    Cool video! I own one of these and beside the obvious primary use for 16:9 480p games on PS2/NGC/Wii I absolutely love the PS3/X360 720p games on this monitor as they're so sharp with native display

      That's really cool. Is there any practical reason why it would be used in the production of a modern film like that? If it ain't broke don't fix it? Surely the cutting edge LCDs for video production are vastly superior.

      @@nuvotion-liveI don’t know, we’re they? Keep in mind it was still 2008-2009, with a possibility of being even earlier as a film like that with all the cgi was probably even harder to make back then…

    One very cool thing I saw somebody do on a D24 recently was playing TMNT: Shredders Revenge at its native 270p 60hz from a PC.
    Not a lot of CRTs can do 270p at 60hz. Plenty can do it at 55hz but that causes motion judder issues in the game

    When it comes to modern games, nothing beats a high-end PC CRT monitor, such as the Sony G520/C520/F520/E530 21" 4:3 monitors, or the Mitsubishi 2070SB/2060/LaCie Blue III or IV, the infamous Sony FW900, nothing can beat those when it comes to image quality, refresh rates, motion clarity, shadow detail, image depth and so on, modern PC games with a high/mid-range GPU paired with any of those monitors is just completely next level, Pyschonauts 2 @ 1920x1440 85Hz looks absolutely jaw dropping on my Sony E530, and even @ 85Hz it feels silky smooth, even 60Hz is smooth on a CRT, I can also play it @ 120Hz if I lower the resolution a little bit, FPS games @ 160Hz 1280x960p are incredible, every single frame is just perfectly clear and smooth, not even 175Hz QD-OLED come close, even 60Hz feels smoother than 175Hz on an OLED, don't get me wrong, the QD-OLED is nice, and it's a big improvement, but it will take 1000Hz+ to feel as good/smooth as a CRT monitor does, and you then need to have a GPU that can run the game you are playing @ 1000FPS, which will take a huge advancement in GPU power to pull off, the latest GPU's can barely manage 120FPS in the latest titles, perhaps true multicore GPU's will help with that, but realistically they are going to have to produce QD-OLED gaming monitors with proper native rolling-scan, that way they will be almost CRT level as far as motion performance even @ 60Hz, I canny wait for 240Hz QD-OLED with native rolling-scan, or even 480Hz, we will finally have superior display tech for modern gaming, especially when 8K QD-OLED is available, Imagine an 8K 480Hz 16:10 32" QD-OLED with rolling-scan, a full fat Nvidia G-Sync hardware module with the usual features as well as built in integer line multiplication for upscaling lower resolution content without too much reduction in quality (like the retrotink 5X does), built in ability to add CRT scanlines both vertical and horizontal for an authentic CRT look, maybe even the ability to add anti-aliasing on the fly like the Mclassic does, will be great for people who don't have access to a CRT any more, a gaming monitor that is incredible for modern games and also good enough for retro gaming, would be amazing to have something like this available to buy finally on the modern market.

    I was lucky enough to buy one for about 1500€ in 2018. Sadly, after barely using it since, I noticed this summer that it wouldn't boot anymore (the overload light turns on shortly after power on).
    I don't know of anyone in Belgium that can service these so I guess my only option would be to learn to recap and hope that it's just a fried capacitor on the flyback...

    Hello RGB Master! I have a bvm D24 and have mostly used it with 240p and 480p consoles. I'm thinking of buying a component hdmi adapter to play with xbox series and ps5. Do you recommend putting the adapter in 720p or 1080i?

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  2 роки тому

      I'd strongly recommend NOT getting an adapter that has a resolution switch, as they most likely include scaling circuits that add lag. Your best bet is to get one of the lagless HDMI to Component Video converters I link to in the Amazon shop, then manually setting your console to 720p: retrorgb.link/cheapdac

  • @TheRealGara

    Could you please expand on your thoughts about why you don't think anything should be stacked on top of BVM's and such? Is it a simple matter of various items not having the weight distribution of stacking monitors? Are there actual points on top that could damage something internal if too much weight is focused there?
    I have console up on top of mine and am wondering if I should rethink that. To be honest if I left them bare they would become cat beds.

    • @GoldenMean743

      It would be perfect if you can put it on its side. I think I saw some UA-camr who does that with CRTs and a Mister, I think. I can't remember who, though.

    • @pedroTFP
      @pedroTFP 2 роки тому +1

      I get that but I don’t know if I would. I fear yoko-tate-yoko… would damage a monitor in the long period. I ended up with 2 PVMs, one always TATE; it’s ok but it eats up a lot of extra space. ^^’

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  2 роки тому +1

      I used my 4:3 PVM in TATE mode all the time. I never had issues.
      I'm not sure I'd use a 16:9 one though, as these are so rare, I wouldn't want to risk slipping and dropping it or anything.
