I'm a bulgarian, living in Plovdiv for about 8 yrs now, I also really appreciate the city, but when I see such reviews from foreigners, you make me realize how great are some things here, that we are getting used to. After I watch such videos I appreciate much more our country!
OMG! Those native big pink tomatoes with Bulgarian yoghart cheese & their breakfast look so appetizing & healthy! Bulgarian seemed to be rich in Roman Empire history alright & the lack of crowds every where give us in a strange movie vibe! Thank You So Much & stay safe , healthy & be vigilant Chase & Shelbs! 🌷🌿
Yes, that is correct, but you have to be careful when buying tomatoes (even pink tomatoes), because many of them are imported and have a nice look but a plastic artificial taste. I mean, they are tasteless. The best way is to pick garden tomatoes, preferably from a village.
Balkans in general have always been the gem of every Empire and the cradle of European culture. The first ever European Empire, the Odrysian one was located here. (And just for the sake of my own ego let me addon that if we judge by genetic studies and history books we are their descendants. 😂😂😂) Bulgarian and Serbian lands is where the Vinca script - the first alphabet of the Romans (Etruscans) come from. Later we have the Linear A and Linear B in today's Greek islands, N. Greece, S.Bulgaria and N.Macedinia from where the Cyrillic(created in Preslav, Bulgaria), Glagolitic and Hellenic/Greek alphabets originate. We have Urfil and his script (Latin) developed in Dobrugae again near the city of Preslav... The Macedonian Empire leader Phillip finds today's Plovdiv so important and owns it with such pride that he names it after himself - Phillipopolis. Later, so you can understand to what altitude the Balkans were important and rich during Roman times is to remind yourself the dominance of the 15+ Roman Emperors of Thracian/Iliryan origin from the Balkans. One of the top 5 Roman Emperors, Constantine, finds Sofia as one of the most important cities and his most favorite and makes it his home and second capital of the Empire. To understand the military dominance of the Balkan people over the Roman Empire you have to remind yourself that Thracians are stationed in today's Egypt, in Algiers, even in Brittain. I can the go for hours about the Medieval times, the Ottoman times, the World wars and Hitler, the USSR, the EU and NATO, and it will always be the same... Every Empire starts and ends with the Balkans. If one Empire/regime does not keep the Balkans happy and content they have no future and will see it's end.
I would add to this information, that Plovdiv is actually the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, after Damascus in Syria (if I am not mistaken)! Damascus I think is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, without interruptions, despite the civil war there. Many other cities are older, but with long gaps in time when they were deserted.

I really enjoy seeing my city and country in general from the pov of different foreigners on yt and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. The Milyo statue you whispered to is also at the start of the roman stadium and there are representations of the entry columns on the pavement and it stretches all the way to the open part you went down to and it is going all the way below the main street. The place with graffiti is called Kapana (the trap), as you can get lost around the many small streets, it has a lot of bars and restaurants with generally good, but in the past few years overpriced food, but it does have a nice vibe all year long. In case you visit again I would recommend that you climb at least one of the tepes for a great areal view of the city, my fave is the youth hill. Definitely walk more around the old town and visit a few of the revival homes. The rowing canal is also a great place to hang out, run or bike around with a lot of greenery everywhere. I liked that unlike many previous videos I've seen you at least did some research on the places you went to and I am just adding a bit more context for anyone interested.

To good to be true !
IT'S ALL TRUE. I AM BULGARIAN AND WAS BORN AND RAISED IN THIS CITY. PLOVDIV IS AN AMAZING CITY, LIKE ALL POPULATED PLACES IN BULGARIA ARE BEAUTIFUL, CLEAN AND MODERN. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, BULGARIA IS ONE OF THE SAFEST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD. PEACE, PEACE AND FREEDOM REIGN HERE, ACTIVE CULTURAL LIFE. SAD THAT WESTERN PROPAGANDA IS TRYING TO REPRESENT MY BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY AS POOR AND BACKWARD
@@snezhastefanova9733 Снежана, Свилен е българин и със коментара си просто се прави на интересен...
А ти българин ли си или български циганин, че се опитваш да правиш антиреклама, или си просто нещастен изрод, още не ефтаназиран??
@@snezhastefanova9733 Before you rant about "Western propaganda", maybe take a moment to see that the person you replied to is also Bulgarian.
Аха! Магарока!!
Розовите домати са много вкусни! За това Гейропа иска да ги забрани!!!
