This is by far the best and most stunning demonstration, why the JD-800 is a epic legend. Some patches open a whole new world. And your video is full of those patches.
360, Thank you so much for your feedback on this video! I worked very hard on those patches, and it is good to hear from someone 'in the know' concerning the JD-800. Thanks again for encouragement to press on!
Great demo, agree. This synth was on my wishlist for long time. I was looking for JD-990 rack version and now.... the good news is that Roland launched the Boutique series JD-08!
@@_oscillator Hey - nice to read you here. The world needs new Morpheus videos!!! When you can get hands on a "fixed red glue" JD-800 - get it ; even though some actual prices are really insane. I had the JD-990 also, but sold it years ago. The DAs on JD-800 have some own kind of punch for a digital synth. Mine will be sold maybe after my death.
@@DoktorPlaySame! Sold my JD-990 but kept JD-800 for this reason. I later read about it on some site, something along the lines of the DA’s only being 32khz, but there was more to it as well
This is really wonderful! I enjoy creating ambient soundscapes and I've always wanted a JD-800 but I've resisted the urge since I discovered about the red glue issue with the keybed. Hopefully I can find one someday upon which that issue has been addressed. Thank you for taking the time to share this work. Peace.
+Ted Stahl Good to see you outside FB. Thank you for the kind words, and you're welcome. The red glue job is easy now, and there are a few articles about it. No more crazy fixes for the problem, and you can do it yourself extremely easy. I too enjoy soundscapes, and the JD is for me the best tool for the job because of it's 4 independent sources. If you can get one at a fair rice, don't worry about the glue issue unless there has been some damage already. Peace.
+Ted Stahl , I forgot to respond a whole month ago to your request for a link about the JD800 red glue fix, so here is a link: jd800center.blogspot.com/2013/03/one-fix-for-red-glue-problem.html
Hello: Mr David, it has been a long journey, Thank you for your dedication and the "Pursuit of Happiness " in this case; for you: is no money, nor fame but the Passion For Synthesizers and the wonderful opportunity to explore and create sounds. As we live in this fast and short world of text and just "likes" i can only give you a like , but if i have you in front of me i will give you anything you want including the Pursuit of the Poly Brute. Please keep it up.
This one is, and seems always will be, my favorite of your improvisations. After that, it's 'Memories of Dune'. God willing, I will be blessed to be able to have some time on a JD-800 of my own some day before I depart from this world. That being said, I always imagine what kind of musical instruments there will be in the new heaven and new earth, when the physics of the universe without the decay of sin will be experienced in a way that 'no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined'.
Le Mystère, I have wondered the same thing. When this body of death is finally put off, and the world is changed, what will be our eternal employment? I hope there will be music, but seeing Christ will be all in all. Thank you for your kind words. In the mean time I will upload more improvisations; some practiced, and some just me having a good time on the instruments.
Had ones of these back in 92'. amazing synth and still is, though i'm probably gonna get the software version as i dont like the boutique version styling and the original is getting crazy on the used market in terms of price!
Awesome ! Thank you for this piece of music. Subscribed and liked. I would be also interested of having the link for the patch . My JD 800 will be happy too i think :) Thank you in advance

Haven't watched this vid for a while .... Forgot how stunning this compilation is. Never selling mine (or 990 module). Nice work, anymore in pipeline re: JD800 or infact other classics you use? Would love these patches too! 😎🎹 ps. Have you a link please for the patches download David? to theaudioeng@gmail.com , & thanks for a great composition showing of this great synth!
Thank you, Damond! The patches will not load into the JD-990 the same (I own a 990), but there is a conversion tool out there which converts 800 patches to 990. I have yet to use it however, but it was uploaded for the Don Solaris JD-800 fan site: www.donsolaris.com/?p=585 Let me know how it works, and again a big Thank You! ~DGH
@Juno303 Thank you very much. I used all VST effects I either created, or swapped in Native Instruments Reaktor. The reverb is something I put together and has been a main staple in the studio ever since.

I absolutely LOVE my JD 800!!! I was looking for a more vintage synth but found this one for a great price...
Yeah, I really enjoy 4 'oscillators' to play with rather than the two or three most synths give you. Good to get a great deal!
How much ?
Roland JD-800 truly a master's master synth. been using it during 90s era. miss the times and places by the sounds it creates..
wow, this video sold me this synth, never thought it can sound so good
It sounds very nice just playing with it. It's a good synth. Avoid the red glue! The Ox and the Rabbit are OK
@@DavidGHobson can u pls let me know what do you mean by "The Ox and the Rabbit are OK"? Sounds like a WWII code name or something :)))
