Facts! Biscioti told them to invest in him or it's a waste. That meant Marty Mohrinwheg had to go. Promote Greg Roman and draft players that fit that system. Remember Harbaugh said we want rugged tough WRs here and if thats isn't you this isn't the team for you but you are going to miss out on something special. They knew what they had in Lamar!

    Thoughts:
    1. Ozzie Newsome drafted three of the NFL'S top 100 players.
    2. In 1996, the Ravens had two first-round picks. They chose Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis.
    3. Lamar Jackson is having an Allen Iverson-like impact on the NFL. When Iverson entered the league, there were no small guards that dominated basketball games in their entirety. The NFL has not seen this level of talent and productivity in an individual. Lamar will lead the NFL in touchdown passes, QBR, and will finish top-five in rushing yards.
Just as AI was must-see TV, same for AI.
Lamar feels like he is for the culture, just like AI.

I'll play devils advocate and say that a lot of teams weren't built for lamar both from a coaching and team perspective. The Ravens have a really good defense, a really good running back, a really good complementary back, and a top 3-5 head coach. They went all in to build the offense around Lamar Jackson's skillset and it paid off. That's just my opinion why a lot of teams wouldn't want to spend a first round pick on him when they don't have the necessary tools to maximize his potential. The Ravens are a great and healthy organization, QBs drafted in the first rarely get that

Lamar Jackson also seems dedicated to improving year round. They're a great organization and he's a great player and they deserve all the success they get.

Agreed. Jackson is forcing the entirety of the league to completely upturn their coaching style. They're too used to the "big guy in the center" and crafting their defense and offense around that. Jackson is reminding people that if you continue running that style, you are going to get outsmarted by an offense that now has a QB that is quick and nimble AND a good passer.
Lamar has amazing game sense. He can see holes open up in the defense and run in. Too many teams are used to these QBs being slow to respond to holes in the pocket but Lamar knows how to turn on the jets as soon as he sees it loosen and he's torn apart defensive lines because of it.
Jackson is a proper evolution for the NFL. I hope to see more QBs of Jackson's caliber in the future.

No it’s called knowing the value of a player from perspective of the league. Yes they could’ve gotten him at 25, but that may have been arguably reaching a bit since they got him at 32 we may never have gotten Hurst at 32.

When you have year over year, decade after decade black QB being consistently pushed to play other positions or their college play downplayed while other QB are propped up despite their film, the only common factor is the race of the player.

Alex Flowers, REALTOR good number but what about the 10 years before that or the 80 years before that? The last 10 years have proven that black people can play Qb and most of those picks were clearly better then most in college. See my thing is this with a lot of stuff, it’s about generations. If a former black player from like the 60s wanted his son to play Qb he would probably make him switch positions because he knows how hard it is to make it in the NFL. Unlike somebody like Archie Manning who had his sons play Qb since a young age and knew the plan as a black player from that generation it was no way you telling your sons to play Qb because you know how hard it is. So now Blacks are generations behind that’s why some are hesitant to take black QBs because they mostly only know white QBs.

It’s not really an NFL narrative though. It’s historically the recipe for success. Name 20 qb’s that have succeeded and won championships with his style of play. Huge Lamar Jackson fan but I hate that everybody’s using his success to push their own agenda.

    • @gracialonignasiver6302
      @gracialonignasiver6302 4 роки тому +1

@@juansosa6050 That's a very flawed line of thinking. There have only been around 2 to 5 QB's in the history of the league with the skill set of Lamar or Vick. Compare that to the literally hundreds of QB's throughout the NFL's history who have been the prototypical tall and immobile QB then of course you won't see as many QB's with Lamar's skill set winning championships. But that's just sheer probability. If at any given time the League has 31 Classical QB's and 1 Lamar style QB, then the odds are heavily in favor for a Classical style QB to win the Super Bowl.

All the people trying to make this about race are disgusting. The NFL has drafted a bunch of black QBs in the top 10 picks of the draft over the last couple decades. Lamar Jackson fell due to a very low Wonderlic score and college tape full of inaccurate throws and overall play that wasn't seen as being easily translatable to the NFL. Everyone bringing race up in this discussion should be ashamed of themselves.

The people that are ignoring the white tendency to tell black QBs to play QB and WR because they are fast is more disgusting. If QB's like Nathan Peterman can start multiple games for the Bills, and get picked up bt the Raiders as their backup, your whole suggestion that white coaches and owners are objective about inaccurate throws of black QBs is ridiculous. They see possibility in inaccurate white QBs, but not black ones.
