My guest today, Lisa Copeland, believes in giving you her honest opinion - regardless of whether what she says is easy or popular.

A friend of mine recently told me that his 95 year old great aunt recently married the love of her life, and they honeymooned with a world cruise. She is a lecturer, and he's a retired pastry chef. With that being said, she's scaled back her lecturing schedule -- not because of her age -- but to spend more time with him ... and sample pastries, I presume.

Don’t be needy and depressed. No one is attracted to that…man or woman. Don’t talk about your kids…unless someone knows you they don’t care. Don’t drink too much….that’s a killer. Make them feel important….Don’t grill them….just be lighthearted.
I got remarried at 79, it can happen!
Dating after sixty is tricky. It seems like the pool of available men is really small. Also, I find that it's harder to tell how old people are. I can't tell if a man is in his forties or his sixties. Then there are the younger men that seem to be attracted to older women. It's tempting but hard to want to start something that will likely be a short term thing. I've been trying for years, but I'm not giving up.
I know how it feels to be lonely without our love ones, we've all lost our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I understand how you feel but life must move on because death is inevitable no matter how hard we try! And we'll all have to face it someday, and every of our love ones we’ve lost will wanna see us happy anywhere they’re. I lost my oldest daughter Annabel on February 24th 2020 during the lockdown on a car accident, and she just turned 22 on her last birthday before she got knocked down by a moving vehicle 🚗 and so unluckily for me that horrible day the driver was drunk. That was the worst and most lamentable day of my life as a single Dad raising two kid's, my 17 years old son Clark and my 4 legged 🐶 families are my everything and the reason I still keep strong, and keep going! My late wife also passed away 3 years ago from a shocking disease, I felt deeply devastated with grief, and I was so heartbroken 💔 God and time are indeed the best healers.

I agree with you. There doesn't seem to be many men, that are available. We also all carry life's baggage with us, and both parties have to be careful how we deal with that aspect of a friendship.

Comment: 1st date should not be a job interview OR a tell all. Please keep some mystery. In my mid-70's are there are wonderful men out there who are not looking for a 'purse or a nurse'. I am subscribing.
A couple of years ago I found myself in a romantic situation. My chest started pounding so hard I thought I'd have a heart attack if I kept going! I think he was relieved when I said STOP I can't breathe!

Getting honest with yourself is so important! We also totally agree that it's tough online. We're hoping to start an in person "speed dating" event for us women over 50 at some point... maybe not so "speedy" though... It'd be more like "spud" dating haha 🥔

That’s a problem when you start dating when you’re older as they pass away, men usually before the women and really I don’t want have to take care of a man, I’ve been a caregiver my whole life that just does not in the least interest me and frankly even though I am fairly well myself I want to take and do self-care And not worry about everybody else
What about younger men?

I’m the same as Mary. I like my independence. Ironically, I’m married to a really exceptionally kind man, but we keep separate households. Works for both of us.

Suzanne Derringer Yes, that’s true. Mind you, I’d rather live in a caravan than live with a man just to save money. I’m too set in my ways, and so is he.
This is more and more common. My aunt and uncle have been married for over 50 years, and have kept separate households in different states for the last 20. It works incredibly well for both of them, and they see each other when they feel that need. Not for everyone, but I think it's something some people should consider.

@@charlestremblay256 Hi Charles, I am not an expert but I will say I dated several men(once and done dates) met 2 wonderful guys ... close friends with one and in a relationship with another(a little over a year now) The adage that we have to kiss a lot of frogs(frogesses?) is not untrue. I was blessed to meet several nice gentlemen and quite a few "crazy ones"... so my best advice would be to take a deep breath and keep the faith.

Cute "bookstore" story. I've had that happen to me a few times at various places only because I am outgoing and can make casual conversation; you just have to be thick skinned. I find the "quality" of men out there has really gone down hill.
