Mandatory EID was introduced in Ireland in 2022, but there has been full traceability that included duel tagging and movement recording with a passport card to accompany every animal movement for decades. EID introduction actually simplified the process and made it easier for producers in terms of record keeping and administration. But Im not advocating for it,we don't want to go down that road here, it would cripple the industry, drive small producers out, create bottle knecks at marketing facilities and sacrifice the sovereignty of the cattleman.
