Just wanna send out healing vibes to DH racers Brook MacDonald and Kate Weatherly. They both sustained spinal cord injuries while practicing in the days leading up to the race. Get well soon guys, we're all thinking about you!
Brook is still in Quebec for rehab, he is making a lot of progress and started walking and leg pressing again after last week surgeries. Not the best way to enjoy my city :(
@@BCpov hey you know how you crashed i did what u. I'm not an expert and just starting taking bigger drops and I think I could do it on a 100mm xc with the saddle down, but with the saddle up (and mine is nowhere near as high as theirs) I would just faceplant I think ahha
Great video, very informative. It would have been nice to mention the results of the women race. What Myriam Nicole and Tahnee Seagrave managed to do was impressive. Finish 1st and 2nd for their first race of the season... Great come back from injuries!
The sportsmanship in mountain biking and the atmosphere as a whole is amazing, I really love watching these videos. However I know myself well enough that I should never get on one of those bikes, I'd probably become a permanent feature on a tree somewhere. Glad I found this channel
That's my hometown, I was there just a week before the start. I wanted to go to the top on the mountain but the lift wasn't running and we didn't have enough time to hike up. We rented some cross country bikes. One day, I want to see it in person, it's such a big event. I used to ride the original trail along Jean Larose River about 40 years ago while in high school, mountain bikes didn't exist then. I used my road bike. It's come a long way since.
I’ve watched all the coverage and recaps of this season and this race, and BCPOV you’ve done the best job with it all in this one video. I will be sharing it. Thanks for a job wellllllll done!
Saw my first in person major UCI race event this season at Snowshoe World Cup Finals, and had a similar experience. Was so much fun to watch and be out on the course. I think we should call these active spectator events as it trumps sitting in a stadium. Great video, hope to see these events grow in the USA and in general.
Wow, I'm probably a 5 hour drive from this and had no idea it was so wicked. I'll have to keep an eye out next year for any pro races here. Thanks Eric.
Really enjoyed yours and Yuka's videos of the World Champs. Troy's been living on the podium all season. Thought he finally got a win, but the Frenchies are tearing it up. If it's not Pierron, it's Loic for the win.
Eric, was fun to meet your there! We walked down from the finish line towards the award area together. Funny, I asked about Guyon and the next week he was in a vid!
UCI World Championships also predate the UCI World Cup by decades. So the rainbow stripes have much more (road cycling) history behind them. Loved the video. Especially the champagne to the face Bruni got from Troy.
Yeah, it's cycling's biggest honor. You get to wear the stripes as your main motif for 1 year, then get to use them as a secondary motif forever as long as you don't change disciplines or classes. PFP is the only rider to have ever won 3 rainbow stripes in a 12-month period: she once won MTB XCO (October back then), CX (February) and road (September).
Very well done! It's a great link to share with people who are just getting into MTB'ing, so they can get hooked on the sport. You did some GREAT camera work in this. What camera were you using?
sony a6500 :) but! I have hours and hours of footage to choose from, so i tried to get the best shots in there.. theres a bit of gopro from yuka mixed in as well!
@@BCpov ... Thanks man! I have been wanting to get something reasonable for "off the bike" footage. I have a nice Canon point and shoot, but the video just isn't great.
This is a bit confusing....This event should be called WoldCup like in football / soccer (most important) and the series should be called World Championship (like a League) I'm the only one who thinks this way? Ps: nice video
Wait I thought road bikes are super fast cars and Downhill bikes are monster trucks and Enduro bikes are monster trucks with better engines and that kind of stuff.
Well halfway through the season most riders are out of contention for the overall. By the end of the season the overall may only be relevant for the top 2-5 riders. World Champs is then an opportunity for ALL the riders to have their shot at glory.
Tech course hahaha We call this a normal trail in ct where there are so many rocks the whole park is a tech trail This is just a joke guys are awesome I personally prefer downhill over cross country but they are both fun
nono, wrong explanation to why this WChampionship is the most important to win, over the WCup.. in the WCup you can actually gather points to win it at the end, with out even finishing on a single 1st place.. Just imagin gathering points from 2nd, all season, and then it is diffrent people who score 1st place points in each race, but of those none of them succed in any good placings in all other WCup races. - so you cant be a World Champion if you never won a single race !, this is why WChampionship is more important, because the guy who ends up as No1, is the winner ! That is just my opinion, I know you will be the best average rider.. but cant be WChampion if you never won a race !

Nicely done Eric! Whether it's storytelling from far away places or putting keen perspectives on world-class events, your narration is superb.
Great story telling and editing, packed a ton into 11.5 minutes, good work.

Welcome in Québec hope you like mi town 🤘🤘
You've understated how close downhill is. The TOP 20 is within 10 seconds.
