Nigel Pearson built the momentum with the previous season’s end and Steve Walsh was incredible with his player recruitment. Ranieri had to be persuaded to sign Kanté, then tried to play him on the wing!
@@Stephen_Platt Obviously you don't watch football much, or you just started watching him a couple years ago. I've been watching it since 97-98. Claudio was always a great manager. He finished 4th with Chelsea in 2002/2003 season above Liverpool and qualify for CL, won the league with Leicester city when Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool all teams were extremely strong. Funny because utds treble so far is still classed the greatest achievement. Its whether Liverpool can top it with a quad but this was astonishing, not the greatest achievement though
It was Arsenal's to lose at one point and lose is exactly what they did. Leicester were outstanding that season and probably deserved to win it, but it was yet another season that Arsenal fans were left lamenting through poor management and bad transfer window business.
People often forget this. It’s spurs who get all the jokes but spurs were never top of the league that season. You can’t bottle something you were never on course to win. Arsenal couldn’t have been given a better chance to win one last title during Wenger’s reign, baffling that they didn’t win it. Brilliant from Leicester to capitalise
@@ClaraFinn Not really baffling if you'd already seen how Arsenal had been handling the transfer market since the Emirates move. They always took their foot off the gas at the key moments and left the squad just short of being strong enough to get over the line through lack of just one or two more signings. It was frustrating to the point where I gave up even bothering to watch transfer deadline day.
Arsenal 2016, 2011 and 2008 were good teams short of 2-3 world class players away from being elite. Wenger and the board’s refusal to invest stopped such a progression from ever happening. When Liverpool got a decent side in 2018, they invested in 2-3 world class signings and are reaping the rewards even now.
Not a Leicester fan at all but I definitely became one this season. I hate the rollercoaster emotions of supporting a club, which is why I support no team but this was different. I became anxious, watching behind sofas etc, desperate for Leicester to win the league with every passing game, after around December. I would have been genuinely gutted had they not won it.
I was sat at home, not able to watch the game. Didnt know the score or anything until my grandad pulled up outside and took me and my brother up the road to Vardy's house to join other fans. That night is a memory i'll never forget
That season was unique. Not to take Leicester achievements away but all top teams were in transition, so really Arsenal or Spurs should’ve won the title. But Leicester done the craziest thing of all time
I still can't believe that this happened. So many things had to go right for Leicester to win the league. Surviving relegation the season before, the underperformance of all the big clubs (Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton all missing out on Europe, Newcastle and Aston Villa getting relegated). The dominance of Klopp and Guardiola wouldn't start for another couple of years, and to have Leicester, Arsenal or Spurs occupying any of the top 3 spots at this point 6 years on would require an exceptional job from any of those teams. Truly a once in a generation moment.
Probably the most popular Premier League champions ever. To have a squad that didn't seem capable of getting anywhere NEAR the title to do that is magic. And to think it took just £5.6m for their secret weapon... I was overjoyed when Liverpool won the league in 19/20, but I really happy for Leicester to do the unthinkable as I was when they won the FA Cup last season.
Im Liverpool fan but this is completely one of sensetions of the PL!this is proof that you don't need money to win treble, quadruple, sixpule and etc this is a proof that in football everything is possible it's like Aston villa or Norwich winning the league
Fantastic achievement. And all because they took advantage of Chelsea's faffing about with the club's medic/Mourinho situation. Spurs were the only team challenging Leicester and in typical Spursy fashion, bottled and made Arsenal the runners up 10 points behind the champs.
It’s quite anti climactic how only the last game of the season is played at the same time. In my opinion only the first half of games should be scheduled before the season, the second half should be scheduled only 4 games at time to ensure all sides playing to not get relegated or for the title and European spots all play in the last month of the league.
Can we have some serious respect for Ranieri please? What he did to keep that squad motivated, focused, calm and plying for 38 games was insane. Yet it's Poch getting the big offers 😂 🤦🏻♂️

He can’t even take credit for this win.
You really think its easy to win a premiership, you think anyone can do it? You know that without a good manager it doesn't matter what squat you have and you wont win any titles.
@@Legenda20SLO when City, United, Liverpool and Arsenal were all strong? City who were managed by Manuel Pellegrini and who took their foot off the gas when his departure was announced? And *still* City finished above United. Liverpool who finished 8th? Their joint worst ever final position since pre-Shankly?? Come off it 😂😂😂 He’s had a track record for things going south because of his negative tactics and constant tinkering of his team going back to the early 2000s. I never said anyone can win the prem, but it’s not like he was the only one who performed the miracle. He was helped *greatly* by circumstance and the people around him. He lost 1 player and his results went down the pan at Leicester. A player he didn’t even want! He got sacked somewhat harshly by Chelsea in 2004, but then hardly set the world alight in any of his jobs until Leicester, then things went south like they had done in his last several jobs.
Unbelievable
And you know what’s funny, Spurs still finished third in title race between the two of them.
Lost the last two matches of the season to finish third behind Arsenal!!
I'm an Arsenal fan so this season was bittersweet. As a football fan I could not help but smile for Leicester, just hated it that it was my club at their expense. Beautiful moment in sports history. Those who don't understand football will never understand how impossible this was.
Love how football fans can turn this wonderful moment into basic, unremarkable jokes about Spurs being bottle jobs. Focus on the truly wonderful part of this story: Leicester doing the impossible
Spurs finished 3rd in a two horse title race 🤣
@Paul They were never first to bottle it.
@Paul Bottleham
My dad placed a 30$ bet just for fun on Leicester winning the league at the start of the season. Like all of us, nobody was thinking Leicester would win the league. Dad got like 800$ in return at the end of season.
The odds were 5000 to 1 so if your dad placed a $30 bet at the start of the season he would've got $150000 in return
@@ekibrekelmans5447 1:5000 was before season even start. as time went by, they decrease bet rate lower and lower as Leicester was on top of the tables. So it is understandable why he only get that much.
One of my favourite footballing moments, and I’m not a Leicester fan. Amazing achievement.
And Ranirei just retired from football.
Spurs finishing 2nd is the REAL shock 😮
They finished 3rd.
Whatever they can't win a trophy
3rd in a 2 horse race 😂
@@askamundsen667 it's the history of the Tottenham
@@Xiphactinus such a original joke
As amazing of an achievement it was, it's funny thinking that every other season apart from one in the last 20 years, with the points tally that Leicester had, they wouldn't have won. Guess it was just written in the stars
Still the greatest underdog story to this day 🙂🙂🦊🦊
I loved that season it made a change in the premier league
Leicester win, was the best premiership season to date. Fairy tail year.
Remember as if it was yesterday, Remember everything from that night
Greatest achievement in British football history. Even a quadruple wouldn't be a scratch in this.
No it's not.
Funny because utds treble so far is still classed the greatest achievement. Its whether Liverpool can top it with a quad but this was astonishing, not the greatest achievement though
Watching this before we play Roma tonight, what a season that was
I think everyone except Tottenham fans wanted Leicester to win the league at that point
@@ClaraFinn You took the words out of my mouth
Thé only signing we made that season was Petr cech 😭😭
Arsenal 2016, 2011 and 2008 were good teams short of 2-3 world class players away from being elite. Wenger and the board’s refusal to invest stopped such a progression from ever happening. When Liverpool got a decent side in 2018, they invested in 2-3 world class signings and are reaping the rewards even now.
Biggest miracle in football history, no doubt.
I was watching that game! insane! I was supporting Tottenham cause my friend was a die hard Chelsea fan.😂 crazy how time flies
This was an incredible season for football.
The moment where everyone around the world claimed they were a Leicester city fan without even being able to pronounce Leicester right 💀
Winning the title with 77 points, now you'd probably finish 4th with that point tally. What a season that was.
Seems accurate, Liverpool at 3rd with 79 points and only one game left.
Thank God for giving me a chance to witness this beautiful scene in my life
That music piece at the end made it so much more epic.
crazy to see that it took only 77 points to Leicester to become champions, after seeing yesterday that liverpool did +90 twice but finished second
They could’ve had 72 points and still won, which is 27 lower than Liverpool finishing 2nd on 97
I hope Leicester will back to PL next season
They did but even better so did Ipswich Town which was a far superior achievement because they were newly promoted.
Best wishes for Leicester Premier League champions
Not a Leicester fan at all but I definitely became one this season. I hate the rollercoaster emotions of supporting a club, which is why I support no team but this was different. I became anxious, watching behind sofas etc, desperate for Leicester to win the league with every passing game, after around December. I would have been genuinely gutted had they not won it.
The best Monday Night Football EVER!
This reminds me of Kaiserslautern 1997/98. Long gone are the days.
Their best players were swiftly poached by European Giants afterwards and then they fell into crisis.
But Leicester done the craziest thing of all time
Trophy hunter, I presume?
So funny that it was probably hazards worst season, and hadn’t scored for over a year and his first goal to end his drought came against Tottenham 😭😭
I still can't comprehend how this happened. I don't think I ever will.
Fun fact: Conte's Tottenham ended this season with more points than that Tottenham that was supposedly fighting for the title.
really? the table shows spurs already has 70 points with 2 matches to play
Im Liverpool fan but this is completely one of sensetions of the PL!this is proof that you don't need money to win treble, quadruple, sixpule and etc
this is a proof that in football everything is possible
it's like Aston villa or Norwich winning the league
Fantastic achievement. And all because they took advantage of Chelsea's faffing about with the club's medic/Mourinho situation. Spurs were the only team challenging Leicester and in typical Spursy fashion, bottled and made Arsenal the runners up 10 points behind the champs.
Greatest ever story in the history of Football
I was at the Leicester Royal Infirmary when they won & all the staff & patients was going crazy.
6 years ago. Mad.
I'm from Leicester, can't describe the energy around the city that night and the following weeks..
Good old days when it was not just Pep v Klopp and the 18 other teams parking the bus
Love from India ❤️
Eid Mubarak
It’s quite anti climactic how only the last game of the season is played at the same time. In my opinion only the first half of games should be scheduled before the season, the second half should be scheduled only 4 games at time to ensure all sides playing to not get relegated or for the title and European spots all play in the last month of the league.
What? Pls explain sorry.
fact that Tottenham was close to winning it just shows how crazy a season that was
I remember this day like it was six years ago..
The biggest work in sporting history
Can we have some serious respect for Ranieri please? What he did to keep that squad motivated, focused, calm and plying for 38 games was insane. Yet it's Poch getting the big offers 😂 🤦🏻♂️
A beautiful moment and I remember the general euphoria in the wider footballing world on that day after this match.
truly a moment I almost couldn't believe as a Fox, what a season we had 😭🙏
@Paul if it makes you feel better we’ve now bottled 4th place for the past two seasons on the last day despite almost certainly having it in the bag 😅 bottled our europa league campaigns too, hopefully this isn’t the start of us being the new bottlers in chief 😂
what a poor season everyone else had too.
You can never hate them
Big difference compared to today's competition, after 36 games Leicester won the title on 77 points.
Right now Liverpool leads after 35 games on 83 points, with City likely going ahead of that.
Have to do much better to win the title these days!
“These days” haha. You don’t know what you’re talking about. 2015/16 season was relatively low scoring season because all the big dogs were just playing poorly that season.
But that doesn’t take away from what Leicester did being 5000/1 odds to win the league.
The previous season (2014/15) ended on 86 points and the season after (16/17) ended on 93 points.
@@jk844100 so you're telling me the levels back then to win the title are comparatively equal to the level City and Liverpool are at now?
Please.
@@landaxe2 like I said, the next season ended on 93 points sooo
Honestly this is something we will get to see once in a century
As a Tottenham fan, it was a very sad moment. But as a football fan, it really was a nice moment.
The fact it was Chelsea, the previous champion, the one to ensure leicester's triumph was like passing down the trophy "it's yours kid, take it"
My dad had a massive stroke that night, from which he never recovered. Always kind of tainted it for me.
@skysportsretro you should upload the whole section when they go though all the games after the initial reaction
