The Israel Trail Angles | Episode 1 - John and Judy, Eilat

John and Judy Pex, from Holland and the United States, opened the Shelter Hostel in 1984 after having both traveled extensively. John sailed around the world in the Dutch Merchant Marines before picking up his backpack and embracing the hippie lifestyle. Judy lived three years in Alaska in an Eskimo village before taking off on a solo hitchhiking trip throughout Europe. Twelve years ago, they walked the Israel trail and stayed with good people along the way - that’s what made them decide, alongside their many other social activities and volunteering - become Trail Angels.

We went on a journey - from Eilat to Dan, to meet the people who open their homes and hearts to 'Shvilistim' - hikers of the Israel National Trail. They'll always be there for you, feed you, give you water, a hot shower and host you in their homes - free of charge.
That's exactly why they are called - The Israel Trail Angels. We begin our journey at the southernmost point of the Israel trail - Eilat.
