Just look at how big the PDC World Darts championship has gotten ever since Priestley won it 30 years ago in 1994, now 30 years later, all different types of darts players from all different countries are playing against the best players in the world. Just think, if the PDC wasn’t around, we wouldn’t even have televised darts like we have today! Circus Tavern & Alexandra are the home of world darts!!!

I think to be fair they were just supporting the Wright comeback as they wanted the match to continue and to see a classic. Wright was priced as big underdog going into that final, MVG had just beaten Adrian Lewis 6-0.

That was back in the days when the PDC (WDC as it was) had less prize money than the BDO, for its world championship anyway. It was also before Barry Hearn and Matchroom took over the running of the PDC, so things weren't as slick and professional as they would later become. But yes, what a difference especially when you then look at the first world championship at Ally Pally (2008 when John Part won). Bigger crowd, more of a stadium-type atmosphere. From then on, even a casual viewer who didn't know the respective strength of the fields at the Lakeside and Ally Pally would immediately tell from the PDC coverage that things were bigger and better there.

I mean, I looked it up now, at the upcoming PDC World Darts Championship, you get 15,000 GBP just for making it into Round 2. Round 3 gets 25,000 GBP, Round 4 gets 35,000 GBP, reaching the QF gets you 50,000 GBP, the semi finalists get 100,000 GBP each, getting into the final is rewarded with 200,000 GBP and the 2024 World Champion gets a cheque worth 500,000 GBP.

Living in China, staying up until 4/6am to watch the final is so damn easy when they throw as well as these guys! I can't bloody wait for this Friday! And since everyone is quite inconsistent at the moment, I think picking a winner is a hard task! I don't envy the bookies!

Taylor dominated in a time where it seemed like the competition in the PDC felt a little scarce and he took great advantage of it. Not to doubt his skill in any way. These days, the PDC competition is incredibly heated and there's so much more in the pool that it can be anyone's game, at any time. Which makes the back to back wins of Lewis and Anderson impressive in that sense that the competition around them was heating up. As to who will be crowned 2024 champion? It's anyone's guess, but I don't really see Michael Smith defending it very well after the year he's had this year since winning his first. It's either going to be MVG or Humphries who has been making quite a statement in the past few events.
