Great review as always. Glad you so eloquently pointed out how the placement and orientation of a speaker (and especially this type of speaker) impacts its perceived sound quality. You can in effect “EQ” a speaker simply by where you put it and how you place it there. I personally own a Bose SoundLink Micro, Bose SoundLink Flex, Tribit Micro 1, Tribit Micro 2, and several other small high quality Bluetooth speakers. This new Tribit Micro 2 and the Bose Flex are my 2 personal favorites. They are different speakers in many ways and so they play different roles in my needs. Right tool for the right job. Just want you to know that my business for 30 plus years has been working with high end sound equipment and sound engineers in a major downtown theater. I truly appreciate high quality equipment and the technology that makes it happen. Your love of sound gear truly comes across in your reviews. Much appreciated! I’ll wrap my comments up with this. This little inexpensive speaker is a marvel. I highly recommend your viewers to get two of them to do true wireless stereo and be prepared to be blown away!

Yeah, I think the micro 2 is definitely worth the extra $ between the two with the advantage of volume, the controls being easier to see, better battery, and the option of app support. It is really un JBL-like of Tribit to allow the new gen to connect to the old but props to them for doing that. Thank you for another outstanding Alan Ross Review! 😁👍👏
I believe prices vary by country but I think the Micro 1 is better value on Amazon Australia as it's two thirds the price of the Micro 2 (or Micro 2 costs 50% more) at their discounted price. I got a Micro 1 because it seemed to be better value.
Thanks Alan for this review. The improved battery life and the ability to use the Stormbox Micro 2 as a power bank is really nice to see. This power bank option could really be a life saver. One of the few times I forgot to charge my phone ahead of time, I had a bad crash on my bicycle and couldn't call for a ride. I ended up riding several miles with some injuries, fractured collar bone, sternum, etc. and my bike was a bit messed up too. I really would have loved to have had a battery power bank then. I know my helmet was broken in a dozen different spots so at least I didn't bounce my head directly off the pavement. I need to preserve what little brain power I have. 😀
“Smaller is better just ask my girlfriend” 😂😂😂 Another banger as usual Alan, I like the Micro 2 here. More brighter sound, but it ain’t something that’s too ear fatiguing on me.

This is probably the best sound-price ratio "micro" speaker ever. I would like to see a comparison with Minirig mini 2 and especially Vifa City (I bought it for 40$) which may actually be the best sounding...
Vifa city sounds good but the terrible battery life made it a bad speaker… to be a good overall sounding Bluetooth speaker you need to have a decent battery life. Plus it’s $150 on Amazon so what give? I thought apple was greedy didn’t know vifa was too
The first Anker Soundcore Mini sounds better than 2 and 3. And is under half the price of this. It might not sound just as good, but for under half the price. I think it's probably still better value!
I think that the updated is the one that wins it here . They sound both very pleasant but the 2 sounds like it packs more instruments in it , and it has more battery.
Not watching the vid just listening to the sound I did not hear a big difference, I have a 1. But it is not intended as a home speaker. It was intended for biking and outdoors generally where the sound difference is more academic. The sound characteristics of the 1 may sound a bit boxier but not under the crazy circumstances where I use it. I would be much more critical of one I wanted for indoor sedentary use. Nice that you go to this much trouble to enlighten us in general. Thank you.
I bought a Micro 1 and a Micro 2 this year but sadly their ability to pair in party mode or TWS seems to be disabled. I'm thinking that Tribit did not intend for them to pair and that they have "corrected" that in firmware updates. I'm pretty sure I did all I could multiple times over to get them to pair one way or the other the best I could get was a connection sound followed by a disconnection sound (suggesting it was actually connecting to the other speaker but the firmware was instructed to disconnect the different hardware).
Correct. They don't pair any more. Pairing was probably a bug because from the manual, you have to have 2 stormbox micro 2 or 2 micro 1 to realise the stereo mode.
@@alanrossreviews got it! 🤔That means you can tune the speaker base on the originalfreq response of the track and you get the perfect tune of the speaker? On the graph it shows almost similar, there are just difference in Lows department but mids and highs are mostly overlaying with the graph.

Great videos, just one question. Do you think a pair of Tribit Stormbox Micros (1 or 2) would be better than one Bose Soundlink Flex? I'm am looking for a compact travel speaker for travel. Sound quality is more important than volume.
Song at 26:10 shows how less detail / less highs helps make a squeeky song or person's voice, less irritating. Less fatiguing. My broken hearing makes treble sound like tinfoil. Which is why I prefer the warmer Micro 1 to the brighter Micro 2. However, I love that the Micro 2 uses white for the main buttons. I totally despise the all black look. I hope the high contrast white fonts will catch on. I'm not a thief in the night. I DO NOT need a stealth micro speaker.
Great job as always my friend!!!!!! You crack me up!!! When the two goes on sale I'm going to get it for my bike and for going on trips. Even though I love my motion boom you can't take it on vacation or on your bike lol
I have had two Tribit StormBox Micro for three years and I have finally decided to change them for this new version. At first I almost regret not noticing a substantial difference, but when I discovered its equalizer in the application... this is already another world. The most important and fundamental thing is its sound, and it has exactly what the previous one lacked: clean treble and sound clarity. Apart from: - 10W vs. 9 W (and it is quite noticeable, especially in TWS) - 12 hours of use on a full charge vs. 8 -Bluetooth 5.3 vs. Bluetooth 5.0 - Powerbank to charge other devices. - The App! fundamental to change its default sound since the equalization that is done to it (there are several predefined and also configurable) is saved in the speaker. Simply for this, the upgrade is worth it. - Fantastic and very easy configuration for TWS, nothing to do with the previous model. Best regards, my friend 🙂
How is it sound compared to Anker Soundcore mini 3 pro after EQ? Im looking for something portable that could be fasten to belt / bag etc Love your reviews !
I have the Bose Soundlink Micro, JBL Clip 4 and now just got in today from Amazon the Tribit Stormbox Micro 1, should I return it for the 2? Probably not I’ll give it to my little brother and I’ll order the 2 next week or so, with spring coming here in the states and jumping back on the long bike rides I think I need the brighter sound since riding a bike in NYC next to cars and busy roads the brighter sound will definitely help.
Pairing the old speaker with the new one. Now that sounds like a major major go. If you got the old bugger then why not get the new one. Thanks again for breaking down the infor wars down on the Bluetooth speaker game. That's an Alan Ross review for ya
Stormbox Micro 2 sounds decent but it's a drop in sound quality next to the Maxsound Plus. I recently purchased both. I'd recommend it only if you must have something to carry around in your pocket. I quickly gave up on the glitchy app, just EQ it with Jet Audio.
Size will nearly always have the advantage when priced about the same. Youd have to move up to say the b&o a1 to get similar quality in a small package.
@@alanrossreviews 430 clams on Amazon Canada, 236 squid on UK. I know B&O make good speakers, I have Beoplay S3 and they are very detailed speakers. But couldn't see shelling out big bucks for a little speaker like that, and wouldn't fit in my pocket anyway.
@@alanrossreviews I love your reviews because you are honest about what you hear. I love speakers. I have the Harmon Kardon 4, 5 and the Go Play, I have a Sony GTK 5, I have a Braven XL, I have an Urbanears Rails, and I have a Tronsmart T6Max. I don't believe one speaker is better than the other just different sound signatures. Harmon Kardon is my favorite sound signature. I hope you get the Stormbox Blast and the Tronsmart Bang. I can't buy them all but I love watching reviews. I love your humor, I love that you detail all the specifications and how you have an open mind about speakers. Like there's this reviewer, he ALWAYS pick JBL over every speaker he reviews. Keep doing what you do and be honest with no bias.
Would be cool if you did a comparison with the first Anker Soundcore Mini, which I have. :D It's under half the price of this one. EDIT: Well. It used to be half the price. Right now it's not? Weird how an old product rises in price.
i just bought the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 , i can tell you this is the most powerful SPL and bass you can have for a speaker that can fit in your pocket !
what You like more Tribit micro 2 or Jbl Clip 4 ? I own clip4 and think if buying Tribit2 insteadof Clip is reasonable.... Maybe You could make biger comparission of 4-5 small portable speaker, which have best sound in 2022.
M1 is more V shape. M2 is warmer mids. I agree with you, it depends on personal taste. I have 2 M1 in stereo. That said, in louder volumes, the M2 trounces it due to better headroom.
How do you make the frequency measurements, do you measure the noise of the speaker playing some frequency, or do you measure the frequency itself? I notice on my stormbox micro, at 70% volume in between 60 to 100 herts is pushing almost max power at those frequencys, about 1 decible lower than max volume
Also notice that the difference is smaller in the micro 2, maybe micro 2 does not make a lot of other noises when playing bass notes. My micro 1 makes weird noise when playing 50herts max volume
I like the original Micro a lot. It's a fantastic "throw it in the bag and go" speaker. However, I never listen to it on-axis...so it sounds like the Micro 2 might be an even better-sounding option.
Nice video Alan! I discovered your videos some time ago, they are quite interesting, i really appreciate all the data. Do you think the Tribit Micro 2 sound better than the Soundcore Mini 3, both using the app?
@@alanrossreviews hello Alan, im sure I did everything I could in the right way but it didn’t work, also I noticed the sound quality (the clarity) was muffled when compared to my original stormbox micro so there wasn’t much treble but my old one was doing well. After all this it’s making me think I got a defective unit but I’m not so sure.
I can’t seem to get v1 and v2 to pair correctly. They would pair but one speaker would b on stereo mode, v2, while the other would b on party. Then I would press the Bluetooth button on either speaker to see if I can rectify but then v1 would power down immediately.
that app is hardly even beta!!!!!! sometimes you have to close the app down and restart. also i think you have to be in pairing mode first time you connect but dont quote me on that.
Hello Alan. Thabks for the videos. Need your opinion. The price in my country for soundcore boost is $110, stormbox micro 1 is $62, maxsound plus $80. I actually prefer boost because of its sound signature, but the price doesnt make sense here. If I have to choose between the other two, which one do you recommend? The purpose of usage is for travel. I have already motion boom, motion plus, flare 2 for any other usages. 50% of tbe decision are made after watching your channel.
So the micro 2 arrived in the mail today. I did a comparison with the micro 1 and I have to say that initial I preferred the sound of 1 a smidge more. Warmer. That is until I took them outside. Then I preferred 2. The brighter sound signature and extra volume helps to compete with traffic noise.
Nice review, imo the new stormbox micro 2 is an upgrade, bigger bass(meaning deeper) and less on the upper region i'd say, treble extesion is smh similar to a jbl xtreme 3, not on power ofc but the sound, like a mix of a shouty and metalic tendency? Its what i'd say so. But for the size its about sequeezing the most out of sound, without making it too much of a mess i think in order to help to squeeze the power with loudness and bass its a nice aproach this tuning. This is a theory of mine tho so i might be i wrong xd.
@@alanrossreviews yeah, mb a bit less for audiofiles, although treble from 1st version is Not that great too, but majority will prefer, for this price its a king in this class.
Can you compare the sound quality of the stormbox micro 2 with the sound quality of the jbl flip 6? And can you also compare both the tribit stormbox micro 1 and 2 in party or stereo mode with the flip 6.
@@alanrossreviews yea the website said the storm box 1 and 2 can’t be used together for stereo or party mode, you have to use 2 or the same gen speakers. But when you tested it worked so I think what Tribit said is wrong.
@@soumenchakraborty2450 so you are talking about the stormbox micro not the stormbox which is a different speaker. So yes as you saw micro 1 and micro 2 can be paired in tws.
Hey Alan. Thanks again for the video. I do think the micro 2 with the new firmware and the help of the EQ, it would sound better than the Bose micro, but still can’t bit the minirig mini2 specially for the loudness.

Tribit sais in thei site that you can't pair the two. I don't what happen but it seems the newer versions o the micro 2 got rid of the that funcionality. Don't know why. Probably because the older version doesn't have firmware update and it would be difficult to keep the funcionalty

You cant get one now?
is micro 2 comparable to xsound go or at least its tuning?
i never heard the upgraded xsound go. from memory not really comparable.
Is the Micro 2 comparable to the Soundcore 3 or SoundcoreBoost?
its good but it cant match the bass of the boost
How is it sound compared to Anker Soundcore mini 3 pro after EQ?
Im looking for something portable that could be fasten to belt / bag etc
Love your reviews !
micro 2 is better
I'd love to find eq settings I can use in poweramp without downloading the app, which would be a problem for a reason or two.
I have the Bose Soundlink Micro, JBL Clip 4 and now just got in today from Amazon the Tribit Stormbox Micro 1, should I return it for the 2? Probably not I’ll give it to my little brother and I’ll order the 2 next week or so, with spring coming here in the states and jumping back on the long bike rides I think I need the brighter sound since riding a bike in NYC next to cars and busy roads the brighter sound will definitely help.
there is a firmware update coming that will beef up the bass a bit
Its better to my tatse! But i have a feeling you got the boombox 2 arriving in your mailbox...🤪
yeah but the neighbours have hidden it 🤭
Stereo is amazing on these. Much more fun than headphones 🎧
what's with the elephant??
remind me..what elephant?? 🤷♂🤷♂
Can you do a video where you test out the EQ?
i bricked my micro 2
Since you can connect both micros for TWS can you do a comparison with the Soundlink Flex?
I bricked my micro 2 during firmware update 🤣
WTF!
Maybe you should post something in the community warning folks of this issue
🤷♂️ i cant say its an issue, but maybe the the crap media tool we have to use
Were you able to un-brick?
Buenas comparativa como siempre! 👏🏻 sería bueno un video del bose micro vs tribit micro 2 👍🏻
por el camino....
Tribit will destroy bose …
Pairing the old speaker with the new one. Now that sounds like a major major go. If you got the old bugger then why not get the new one. Thanks again for breaking down the infor wars down on the Bluetooth speaker game. That's an Alan Ross review for ya
well i try my best 🤗🤗 nice to be appreciated 💪
Are you the guy named Flossy Carter?
So the micro 2 is the pocket speaker with the deepest Bass ever, and In my opinion with the most satisfying sound, with the help of the Equalizer.
not sure about the deepest ever. lets see it against the bose, but maybe you are right 👌
Did tribit made an app where you can use the eq? lol I’m using it and I turn the bass all the way up.
Hey Alan being this video you didn't EQ it would you make another video using the EQ comparing it to another speaker with EQ like the soundcore mini 3
Sure given time. I wanted to eq the mega first but cant get it to connect to the app.
@@alanrossreviews oh okay okay sounds good looking foward to it alan!!
@@alanrossreviews F the Mega!
We want the Micro 2 EQed
2 sounds slightly more crisp and appealing for my ear
more crisp for sure
Are you going to get the Tribit Stormbox Blast? It seems similar to the Motion Boom and the Wildbox.
if they send me one...
Thanks for that. Tribit did say they would send me one but its still being finalised
I've got the Micro 1, usually use them in stereo mode.
How would mix and match Micro 1 and 2 affect the listening experience?
well of course different tuning and volume scale so not perfect but still nice
Mr Ross according to your reviews, last micro you like the most was Soundcore Mini 3. How about a review between Mini 3 and Stormbox micro 2??
i would need to compare them side by side. watch this space.
Would be cool if you did a comparison with the first Anker Soundcore Mini, which I have. :D It's under half the price of this one. EDIT: Well. It used to be half the price. Right now it's not? Weird how an old product rises in price.
there are so many videos i would like to do, sadly just not possible.
@@alanrossreviews Totally fine. :D Also an old product.
i just bought the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 , i can tell you this is the most powerful SPL and bass you can have for a speaker that can fit in your pocket !
👍
what You like more Tribit micro 2 or Jbl Clip 4 ?
I own clip4 and think if buying Tribit2 insteadof Clip is reasonable....
Maybe You could make biger comparission of 4-5 small portable speaker, which have best sound in 2022.
well i dont own a clip 4..... problem number one... 🤪
Sine wave sweep
I like the original Micro a lot. It's a fantastic "throw it in the bag and go" speaker. However, I never listen to it on-axis...so it sounds like the Micro 2 might be an even better-sounding option.
then yes for sure.
Nice video Alan!
I discovered your videos some time ago, they are quite interesting, i really appreciate all the data.
Do you think the Tribit Micro 2 sound better than the Soundcore Mini 3, both using the app?
i bricked my micro 2 during a firmware update so sadly cant compare now
@@alanrossreviews
Sorry for that,
Hope you find a solution and we have more comparisons 😝😝
I think i will go for the micro 2,
Thanks Alan!
can the tribit app still be used when it is paired with the micro 1
im not sure, havent used it in a while, im also told firmware updates have made the 1 and 2 incompatible
Hi Alan I bought the storm box micro 2 but it’s not pairing with my original storm box, need a little help.
You have to do it in the right order. I explained in the video
Then I would press the Bluetooth button on either speaker to see if I can rectify but then v1 would power down immediately.
thats a bit shitty, i have no issues with mine. maybe this is why they dont advertise v2 and v1 as being compatible?? a bit hit and miss???
Also, the Tribit app isn’t picking up my micro 2 😕
that app is hardly even beta!!!!!! sometimes you have to close the app down and restart. also i think you have to be in pairing mode first time you connect but dont quote me on that.
50% of tbe decision are made after watching your channel.
the maxsound plus for sure! the bogasing m4 can you give you decent bass if you can get a decent price on it.
@@alanrossreviews thanks Alan. I will consider it
So the micro 2 arrived in the mail today. I did a comparison with the micro 1 and I have to say that initial I preferred the sound of 1 a smidge more. Warmer. That is until I took them outside. Then I preferred 2. The brighter sound signature and extra volume helps to compete with traffic noise.
do you listen on or off axis? its going to be a matter of taste and they sound so different. but you do have that ability to go louder 👍
I always listen on axis.
Should I even make an attempt to fuss with the eq?
Nice review, imo the new stormbox micro 2 is an upgrade, bigger bass(meaning deeper) and less on the upper region i'd say, treble extesion is smh similar to a jbl xtreme 3, not on power ofc but the sound, like a mix of a shouty and metalic tendency? Its what i'd say so. But for the size its about sequeezing the most out of sound, without making it too much of a mess i think in order to help to squeeze the power with loudness and bass its a nice aproach this tuning. This is a theory of mine tho so i might be i wrong xd.
I think people will be happy with the better batter and brighter sound
@@alanrossreviews yeah, mb a bit less for audiofiles, although treble from 1st version is Not that great too, but majority will prefer, for this price its a king in this class.
I have a question can any song be equalize that want to play or you have to download songs in order equalize songs on charger 5 JBL
any song will have the eq you set in the app
@@alanrossreviews thank you for the info my first time have a JBL CHANGER 5
Can you compare the sound quality of the stormbox micro 2 with the sound quality of the jbl flip 6? And can you also compare both the tribit stormbox micro 1 and 2 in party or stereo mode with the flip 6.
my micro 2 is dead after firmware upgrade....
@Alan Ross Reviews so it just stopped working for you altogether ?
If so then this is very bad news for tribit. I hope that they get their software working for us customers.
no it failed half way through the firmware update.
I’m late... yes sirr Alan 🏆
late but always welcome! im sure you have a good excuse 😛
@@alanrossreviews hope you’re doing great🙏
well im doing ok 👍
Is jbl go 3 worth upgrading to strombox micro 2?
Yes in my opinion
what's the firmware on your tribit micro 2? mine stuck on 0.2.3.
@@drcover its at the top of the sound clips
@@alanrossreviews Thank you, do you know how to update to version 1.1.3 or newer?
you have to ask tribit
Can i use type c to aux to be wired mode, thanks
it can be done but whether it will work with the micro 2 and your device i dont know 🤷♂️
If you open the speaker cover, the sound will improve tremendously.
Does it pair with the original stormbox, the website says it can't but your videos shows you can, so I'm confused.
huh? i never paired them, why do you say my video shows they can be paired?
@@alanrossreviews I meant stereo or party mode stormbox 1 and 2
Their website says it can't pair but It actually does pair.
@@soumenchakraborty2450 stormbox 2?
Do you have one? I bricked my first one trying the update, i have another but bit reluctant to risk it again.
@@alanrossreviews I don’t have yet. I’m planning to buy two for stereo. It’s gonna be funny to have them on my Ebike handlebar. Two of them for sure sound fuller and funnier than one flip 6. Hopefully you can fix yours.
i always say you can also use the tribit as earings 😝 its like having headphones!
Hello Alan, I was wondering if you done an eq for the tribit stormbox 2? I always look forward to your eq settings.
i never bought that one
or do you mean the micro??? when i tried it wasnt worth the effort as you cant get more bass than the default
@@alanrossreviews yes the micro 2
Buen día soy de Colombia me ayudas a comprar el Dockin d fine plus por favor en mi país no es posible
i cant pair my micro 1 with the 2..... got any advice?
Tribit sais in thei site that you can't pair the two. I don't what happen but it seems the newer versions o the micro 2 got rid of the that funcionality. Don't know why. Probably because the older version doesn't have firmware update and it would be difficult to keep the funcionalty
Just saw a comment of a guy that has problems paring the two versions. It was 2 months after this vídeo. Check it out
I just got the V2 and same here, I can't get to pair them. Shame, apparently they removed that functionality in the newer fw update...sigh...
I would love to get that bad boy in my hands but I already have the glorious MaxSound Plus speaker which I really enjoy using!
very very different speakers with different usage scenarios.
@@alanrossreviews yep and the MaxSound Plus is a combination between small and big and that makes it a truly good choice for speaker even in 2022!
Even more so now they do tws
I just seen the stormbox micro 2 was on the Canadian Amazon app 😃 going to order one for now however I will eventually purchase a second stormbox 2 and have 4 in total (2 original 2 new)
so you are a Tribit fanboy 🥳🥳 its cheaper than being a jbl fanboy 👌
@@alanrossreviews True but honestly out of the tribit speakers my two favourites are the Maxsound plus & Stormbox Micro (especially if you have 2) plus my dad really liked the Maxsound plus that I got him for Christmas 2 years ago so I'm thinking about getting him the upgraded model for his birthday in august...tribit makes good affordable products as well as anker soundcore those two are my two favourite bluetooth speaker companies 😀 I most certainly can't wait to see your review of the new motion boom 👍👍

Was just about to purchase the Micro2 when I noticed Amazon is currently selling the Micro1 for 33% off @ $39.99. To me the Micro2 does sound better here, but I haven’t heard them in person for comparison. Do you think the sound profile and battery still make the Micro2 worth the extra price, considering this current Micro1 value proposition?
Also, does TWS require a Micro2?
Thanks for doing what you do! Hope to hear your thoughts on the atribuyó Stormbox Blast soon!
tws works with both 1 and 2. i prefer the micro 2 but its much brighter so be prepared for that.
