    I always have liked those kind of rifles. I like Colts and Winchesters in general. Whenever I have seen an old lightening at a gun show they have always wanted too much. More than I can afford.

    Hi Mark, Irony!, just this very afternoon I was visiting "The Gun Shop and Range" in Leesburg Florida and there is one of these Lightning rifles right there in .38 cal. It's in "very good" condition and had to be many years in someone's collection I would suspect as this place is near the retirement community of "The Villages"... He had an asking price tag on it at 4k if I saw it correctly and it was displayed in a glass counter case.. ..It looks like the one you show in the middle of the 3 you have on this video...Great video's Sir, I enjoy them much and thanks for sharing your experience with us..Best Regards, D.

    The Taurus version of that rifle is a total copy. I was laughing when you described how to put that rifle back together it is a serious PITA.

    What an outstanding, educational video. Have often wondered what the internals of a Lightning looks like? Thanks, this was very entertaining and informational for me. Enjoy your upcoming trip to Cody.

    What is absolutely necessary with a top eject system is a large brass-funnel western hat. Otherwise one could burn some sensitive skin somewhere. 😆
    The 44 magnum sort of replaced the 44-40. However, nothing in a rimmed casing today actually replaced the 38-40, except maybe the 10mm but that's rimless.

    Both of these carbines are very nicely manufactured. Thanks Mark for demonstrating these carbines. I first noticed the flaking of plating with a silver plated S&W #2 in .32 rimfire. Nice shooting Mark.

    What a great, well done and instructive video. I finally know more about internal parts, how they work and fit together. I now understand how to disassemble and reassemble a 44-40 lightning with the tricky part to pay attention to.
    Again thanks a lot! 👍😃

    Thanks a lot Mark, I've been too chicken to break down my second year manufactured Colt Lightning until I found a recent Cinnabar showing me how. Shortly after acquiring the firearm I purchased a mold, dies, brass etc. and it shoots nice, 2" and sometimes better, the sights had a bit of a learning curve. Anyway, I'd like to try bp loads and will buy a mold that carries more lube. I do want to be able to take it apart, but after removing the tang screw I am unable to remove the butt stock. Is there a trick?

    Do you shoot smokeless from these old guns?
    Anyway super video!
    I Have Baby Carbine 32-20 first model with safety lock near trigger. It works great for now. Bud I am using Black powder just for sure. A lot of cleaning needed :-/

    • @thecinnabar8442
      @thecinnabar8442  7 місяців тому +1

      I shoot both black powder loads and light "cowboy action" smokeless loads in Lightnings. The smokeless cowboy action loads actually produce less pressure than black powder loads and it's far easier to clean up afterwards. For plinking, they're very enjoyable and safe to shoot, contrary to much of the misinformation out there on the internet. I've posted a couple of videos on the subject.

    The ruling on Measure 114 by judge Karin Immergut was a shocker on Friday, you're on your way to Canadian style gun control laws.

    • @thecinnabar8442
      @thecinnabar8442  Рік тому

      Regardless of how she ruled, this was always destined for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and a likely appeal to the US Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the entire law is still injuncted while it makes its way through the state court system.

    • @markcarew6724
      @markcarew6724 Рік тому

      @@thecinnabar8442 I'm certainly glad to hear the ruling is still under legal consideration. Things are real tough in Canada for firearm owners and getting worse.
