I am not a Jew, I was interested to know what Lag BaOmer would mean ... and I found this video: a wonderful story, presented in a fascinating and passionate way. Thank you very much for the teachings! I learned a new way of looking at each other. Muito obrigado!

Reinaldo, if you have further questions, then ask. We will celebrate the memorial day of the death of this great Rabbi, who was a great saint and national hero. The eyes of fire are when we judge others too harshly, and they learned that this was not the way that God wants us to behave. We must try to see the good in other people. "Good of eye, he will be blessed." Proverbs

You can only tolerate people you dont agree with . Tolerance doesn't mean accepting that everyone is right. You must not burn or kill people who dont agree with you but tell them the truth. Just hating people because they are following the wrong path or leaving them to perish in their wrong ways are both wrong. You must speak the truth to them in love

I think you are still missing the point. "Did you come out here to destroy My world?" They failed to see that the material world filled with plowing and sewing seeds was one created by Hashem. They failed to see merit in these pursuits. They showed a lack of respect for the greatness of these efforts. It was the same mistake of Rabbi Akivah's students who failed to respect one another. It is actually one lesson. The key is Zachor v' Shamor. Why the myrtle? He is holding two bundles of myrtle which possess smell but no taste. The man living in the material world is not learned but does good deeds, Shamor. Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai and his son have been living in a cave and have lost respect for the material world where we live out the commandments. Shomer. They only Zachor. Remember. We are called to seek out balance. L'havdil.

I think it’s very interesting but I think it would also be wise to explain the extent to which tolerance can be extended. Nowadays, people might interpret it for the wrong reasons.
Example: not sure that celebrating Shabbat by playing music, hence breaking one of the basic laws of Shabbat is aligned with the views of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai

It’s pretty clear he would not extend that tolerance to people who desecrate Shabbat, steal, lie, have forbidden relationships etc.

There is a black and white, good and bad. And G-d world fits into that. You are veering off to a liberal tolerant PC approach. G-d told Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai that his vision is not G-d's vision. That a Jew honoring Shabbat and plowing the land is within the vision of G-d. There are many things that are outside G-d's vision of goodness. Just study the Torah and you will find them. Don't try to make bad into good.

The rulings and teachings of the Rabbis (Judges of the last standing great court) are obligatory upon ALL JEWS. Following & believing the folklore and legends that Rabbis discussed in the Gemara is NOT! Yet unfortunately, many times Jews today teach them as if they are factual and not folklore. Maimonides, one of the greatest Sages in Judaism (Africa/Spain) warned Jews about this.
