Bloody brilliant band...... RIP Dave and Jet Black.
An accompaniment to any punk rockers life from 1976. A slow burner of a band that has been a staple in the genre and beyond . They are truly exceptional.
The Stranglers were the reason I bought a ticket last year. What a great show it was. R.I.P. Dave Greenfield.........
Forty years after first hearing these classics they still sound-just as good.
JJ Burnell is one of the greatest and underrated bassists EVER!!!
The only original member
Not underrated. Underappreciated.
Never ever underrated
What makes you believe he's underrated?
@@gogoyubari366 It"s probably coz JJ never ends up on these best guitarist lists?
Rip dave ._.. no matter what the future brings the stranglers music will never die
Dave Greenfield is a huge loss, thoughts immediately goes to all the family, friends, band and every fan who was fortunate enough to witness his keyboard wizardry, a true genius. Gutted to see the 2021 tour of GB cancelled, hopefully try and fly out somewhere for a gig or two. Godblessthemeninblack
Whatever happened to me when it was 1977 and I was eleven years old and listened to the stranglers the very first time and fell in love with them and with punk what last until today and will never leave me. To watch JJ still makes me greedy hanging around with him and have a nice 'n' sleazy time with him. 5 minutes would be worth my little finger.
tremendous band. Quality musicians and the bass player jeez fantastic.
RIP Dave Greenfield! And be strong, men in black! Hope to see you here in Brazil!
What a great band. The passing of Dave really shocked and upset me so much because I was lucky enough to meet him after one of their shows, years ago. What a great musician and an even better guy. RIP Dave.
No Hugh either not the same band anymore and Jet Black is old as fuck too
Greatest band of all time.
The choice is difficult, because i love The Stranglers as much than Depeche Mode, Talk Talk, OMD, AlPhaville, Pink Floyd, Indochine (french band) or B. Movie.and other bands... RIP Dave Greenfield.
@Carl Von Finland Hahahahaha
😊 I am from the United Kingdom and I’ve been a fan of this band since the 70s, how they haven’t cracked America, is beyond belief, one of the best punk rock bands ever.
They are not punk, never were.
some of us... state-side have been wondering the same thing... Fan since the beginning. Thrilled to see them in about 86 in Seattle. and this lineup at Weyfest in the UK in 2013. Most under-rated band ever. ever. ever.... ever.
JJ Burnell, One of the best bass players out there!
Why?
He sounds so tight and crisp. I read he used guitar amps to make them punch like that and have a loud midrange back then@@andrepereira744
interviwed jaco pastorious, played him stranglers on a walkman, i said jaco everyones raving this bassist, HIS REPLY ? REALLY WHY PLAYS LIKE A KID PUB PLAYER, AN AVERAGE JOE
@@fashionicon1972 prove it
@@fashionicon1972 Maybe he didn't like punk music!
Tight drummer super bass fabulous Dave great vocals couldn’t ask for anything better great gig
Classic song from a Classic band keep rocking boys Dave and Jet would want that 👍🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Fantastic band.
I was homeless at this time in San Diego and still made it up to the LA gig they did right after or right before this. Punk Rock Bowling, and that LA gig at The Regent, would be the last two gigs the Stranglers played in the US, with Dave Greenfield. They haven't been back since and I doubt they will be. So grateful to have seen them; my life's #1 bucket list wish complete, what a fucking great gig it was.
Good people go to heaven that's for you dave r I p. Very proud of you give me lots of music pleasure. thanks
Bowling, the Stranglers - what the fuck is not to like. Thanks for playing it -- again and again -- it's like the water of life for some of us. It really is. Stranglers forever. xxxooo
WHY these legends never made it in America is beyond me just look HOW much these fans love it THE STRANGLERS what a band 🐀🐀🖤
big in america 1986
First time listening to this band and damn I really like them. Great video🤘🏽
mega exhilaration, thanks lads, that was amazing, r.i.p Dave , not sure anyone can do your job as well as you did, the real making sound of the stranglers and i take nothing away from the rest of you as you are the best. love the stranglers from 1978 to 2021.
First rock gig I attended Australia 1985 . The songs still have stood the test of time.
Gooooööööd I Love thath Band & Bass Sound's!
I met the gentleman who was Dave Greenfield before their gig in Hull (UK), some years ago, 2014 i think. Such a kind unassuming soul, and spoke to me like i was a friend. Seen these legands many times, including at 'Reading Rock' 1983. RIP Dave & Jet ❤❤

This was a highlight, thanks PRB for posting this !
Great set... perfect choice for the playlist, too. I still get pins and needles listening to The Stranglers.
Fucking brilliant.
Who disliked this? Oh I see: "no Hugh, no Stranglers" :-)
😂
Great gig thanks !!
Great set
Brilliant band. I've seen them many times. Shame that this year is their last ever tour.
Got invited to a free pre tour gig for the Stranglers in Coventry Tick Tock Club in I think 89 ish amazing night.
God bless Dave the soul of the stranglers
RIP Dave Greenfield.
Shame the cameraman didnt catch Dave's trademark pint downing trick.
Fuckin brilliant. Haven't been following the stranglers since Hugh left. I was a huge fan back in the day. Great set. That Gordie bloke is fuckin great! Respect to all concerned. Rip Dave. Xxx
That Geordie bloke you refer to Baz Warner,
Is actually a Mackem from Sunderland !
He wouldn't be impressed 😡🤣
Sorry about that. Got that wrong then. My apologies. Im just a thick South Londoner. 😂🙏🙏 Ive since read up on Baz warner, What a Great Geeza! Long live The Music❤@@stephenbennett1643
Vi amo cari amici!.
Rip dave greenfield
Great performance, and great recording! Can we look forward to more being released?
Rip DAVE........❤
I knew this was abroad, no Yeahs with Always the Sun!
Brilliant bass from JJ. Strange seeing them outdoors.
The Stranglers rule!
I was there that weekend, a great line up.
Saw them twice in Aberdeen - 1981/2
God, I miss live music.
Just watched them in adelaide last night-still got it-keyboard player big shoes to fill and he aint half bad😃xx-great show boys
jj is the bomb its baz thats truly underated r.i.p. dave greeenfield a true master of his craft and a super nice fellah
Wow, they really went with the early material for this show.
I saved up and bought the tape live x cert at 12 years old thats when my balls dropped , absolute LEGENDS
Miss you Hugh cornwell
J J, Dave & Baz had great chemistry
C'est lui Jean avec respect!
I remember getting no more heros for xmas as a school boy, and squirming with horror when I played it on my dad's hifi when bring on the nubiles came on ...
As a big fan of The Stranglers I offer two piano covers: Waltzinblack and Strange Litte Girl. Long Life The Stranglers!!! 👍👍
So sad I didn't want to spend the $$ to finally be able to see the Stranglers after 39 years as a fan. Went and bought a mountain bike instead. RIP Dave Greenfield. Thanks for posting this
Putting the stranglers on an American punk festival list?.....never going to be an easy nights work.....add to that there were clearly equipment problems with key's and guitars....out of their comfort zone?....may be a little.......but out of their depth Never.....dig deep and it's always quality that shines through......true professionalism...class act.
Play Curfew

I love the Stranglers from the first time I´ve heard them (1977 No more Heroes Album). When Hugh has gone I thought there would be no real Stranglers more... Later I ´ve slowly accepted them with Baz.
But now, without Dave Greenfield keyboards, I am really affraid there will be no real Stranglers more...
This is not JJ's best performance btw..... and I forgive him. My Hero!
😎 Markku&Hunnit 🌹🤟
I would love to hear Daves isolated keyboard and vocal tracks.
Fuck ya the best
Can you get me a copy of this on DVD region 2 ? I'd be more than happy to pay whatever the price , or trade with some of my huge stranglers DVD collection. I've been after this gig for ages but I've had no luck whatsoever. Superb stuff.
You need to write to Punk Rock Bowling they probably don't read the comments.
It sounds odd, it's like the person mixing voices and drums was pretty qualified, but there´s somebody else mixing keyboards, bass and guitar, which wasn´t qualified at all !!
No 'Skin Deep' ? One of their biggest hits!
Kupelan musik honekin!!
As a big fan i still prefer hugh on lead! (Over baz w)No doubt..
"Big in America"?😎
It's good that James Corden stepped in to fill on drums ;-)
7:30
where's jet black?
maybe with the oxygene tube... :P
The FpCassini...Jet retired in 2015 due to ill health & sadly passed away aged 84 December 2022
Must say I always miss Hugh Cornwells` voice
😳... 🤨. 🤣!
Only one original member left then. Sad. Great sound though. I've loved this band since 1980.
Mes amis en 1975 à Belfast!.
Didnt Hugh leave 30 years ago? For fecks sake move on people!!!
Its like the jam without weller tribute band sorry
Seems strange Hugh not singing
Crowd not a patch on ya typical english fans ._.._.._.But thanx for coming lol
are you referring to the UK or just England as I can tell you the Scottish fans are very hard to beat. I have seen them loads of times 1st gig I saw them at was 1979 and Hugh Cornwall always said the best gigs they played were in Glasgow!!
@@BCCmma64bang yeah uk fans my friend.._love the scots
24:46 Golden Brown
Without jet dave and hugh we have no stranglers we call it a day
Disagree but it's an understandable reaction. These songs are great. Unforgettable and timeless tunes. I'd have no problem attending the next version of them. I'm sorry I missed seeing them all my life.
@@tomallen5837 without them you end up with a tribute band and there are a few already
@@essexpaul6423 Your point has not been made until JJ is no longer in the band. So until then....
@@tomallen5837 I don't think we can agree. For me the essence of the group goes as members leave. Someone joins but the mix has changed. I would have seen them this year but without dave no point
Yaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnn
Glad i grew up with them and saw them live with the best line up ever.hugh.jj.jet.and the best keyboard player ever.rip.dave.sorry baz dont cut it.
JJ did not sing in some of the iconic songs where he did in the past....and to be honest looked quite bored
