- Опубліковано 18 жов 2024
- The Ringer’s J. Kyle Mann takes a look at how Chris Paul beat the odds with his All-Star-level season at the age of 35, how it compares to Steve Nash and John Stockton at the end of their careers, and the impact Paul has had on the Phoenix Suns this year.

Whatever they pay you on this channel is not enough
The ringer is not a channel
This dude's narration voice is ridiculously satisfying it makes me uncomfortable
Ask Bill Simmons..
Truth
truly
This man is hooping at like 53 years old, 4’ 9”, on a hip replacement, and he’s still a top seed in the west
my guy chris paul has two first names no wonder hes so good
paul george 💀💀
@@biozarro 😂😂
And still winning nothing, still choking or getting hurt. CP3 = OVERRATED LOSER
And always gets injured in the playoffs
2:24 I say this all the time. People forget just how athletic Cp3 was before his knee injury. The way Ja morant has been able to break people down off the dribble and shoot his little floater reminds me of cp3
That CP3 dunk on Dwight Howard was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen
Lowry age 34 season: 19.4 points, 7.5 assists, 59.3 TS%, and 3.2 BPM.
Lowry is the only player currently with a similar longevity
It's not the same longevity though because Lowry wasn't elite at a young age like CP3 so he hasn't had to play huge minutes and carry the load that Cp3 has to this point. Lowry became elite at like 26
@@captainmarvelous7678 he was also the 24th pick compared to the 4th pick overall. He wasn’t given the opportunity to shine early on until he got to Toronto.
Only difference is Lowry has a ring💀
Lowry one of my favourite players of all time fr
@@jasonshin9004 those are all traits I’d attribute to Kyle as well. He was quite literally about to be the official designated coach when almost our entire coaching staff was out. The only reason why he wasn’t is because it would have violated the chargers because it wasn’t designated in his contract as a player coach 🤣 also if you wanna see how good lowry is at being a floor raiser, watch the 30 point comeback vs the mavs where it was Lowry & basically a g-leauge team.
I respect the hell out of Chris Paul and one area he’s better at than kyle is as an isolation scorer, his craft with his handle can open up any short.
The last time I was this early to a ringer video, Steve Nash was still playing point guard for the Suns
96-98 or 04-12?
Last time i saw a comment like this, people still thought Chris Paul to the Suns was a bad move
Nah 2019 suns Steve Nash
Videos never disappoint....that montage at the beginning was great!
Editing here is outrageous!
“When Shakira was reminding us that hips are, in fact, truthful” What a poet
I love how he says “Let me know if you agree” at the end
Yes, Kyle. I agree.
Bro please bring back the dime drop videos you have such good content even if it’s like once every month or something man. I love your stuff honestly it’s a shame how much I watch your Luka doncic breakdown 😭
Remember when we thought Deron Williams vs. Chris Paul was a legitimate debate? lol
Yes, since 05. D Will declined CP's longevity is rare as said in the video
@@silewis9396 D. Will was another victim of injuries sadly
D will was better at some points
Wow one of the best 11 minutes of my life.... All hail to the Point God HIMSELF dat man CP3
Here after 36 year old Chris Paul sinks dagger after dagger into the Nuggets in the 3rd quarter en route to 37 points and 7 assists on 74% shooting in the closeout game, and leads the Suns to the 2nd Conference Finals of his career.
All hail, the Point God.
vid aged well
Here after Chris Paul sinks shot after shot to blow out the Clippers and sends them home with 41 points and is making his way to the first NBA Finals of his career :)
No rings for CP, Nash or Stockton... crazy
i wish he could’ve talked about isiah (even if he doesn’t have as long a career because of the achilles) and what he shares with chris paul and what the differences are aside from luck & roster construction
Pass first point guards don’t win titles, especially in the west. It’s unfortunate
@@jean-andresassine9917 its apredictable playstyle especially for john stockton and karl malone
@@jean-andresassine9917 That's not even the problem. For literally all three of the guys mentioned in this video it was bad luck.
Stockton had the MJ Bulls. No-damn-body was beating them.
CP3 largely dealt with the Peak Dynasty Warriors during his peak contending years.
Nash dealt with the Kobe-led Lakers, the Dependable Juggernaut Spurs, and the Dirk-led Mavs.
Combine that with freak injuries to these guys AND teammates over their careers? Yeah, it's just plain old bad luck. If CP3 doesn't pull his hammy in a Game 5 WCF win a few years ago and/or if Harden and his other teammates didn't UTTERLY crap the bed in the subsequent games, there is literally no doubt in my mind that both CP3 and Harden would be sitting on rings right now.
@@SamuraiFoochs that's creepy as hell, too. It seems like the basketball gods want these three to just ball out and score instead of playing "allegedly" the right way as a PG.
Comet is a brilliant word. We'll see if he well ever be able to finish a playoffs even somewhat healthy though...
He seemed to be better last night
100. The biggest reason for CP3's lack of success is that he gets hurt in the playoffs so much. If you want to tell me how good of a player he's been *when healthy* I'm totally onboard. But when it comes to longevity, there are some serious caveats they left out.
That CEO analogy 🔥🔥🔥
This aged well, as the Suns beat the defending champs in style!
This Guy dropped 37 points today in a playoff game against the Nuggets. Even outscored Booker and Joker.
Kyle I don't know if you love basketball or pop culture references more. Quality content either way!
Lonesome, crowded west. Loved it. Great video as always.
My favourite player of all time. Not everyone gets to watch their personal GOAT play out their prime for more than a decade. Will be grateful for every CP3 minute over the next couple of seasons.
When he mentioned, Steve and John, I can't help but feel sad that Chris might retire without a ring just like them. Please, basketball gods, give the man a ring!
“CJ yawning” 😆😆
Chris Paul cemented his legacy in that Lakers series, looking forward to a finals run for the fun sun's 🤞🤞
What a tremendous summary, compilation, and edited vid. Fantastic
Was literally about to hit you up on Instagram and ask about the next joint. You’re define a bright spot of The Ringer 🙏🏽
This is awesome! Great job, J. Kyle Mann. Paul turned 36 in early May. It might need another update after taking down the defending NBA champs in spite of his injury and reduced play as a result. Here's to continued recovery for him as the playoffs roll on and maybe, just maybe, he becomes the first on this list to win an NBA championship.
Sneaking a KoC "according to Second Spectrum" in there. Nice
Damn that was an early Modest Mouse reference? I love it!
Lonesome Crowded West
I love basektball and i love graphics. it comes together amazingly good in these videos. thank you!
Mate this content is pure excellence, absolutely can't wait for more
That opening is a work of art.
This was an incredible watch, thank you
that intro was goated
This video was brilliantly made!
Oh man, NBA Playoffs in the night and J Kyle Mann in the day the basketball gods are shining on us
The Ringer's CEO: "I want basketball content, but with swagg"
J. Kyle Mann: "I think I can work something out"
Brilliant video really well made. The editing, music, writting to the memes creates such a cool vibe, awesome job
god damn thats some good production!
nice video, don't know how i didn't notice this channel before
wow, this video matured really well in just 2 weeks!
I'm just a minute into the video but I can tell you some commonalities between these three players. It's the ability to see the floor very clearly. The ability to slow things down when you need to slow things down and to pick it up when it needs to be picked up. Being able to pass is probably the last skill that you're going to lose. It probably requires the least amount of physical ability to maintain at a high level. Youngsters can score but veterans can always see the floor. If you look at Nash and Stockton you see the same thing that you see in Chris Paul. A smaller floor general who has eyes in the back of his head. That's something that doesn't go away.
POV: you're watching this on the day of Game 1 of the NBA Finals featuring a young Suns team led by CP3.
Amazing content. Editing was hilarious. Great work as always Kyle.
Mann,
This video series is incredible. Keep it up!
Shoutout to whoever is doing these edits, some of them are so funny.
I need more of J. Kyle Mann in my life please.
Excellent Modest Mouse reference at the end
Crazy video and audio quality! Sub earned!
Drinking game: take a shot every time JKM says "This season, no player..."
Ive been waiting for a J Klye Mann video for so long
Something i realized is that the 3 point gods all don't have a championship. Weird huh.
Hope his injury is ok, tough to watch him hobble through the lakers series
Always with the J Treds ! Always dope vids....
I see the J Kyle Mann thumbnail I click the J Kyle Mann thumbnail
"with Spencer Hawes" 8:38 holy shit that murdered me
Love the Michael Clayton clip in the intro
Damn, I didn‘t know J. Kyle Mann before, but this video is just video editing and basketball fandom greatness. I gained a new appreciation for Chris Paul.
Lol at the moments of Kristaps trying to guard CP3
All ringer videos should be J Kyle Mann videos.
I'm here because he made it to the nba finals.
He's so similar to Stockthon and Nash, that he might give it to Bucks to stay similar to them on not having a Championship
0:40 anyone notice john collins' shoe in the middle of the floor LMAO
This beginning was so epic and hilarious.
The ringer is lucky to have this man
God I love these. I selfishly want more of them. I'm super curious to see how long it takes to put these together with all the movie and pop culture references.
these videos never fail me
J Kyle Mann is juggernaut!!!! That was masterful!
I hope he gets a ring. Great player on and off the court.
I immediately liked for that intro.
J. Kyle Mann is the best thing on this channel, wish i could watch your videos only
I can watch these all day.
That intro was next level
J KYLE MANN is so ENTERTAINING GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE I COULD HIM ALL THE TIME BEST BBALL VIDEOS ON THE WHOLE WEB
Great video. Appreciate it!
Whos here after the Suns are finals bound?
Mark Jackson voice “ My god, mama there goes that man. The consistency, quality and production level at which J puts out for his video’s is above reproach. This guys needs to be holding full fledge seminars on how to make top tier content.” lol
Where can I get more Kyle Mann?
Spotify
Phenomenal editing dios mio
Love these videos... make more Kyle.
He's one of my all time favorite players when I think how basketball is supposed to be played I think cp3
NBA: steve nash is finished
pheonix suns: rise him from the ashes.
Chris Paul: Hold my beer.
“Its gonna be epically difficult for Phoenix to get him a ring in the 2020-2021 season.....”
Suns in the Finals: You mad bro?
YOU LOVE TO SEE THE PENCIL DRAWING THUMBNAIL JKMMMM
That into was a masterpiece
Just finished watching game 1 of Suns and Nuggets. CP3 had a great game.
1:10 that CP3 is constantly compared with Stockton and Nash tells you what you need to know 👍
Young Chris Paul was an insane athlete. His quickness was crazy. He'd get like 6 steals regularly and I remember how he just was always right in front of the rim hitting floaters
Watching this after Suns made the finals, it's something else.
That intro was crazy
I fucking died at Chris Paul's face on a Pentecostal snake handler
He’s in the West Finals RN
great video, music is a bit too loud tho:)
The beginning oh my goodness why can't I give 100 likes
These videos are amazing
I love you J Kyle Mann.

I love J Kyle Mann. The GOAT
6:42 dude is right, those jumpers will be on the finals
Best series on the channel
