Just watched the video and i hate the fact that you need to pay for 2 dlc´s to get some cruciale units for the suebi (ariovistus in ceaser in gaul and wolf warriors from beast of war ´the most crappy dlc ever´) but i love the tactics that u used. you gave your reaction to my comment a few video´s back and you perfected my build. you are hands down the best total war commentator on youtube. just think about what would happen if he didn´t bring elefhants and you archers could have focused on his inf. with flaming shot or if fast charge didn´t wore of. 10 second mass route. thats why i love the suebi. scare galour!! don´t fight your oppont just scare the living crap out of them. my only change to this army would be 2 more berserkers for 2 less spear levy´s and 1 scoute rider. and then put my berserkers in the centre for there insane charge. because if the inf all route of the field in no time at all there cav can do little to effect my inf core. and using the spear levy/noble riders to bog down the cav/elefhants of the other player. I don't have wolf warriors but only one unit of berserks is enough to me (they still can make the difference ! and I noticed in many crushing victories that Ariovist skills are veeeery important to win). I do like this series of videos. Maybe call it The Smell of Fear series. /shrug. I tried this with Epirus the other day. Yes Epirus and the previous Eprius armies all got smashed to bits but a combination of cavalry, elephants, and flaming arrows actually did pretty well against Rome. It was one time though and maybe it was luck, but maybe take a look at using Epirus in this manner? Just an idea.

Thanks. I had seen many comments about it, and spent a week or two thinking it through. This was one strategy that I developed in that time. I won't be able to turn these episodes out daily, but I am sure I might be able to make something either weekly or every other week. Glad you enjoyed it.
Well.. the wolf warriors should have axes instead of clubs. This will make them more powerful but they kinda' need a boost since they are too weak without that fast charge and pride ability..
It's a 'Master Class' Heir... this one 'scare armies'.. the series could cover Special Abilities, counter tactics, tips for beginners, advanced tactics... also you could cover UI controls and tips.. I know you cover most of this sort of stuff in your day to day vids but it would be good to have a playlist for it. :-)
I have run into tho much more recently. Full stacks running away in fear... I decided to try, it works well. If you add an arty you will get the "damaged by artillery" buff as well. Sniping the gen will help also
seems like scare armies would be really bad in campaign battles, most of the enemy is able to retreat, unless you bring a ton of cav in your army too. BTW i timed a few things second phase of fast charge it is a full minute. headhunt lasts for thirty seconds. the first stage of headhunt last for six seconds, the second for ten and the third stage for more than fifteen seconds. and now after this video people will run away and wait for your abilities to go off. (I know I rant a bit.)
It would be interesting to try to counter such Suebi army. I think using Odrysian Kingdom to counter Suebi is feasible. I would use the very cost-effective faxman to absorb the charge - being spread out. I would use two units of them. To counter Suebi, one needs to separate his armies into a few 'lines'. Reserving one for absorbing the charge, while repositioning others to avoid the Suebi charge. Then, send in the first wave of counter-charge.
I have a strategy for the Sparta. It's not very tricky or anything very creative but work extremely well, especially against sword heavy factions like Rome: Build: 1 heroes of Sparta as general 7 spartan hoplites 6 citizen cav (3 with 1 upgrade) 4 elite missile troops (Cretan or Rhodian) Alternative: exchange elite missile troops for: 6 helot javelin, 1 more spartan hoplite, only 5 citizen cav left but with 3 upgrade Strategy: 1. line up hoplites and I must put them in the phalanx to hold the enemy. 2. Missle troop behind will help them out a bit. 3. since I have 6 cav, I will send 2 or 3 of them to hold the enemy cav while the rest sneak around and back stab the enemy infantry. I also have a lot of hoplite so I may use one to help out the cav fight or I could use my gen to do so. If there are any near by free unit, I will use them and begin flanking 4. I don't use pike because the enemy will just go around and make my flanks even harder to hold. I think what would be quite cool to see is a Unit focus, like how to use cavalry with non-steppe factions, like when you used tarantine cav with Sparta. Another thing would be guerilla units and how best to use them so they don't just get stranded on their own. The main success I've had with them has been in 2 vs 2s spamming guerilla swordsmen with one faction and Gallic Hunters with Arverni and deploying behind/to the side to overwhelm them unsuspectingly
Heir, could you do an Heirs' Total Tactics on on pike units? Since they were nerfed and are difficult to use properly without being flanked or javelined to death, are there any tactics that work well with them? I like playing as Macedon but find it annoying that pike units are so difficult to use. The same thing with shock cavalry, but thats an additional question.
Which game do you prefer, Rome II or Shogun II? I think Rome's been out long enough for people to make a decision. Remember to factor in campaign, multiplayer, units, balance, bugs, etc.

Ok so if I would want to use a this scare army I would need to have the julius ceasar in gaul DLC and the beast of war DLC. Meaning that if I have the vanilla pack I do not actually have what it takes to use suebi properly. That sucks!
I got curious with something about the number of man in each unit. I notice that, in my game i can't have as many as you have, for example, wolf warriors has 120 each slot and berserk only 60, in this video it appears 180 and 80, respectively. Does anyone know the reasons why is this happening?

Do another Suebi vid, they added new units like round shields and spear wall and im not sure if they're better than their slightly cheaper counter parts (Spear Brothers and BloodSworn)
Honestly, this army can be beat by factions with cheap spears and durable infantry. Soak up the charge with a hoplites unit, let's say, and then move in with your infantry after the bonuses are up. Carthage can trash this setup if you do it right
it would be great if you continue with this kind of videos to show others factions like Athens, kinda a "how to" videos maybe it would help others to have gerat battles and bla bla, anyway thanks for the video
This strategy looked like in a movie , I thought the Suebi were worthless because you have many losses in every battle but this way to use them is so cool I might even start a Suebi campaign again ^^

The first 15 seconds of 'fast charge' would help when ambushing or just attacking out of the forest.. off setting the 70% speed penalty...

Could you do a video on the best way to use Guerrilla troops, as I haven't seen anyone use them particularly well
this can be most historically accurate since gauls relied on their charge to win the day and extended fighting worked against them

How would be the best way to incorporate night hunters into a build like this.
I have a strategy for the Sparta. It's not very tricky or anything very creative but work extremely well, especially against sword heavy factions like Rome:

(Thracian Nobles, Indian Armoured Elephants, etc.)
Baal have mercy on any army facing Thracian nobles with fast charge and pride lol :) That would get ugly.
Yes, those combined with Frenzy and Headhunt give them 96 Melee Attack, 79 Weapon Damage and 119 Charge Bonus.

Your troop settings are probably on low or normal
its a game setting, less men in each unit means better performance, or if you have a beast PC you can jack it up higher
So this does not affect the length of two both full unit confront?
