So great for people wanting to experiment or get more into the hobby. Affordable, easy to reassemble, lots of layout options- hope they keep making these!
I think the bottom row empty sound can be improved by adding different components like O-ring + Gasket strip, also their discord seems to mention that the strange sound of the O-ring is due to the sample PCB too close to the ball-catch system , which has actually been fixed in their final mass product. But there are always good and bad rankings for offering so much choice, it all depends on personal preference, and it's exciting that keyboards like this to offer more options for people who are new to the hobby. Thanks to the great review again Alex!
Considering that we were looking at the Tiger80 Lite last year and now this is only a bit more without accounting for inflation. I'm a huge fan of the ball-catch quick release since having it in the Jris75. Rebuilding is so much easier.
A little late to the party but I just wanted to say that the article you wrote about this keyboard is gorgeous. It's simple, elegant, and to the point. I love it.
Are you sure the copper weight has a coating? I was under the impression that it didn't. I also plan to patina mine, but I don't know how I'd strip the coating if it is indeed coated :(
They state it does have a light coating but warn against touch it too often in my notes. I have had my hands all over the weight all week and spot no signs of obvious patina like i would have had from regular non coated weights.
Yes please more magnetic connectors please! The biggest reason why I didn't get this was due to the rotated switch positions on the hotswap PCB. I could learn to solder, but then I don't feel I want this that badly.
As someone who just learned soldering, it's really not that bad. Get a Pine64 Pinecil soldering iron, and you can do soldering with just a usb-c cable. The higher power your charging brick, the higher your possible soldering temperature.
@@gudboic1208 If you do not need the F keys, then is it perfect. not cumbersome at all. maybe 2 inches wider than a neo65. Before the 70, I have over used 60/65's and this sizing does not bother me at all.
I was so close to pulling the trigger but something about the top-down design of the Neo80 is off to me and I'm not sure what it is. Perhaps it's the symmetry?
Already ordered a JRIS80... Now I want a neo80... Is there any point in getting another TKL? (I like the JRIS80 aesthetics) (If I do get a neo80.. I think I'll try solder for the first time and go plateless..)
I chose neo80 because I wanted raw finish. both options are good b ut if not getting raw I think the cycle 8 is a better buy. my buddy bought cycle 8 at same time as I bought Neo 80 so we will see in person lol
I'm about to buy to buy my first custom keyboard and this seems like a really cool option! Love the price point and design. I'm a mac user so I was wondering if this is easily compatible with mac?
I really wish this one had an attractive design. The side profile is really awful to me especially for a Neo keyboard when the Neo70 and Neo65 looked fine.
neo70 and neo65 are also not looking that good to be fair... it's just "safe" design (but the thin bezel is nice tho). I mean, it's very affordable considering things they delivered in these
Last I read they still haven't shipped most of the cycle7 orders, not a great look. Also if it's anything like the cycle7 I don't think they shpport VIA/QMK on the trimode PCB like Neo boards which is a complete failure IMO. Personally don't see the interest in the cycle boards when the Neo and QK boards exist and you can get them ordered and shipped to you in 4 weeks or less.
cycle8....hands down lol. between both, idk man, qk80 looks much better, tkl tends to be boring, but neo80 is looks even more plain, not bad but to me just a decent looking. But the price and innovations is slaps, so you'd never go wrong going to Neo. If F-row is not a priority, I much prefered neo70
o-ring mount only bad on Neo...I loves o-ring mount boards for years. I mean, look at those high ends, unikorn, tgr 910, tomo, jane, and lots of others offers o-ring mount or top mount. Neo just can't get it right yet
@@bosenngantor9160 it might be good on those boards but I would bet that top mount or bean gaskets are better than the 0-ring if those boards support it

I had a lot of fun building my Neo70. The magnetic connectors are amazing. So easy to change things around.

Ball catch quick release, 4 mounting styles, magnetic daughterboard. This is a dream keyboard for me as far as functionality

I love it.
Thank you SO much that means a lot
What a great board!!! Easy to reassemble and have a lot of option to config.
The mixed colored switches looks cursed. Vibing with it.
Ordered mine a week ago, got me a champagne one with a stone washed silver weight. Deciding between u4t's or blue bubblegums
Are you sure the copper weight has a coating? I was under the impression that it didn't. I also plan to patina mine, but I don't know how I'd strip the coating if it is indeed coated :(
I don’t think it does since it warns of oxidization but don’t take my word for it

I have the Neo70 it is really nice. I am enjoying it so far
How is the layout functionally? I love how it looks but it seems cumbersome size wise

wdym by "top-down design?" Is it the side profile, the bezels, the two-piece case, or something else?
how does this compare with the tiger80 variants
I think I saw something about the freya 65 having the pogo connector
How does this board fair against the TGR Jane v2 ME ? Aside from the price..
@alexotos how did you get rid of the spacebar issue?

is there an option for screw in stabs? couldnt find any info about that
Sounds kind of hollow? I mean it has a full sound but still some weird resonance
Can someone tell me what the keyboard appear in the beginning is?
whats that keyboard at the start? the one u moved away
so i cant use a 6.25u spacebar if i ordered the WKL one?
Question! What container do you use for your keycap storage @alexotos? I want some uniform storage for my extra sets and the caps i don't use.
Sadly the ones I WAS using seem to not be sold anymore but they have the larger and smaller ones, its from a brand called IRIS.
those switch and keycaps is sick.
Hey Alex! Do you prefer the Neo80 or the Mode Loop overall more? Thanks!!
Obviously very different price points, but I’m curious on your thoughts between them.
@alexotos Hi If you had to choose between the neo80 and the cycle8, which one would you choose?

Where can we find this keyboard in stock xaxaxaxa
my spacebar has the same problem as yours, in my neo65
And now we need to see how cycle8 works guys
it sounds thinner than the Neo from what I've seen but they might just be bad configs
Can’t decide between alu and cf for the life of me
I hate how good these boards are getting, im running out of room for them
What are "the alphas"? thanks
Keys for alphabets. For example, abcdeghg…. The modifiers are control, shift, enter, etc…

I believe all of this is in stock!

I'll just wait for the Cycle8 which looks much better imo.
What’s the price of cycle8?
Cycle 7 started at 139 dollars, so cycle 8 could start around that.

this Neo80 is very easy falling the bottom down when you pick the top, not good for a heavy board TKL. 65 is fine
These switches are slappin ngl
Never heard of Design Studio switches until this review. Had to get myself a pack
