Just picked up a brand new rx100 for 100$. Thanks for the video, I’m new at photography so I’m trying to understand all the settings and lingo. Thanks!
I have the Mark V but I pretty much parallel what your doing. I think I have ISO set on one of my function buttons. I also have a button shortcut to the ND filter which is really handy.
Hello Richard, I presently have the Sony HX 90 which I bought mainly for the zoom and compact size, I'm wondering if its worth me buying the RX100 for the better quality picture especially with the bigger sensor. I have seen one online for £115 grade B and it can be returned free of charge if I'm not happy with it. What are your thoughts. Thank you.
My settings appear different. I’m M mode I only have 4 features across the top and not one is the video so I’m stuck at setting it up. I don’t have the card or the spanner or times?
Hi Richard, I have an RX100 bought in 2013, so I'm guessing it is a Mark 1? It's a great little camera, but it has developed an irritating habit whenever it is moved - a continuous noisy whirring which sounds like the autofocus - and I don't seem able to influence it whatever I do, and despite having watched your excellent video. Any help would be much appreciated!
Hello, is it possible to make video with rx 100 when is dark in the night? If it's possible can you explain me how to make video in this case. Thanks a lot!
Exposure compensation is set by default on the down button. Unfortunately, this only works in P, A & S modes. When I use the button in Manual mode., it switches between Av and Tv setting. Any idea how to change this button to open exposure compensation in M mode?
First, make sure histogram is enabled as an option in the settings. To do that, go to the 3rd tab at settings (the one with the wheel), and then go to the DISP button (monitor) where you check the histogram option. To make the histogram appear, you just press the upper DISP button until you see the histogram.

Great news they are good cameras, try full manual with ISO on the ring
@@RichardBarleyphoto what is the reason? Is it not for aperture?
@Ray you can set the ring to many functions, such as ISO, shutter speed and so on. I use mine to control aperture.

Thanks a lot! Sony's manual is miserable. They should provide a link to this video.

I'm awaiting an SD card in the post and can't wait to get cracking with my new toy. Thank you

mine is faulty too, if it makes a nice image just keep using it, they are uneconomical to repair
Make a software update
Can we charge the battery while the USB power supply is turned on?

When you use manual, you change the exposure manualy by changing ISO, aperture and time, so exposure compensation works only in P, S and A
