It’s true...no one can tell him anything. He’s ultra sensitive. Floyd Mayweather simply said he needs to work on his jab and a few other things and he got all sensitive and called Floyd a hater. I think Floyd knows a thing or two about boxing.

@@jabril440 marlon starling, Aaron Davis, and Mauro Martelli are nobody’s? Gtfoh. You can’t name a single credible fighter that wilder has beat outside of an ancient Luis ortiz. Let’s just talk common sense. Breland is a far superior fighter and boxer with a much deeper set of tools and skills than wilder has ever showcased whatsoever. You could say neither him nor Jay brought up any reputable fighters but Jay was never even a fighter period which counts for FAR more than any armchair analysis could offer. And I know breland can teach skills because his nephew trains at Gleasons and is an active amateur fighter who funnily enough has a lot more ring savvy and fundamental understanding than wilder. This is very one sided because when wilder faced the first real fighter in Tyson fury he got outboxed the first time and then got bullied and battered the second time. Wilder is one of the best pure punchers I've seen in a long time but that raw knockout power seems to have prevented him from becoming a boxing legend. I still love watching his KO highlights and it is amazing to watch someone with so much natural talent.
That said, well trained fighters seem very capable of game-planning for his approach. I don't even like Tyson Fury but he did a good job closing the distance and preventing Wilder from being able to coil his right and unload it in space. He kept hand-checking him and obstructing his attempts to line up a power shot. Deontay doesn't seem to have any interest in throwing combos either. Just very basic 1,2's that rely on his jab creating a little distance and eventually landing a monster overhand right.
If I'm being perfectly honest, I do think Fury has had some weird issues with his gloves in the past and some of the stills from the fight do seem a bit hinky but I still think Wilder lost that fight due to poor preparation, not rigged gloves.

  • @emphyrean

I’m sure no one is surprised by this. I commented on IG that I remember when Wilder had a solid, hard, fast jab and he eventually abandoned it. I gave Wilder credit for beating a technician like Ortiz. But after reading this, it seems he may have been lucky Ortiz got old in the ring when they fought. I’ve seen training clips of Wilder training with Jay and I simply shook my head. Wilder himself said he doesn’t need to do road work because he plays basketball and has natural stamina. Even heard him say he doesn’t study tape because he likes to figure fighters out in the ring. Breland is a classy guy. I don’t believe Wilder will rebound from this. To be honest, I didn’t believe he’d rebound from the Fury fight.

Deontay reminds a lot of Mike Tyson in his golden years. Don King had convinced Tyson he was so invincible that he didn't need trainers. All he needed was a few gofers to wrap his hands and lace his gloves and carry his water bottle. No one in the Tyson camp would dare critique or assess his work. They all just walked around him on egg shells, knowing one wrong word or move would get them instantly fired. Then Tyson gets knocked the fukk out by unknown, unranked, journeymen Buster Douglass in a fight held in Japan. Next thing you know Tyson's career and life just take a nosedive. It was a complete and utterly tragic collapse and no one could ever put humpty dumpty together again. Wilder seems headed for the same kind of total collapse. But at least Tyson built up a legacy and was a brilliantly trained and skilled fighter before he left the D'Amato/Atlas camp. The same can never be said of Wilder. He's always been a one armed fighter, a right hand is all he's ever had. He got as far as he did because the heavyweight division is mostly trash, just brutes trying to bludgeon each other into submission with little skill and technique. The problem with guys like Tyson and Wilder is that they're big on ego and small on intellect. Fragile children really. Without guidance from an adult in the room, that's a recipe for disaster.

True, I was just mentioning earlier today that the 90s era of boxing weight classes especially HW where on a completely different level..relentless, skillfull, and elite work ethic...Lewis, the klitchkos, Tyson, Bowe,holyfield..shit even Morrison or fighters like Bird would of looked great against these new era of HWs right now..anyhow..I completely agree

Breland speech is like most boxers that have retired, brutal sport. He definitely was looking out for Wilders health!

Deontay and his people have been fighting 400 years TO THIS DAY but first loss he gets he throws his distinguished black trainer under the bus. Siding with the white man who would rather he went out on his shield than be saved.
    Madness

When your trainer sees blood coming out of your ears, your legs are gone, and your eyes have that look, he did what needed to be done. He protected and possibly saved his life!
