking with the rail bolts...).

I'm sure curious as to what the door motor mount bracket is connected to at 3:17 (top section). Looks like they would have to double or triple up on the rail. I don't imagine there's a style there but maybe one was installed. I would have set the strut closer to the bracket with a LHT. In most cases, the door is set heavy so as to allow the weight to help close the door. This way helps the top panel from being pushed against the top of the opening. Without proper backing on the door for the bracket, you're asking a lot from the lag bolts, apparently it's held up thus far but I wouldn't be comfortable with it.

Dude! I suspected my chain ⛓️‍💥 was loose, so much so, it is hanging 5 or 6 inches below the bar. Funny how repair men pretended like they don't notice when fixing just what's broken and not mentioning it. Do they assume I'm too cheap to pay for maintenance, or just letting it be so they can respond to a catastrophic failure. I think it's the latter.
