    I bought this can best one after owning other brands. I stalled on new 2017 silverado and it does its job esp living in FL with year round hot temps . I drain it every two weeks just to see what it catches and it catches the dirty oil mist perfectly. Glad I installed it when the truck only had 300 mi or so. Well worth the money . Dont but cheap or copy cat cans only this one.

    I recently purchased a 2016 Tahoe 5.3L with 80K miles. I haven't noticed any problems yet, but a quality catch can system is definitely in my future and yours is the best I've seen. I've checked out your offering for my vehicle on your website. Question: Regarding the hose between the modified oil cap and the air bridge assembly, could you possibly offer a hose with a pre-bent 90 instead of the straight hose? Seems like this would eliminate long term wear on the two o-rings in the modified oil cap. Thanks.

    Why did you cap off one side and then have to drill into the air box you could have just ran your wide open throttle line to the air box and not have to drill voiding the warranty

    I dont understand why you need to do all of this to accomplish the results. Seems to me like simply interrupting the dirty pvc air with a oil separator is all that is needed.

      James Horrocks funny how they don’t comment on questions like these. They don’t give two shits and a fart about your engine it’s all about the $$$. I use the Moroso separator on my 2014 and it works bitchin as do so many other filters.. the whole check valve thing is bull also.

    Great video and very informative, I have the 15 Silverado crew cab 5.3 v8, just a few months ago my engine started rough idling, took it to the dealer, they told me it was a loose spark plug wire which they corrected, but it didn't fix the idle, their last solution would be to flush out the intake with a chemical that would remove all of the carbon for $300,00. what's the price and installation fee for the oil catch can compared to the dealers solution? Please reply would really appreciate it, Thanks in advance!

      You can do the clean out your self for about 20 bucks. Super easy to do. Look up sea foam injector and intake cleaning for your particular vehicle on UA-cam. Dealer is ripping you off.

    I feel bad now about running my 18 Sierra up to 6k before i changed the oil still haven’t gotten my 2nd change but think imma pass on the free ones from the dealer and run amsoil feel bad that GM doesn’t “approve” of it cuz it’s not dexos but imma run it anyway and hope nothing ever happens while it’s in my engine .

      Andrew Garcia I bough me a 2018 with 20 miles and my first oil change I used AMSOIL and I use that brand since 2005 in my Buick with 310000 original miles using AMSOIL all the way. I’m planning to do the same on my Silverado. I do my own services not planning to take my truck yo the dealer. I do recommend you to use an oil catch can and disable the 4 cyl crap

    wondering, now that it’s installed my pedals vibrate at low RPM when the motor switches to V4. is that a normal thing?

    Great video. Bought a new 17 Silverado High Country 6.2L and installed a AEM dry Performance filter and Airaid intake tube. Also dumped the factory oil at 600 kms and using Amsoil Signature Series. Ordered a Elite RX catch can and separator just waiting for it to arrive to install. Question can I put the fitting on the bottom of the intake tube instead of the top would look more tidy?

    • @tracylewisperformance1328
      @tracylewisperformance1328  7 років тому

      Yes you can. It is hidden when doing on the bottom and many prefer this. Other wise all looks like it came from the factory. Once you install it please check back and post your fuel mileage compared to pre-install. Should gain 1-3 MPG. Good move to get the factory fill oil and all the debris it contains out and none better than Amsoil!

      Tracy Lewis Performance I will for sure. There's a little over 3000kms on truck good time to install. Been using Amsoil Signature Series and filter since 5 year's love the stuff and the once a year oil change. Thanks again

    How would i install in a 5.3 single turbo setup? Where do i route the clean air separator hose to?

    • @SMPULLEN
      @SMPULLEN 5 років тому

      Arturo F same place. The check valve will keep the can from pressuring from boost.

    what happens if you don't have the secondary evacuation port drilled into the air intake? My elite catch can has the provision to add that if needed. It has a allen set screw covering that hole on the catch can.

    Hi Tracy so I just bought my first Catch can RX big can but after installed and turned the engine there’s a small hissing noise Coming from the suction side or the dirty side hose and seems like a small hissing not sure if that’s a normal thing ? Or the hoses provided are to small ?

    Is a dual exit better than a single exit catch can

  • @jewllake
    @jewllake 6 років тому

    On a N/A motor like my 2018 6.2 do I need the exit port that goes on to the throttle body? My catch can has on exit port; I do have the clean side separator on my oil cap.

    I have a 2016 Sierra with a cold air intake... Will I have to drill into the intake tube like the video shows the stock unit ?

    • @tracylewisperformance1328
      @tracylewisperformance1328  6 років тому

      Correct. Drill it underneath in the same location. We include a 1/4 NPT tap in the kit just for this.

    Nice and great product but what is the correct way for a turbo setup (L83 5.3 2016)

    • @tracylewisperformance1328
      @tracylewisperformance1328  6 років тому

      ua-cam.com/video/-IPgG9vDf6s/v-deo.html But for a turbo, the second outlet from the can with checkavlve flowing away from the can will attache to a barb you add into the turbo inlet (coupler) instead of the CAI tube.

      Just use the barbs on it that relate to each of the stock ones. Let me know if you need more details. www.RXCatchcans.com

    Hi there
    Where’s the PCV valve located on this truck? I need to change that. Thanks in advance.

    • @tracylewisperformance1328
      @tracylewisperformance1328  6 років тому

      On all LT based GDI engines there is no longer a PCV valve as older engines had. In the valley cover there is a PCV cartridge that is a one way valve only allowing flow out and a fixed orifice to regulate the rate of flow. Rarely need replacing. On the LS based engines except the very early ones 1997-2000, have the fixed orifice located in the rear of the driverside valve cover. Also non replaceable. LS6 and newer LS engines have this in the valley cover.

    HOW WOULD I INSTALL WITH A GM PERFORMACE COLD AIR INTAKE?

    • @tracylewisperformance1328
      @tracylewisperformance1328  6 років тому

      Same way, just add the second barb for outlet just in front of the TB. We now do these underneath so it is a cleaner install.

  • @SecretPatriot5508
    @SecretPatriot5508 6 років тому

    That would be for a 2017 Silverado with 5.3?

  • @dcast1985

    So has gm done anything about this issue?

    • @tracylewisperformance1328
      @tracylewisperformance1328  7 років тому +1

      To date the LT based engines have tons of improvements over the LS based design, but nothing new on the GDI LT based. The changes from the LS are what I believe the best valve cover design ever with 3 condensing and coalescing towers to slow ingestion, and an improved baffle system under the valley plate, but there can be no real solution except an external separation system. If what is caught is returned, it is reintroducing the contaminates in concentrate to the engine oil. The new LGX V6 GDI engine GM recently released they eliminated the "positive" function of the PCV system so they are leaving most of the wear causing compounds in the crankcase greatly shortening the engine life in trade for slightly reduced coking.

    • @tracylewisperformance1328
      @tracylewisperformance1328  6 років тому

      Reversion pulses do NOT reach past the throttle body until well over 8,000 RPM so we don't have that as an issue
