If you cut the wires at different lengths it doesn't bulge so much and there's also less risk of short circuit :)
That is a great idea (i.e. not dodgy at all)! I'll try to remember that one.
Also it's bulging less if wires are twisted and soldered together one facing the other, not bending like here making wires twice as thick.
I do that sometimes.
Except it's slightly harder without soldering knowledge like me.
@@PCIeTeam All you need is soldering practice. So just try and improve.
From the simplest issues to the most advanced topics, you are great.
Without paying attention to how to execute, achieving the right goal is desired.👌👌👌
I worked as a technician in a pro audio workshop when I was young and I had to make literally thousands of XLR and Phone patchcables. And I always used my teeth to strip the small inner wires of the shielded Cables. After half a year I had a dentist appointment and he 'admired' a one and a half millimeter deep notch in one of my front teeth. After that I used my Jokari strippers all the time. Luckily the tooth enamel grew back and the notch disappeared after one year.
Haha that was a truly top notch method 😂
I had no idea your teeth would recover, that’s amazing
Hmm, after reading this I also noticed that I also have a tiny notch in one my front teeth, the rightmost one, the one I use to strip wires. Nobody learnt me to do it with my fingers, in fact my parents kept telling me to stop using my teeth, I just seemed to have grown it on instinct or smth.
I used to do the same until my mom said (very angry): don't do that or you'll damage your teeth... :V
i did that in teenage but not much and very carefully so that wire does not drag about the teeth, i hated it.
later i started tinkering with more types of wire and the method wasn't useful anymore
my teeth were worn with sunflower seeds tho
These simple videos + comments have a lot of value!
Very good teaching video, the viewer can see easily what it is you are doing. You explain things well. Thanks
I might have taken the keyboard apart and soldered on an old USB cable with the end cut off directly to the keyboard. It depends on how difficult assembly and disassembly was. 🤣
Exactly what I do too, stagger them so it's a slimmer repair and also less chance of a short if it gets distressed in the future.... Of course replacing the whole cable is preferable if you have a donor cable handy 😋 Love the videos, thanks as always 😄
yeah, I was thinking the same, a new cable will look much better
Yeah that's the way I always fix headphones with damaged cable. Shrink tube is perfectly OK on keyboard cable, but not on headphone cable 🙂
Great video, and great sense of humor, i enjoyed it
Love from India, love all your videos❤️
Thanks! I'll watch you do just about anything with electronics.
Nice for beginners and there's always a better way of doing things. Thanks for sharing and love your channel, especially when you test those made in China USB chargers!
What I sometimes do is cut a piece of hot glue and stick it inside the heatshrink ends before heating it.
You also have heatshrink that has something similar or maybe even the same kind of glue inside, but as I wrote, a small bit of hot glue works too.
Double heatshrink, a short piece (and PVC tape if need to build up the diameter) inside a longer piece, then you have a sealed and tapered repair which helps with aesthetics and physical. it looks professional too.
Even with very basic topics, I always have the feeling with DWG that I'm listening to a Nobel prize eligible university teacher... Just pure happiness!
If soldering is a pain, I've found a good alternative is to crimp mini bootlace ferrules over the twisted wires. Of course use the uninsulated ones! They seem to give a nice secure joint and of course prevents any damage due to heat or solder splashes.
I like this video, it solves my insomnia problem! ;)
Very amusing. Thank you.
Nice repair video
It is so much easier to kill two flies with one swipe than even just ONE bird with a stone ...
I'm not a beginner, but I still manage to forget putting on the heat shrink first about 8/10 times!
Especially when the soldering went fine without stray strands 🤣
Thank you Nandor the Relentless!
I'm sure it was a great repair, but I've tried watching the video several times, and it was sooo ASMR I kept falling asleep... thanks DGW! 😂
Thank you my USB brother. I made a B to B cable from this easy 👌
I stagger the joining of the wires, start joining a splice close to one end and then splice the second further along etc. this reduces the diameter of the bulge in the center and also prevents clumping of all joints in one area.
Vynikající ve všech ohledech 👌
Many thanks.
Excellent vid. Just the way I do it. I like to confirm that I am doing it right. :-)
Our cat bit my brothers mouse cable in half so I used this video in to fix it. Thanks a lot!
A cut keyboard cable? This reminds me of an old Polish meme "tnij, kurwa, tnij!" in which a forum user took the bait and sloppily shortened keyboard cable to reduce lag 😆
Jakie to forum było? 😂
8:30 alternating the folds of the soldered wires would've let the blue heat shrink fit over it... or of course cut the wires at dif lengths. but many people dont think of that right away. so folding them alternating different directions helps.
Teeth are a terrible idea! I used to use my teeth when I was young. Until that one time I failed to release the pressure on the cable once the insulation ripped. I pulled the cable with the copper strands "sliding" between my front teeth. Holy sh*t! The friction heat went straight into the nerve endings of my front teeth. Not even my dentist ever caused that kind of pain :-)
Or use cutter
And the heavy metal that you could possibly ingest over time.
Or buy extra teeth ^_^
Just Kidding!! wire strippers or cutter wil be better idea. I lost some of enamel on my front teeth in childhood because of using them as scissors for everything
You can also a lighter for shrinking the heat-shrink tubes :) But be careful with the lighter and soldering iron.
Maybe add a micro USB or USB C connector so that the cable can just be replaced?
Good idea, and yes there many USB connectors on the market
Also recommended, especially for beginngers; double check and test that all connections are working before closing and finishing up! :)
(First time I was doing it I had to re-do everything because of some of the cables weren't connected well enough, hehe)
Keep up the fight !
Two flies in one smack in Norway as well.
Heat shrink can be such a pain if you forget it, or there isn't room for it without it shrinking from just soldering.
Awesome thanks, can you show how to stich together those fibres in headphone cables so we can fix them too?
You can get shrinking tube that is covered by a layer of glue gun glue inside. Heat shrink and glue it in one step!
Thanks 👍
first time doing this and I was successful because of this Video and his voice is funny af !!
Brilliant ACCENT! ! !
great ASMR description xD
Yay another one
Nice. can you make a video on your pulse soldering machine?
@7:32 - I see that your finger is a perfectly calibrated PWM signal controlling the temperature. :D
I love your heat gun.😂😂😂
Instructions unclear. I used my teeth and broke my jaw. I blame you!
man no shit teeth worked
greetings from chile
I laughed a lot with the micropore :D
I would have suggested making adding a small board with a microUSB connector on the back of the keyboard and then you can use a cheap USB - microUSB cable and replace cables as they get damaged in the future.
It would have looked more professional if you had liquid flux on the wires, tin them, and then solder the ends together without twisting them. Even better idea would have been to offset each wire by a cm or so, because that way you don't have a big thick bulge on the cable.
I smashed my usb cable of my keyboard HyperX alloy elite 2. Do you have any ideas how to connect them?
I use nail cutter to remove insulation from wires.
Question: when using a usb flash drive, do you need the 5v and ground, or can you use just the data+ and data-?
Haha that soldier gun @ 07:00 was straight from the russian 80's
Haha, is your accent real? The dialog is hilarious
Interesting 😀😀❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻
Can someone advise, how do i repair a wireless cable on my mouse?
Open the window and let fresh air replace the old rusted air ;-)
@@ruben_balea oh, thanks, didn't think of that.
Use a telephone line.
Handy tips but i’ve laughed every 10 seconds listening to hin😂😂😂😂😂
BRAVO
Personally, I do not use heat shring tubes, but a hot glue gun. It has a longer lifespan, but of course it doesn't always look as nice as hidden in tubes.
Top beauty!.
“Kill two flies with one slap”
The expression in Dutch is exactly the same.
a russian would say 'two hares with one shot'
Same in germany
Good hit 👍🏻👍🏻 🇮🇳 || Kuki 15|01|2022
more benefit than "Free energy Videos"
Those of use who live anywhere near horses have uttered many expressions regarding flies.
There are 22awg shrink tubes with low temp melting solder paste in it. You place the wires and heat it, that’s all.
Damn those lines about ASMR😂😂😂😂
Man you did batter job then the factory 🏭 😁
NorthridgeFix reference😄
Lol
Clear heatshrink can release halogen gas when heated.
Really?!
Anyways, 4 heatshrink tubes also give a big bulge in cable, I prefer electrical tape under 5mm black heat shrink
Too late - I already broke my fingernail. You'll be hearing from my lawyer.
LMAO! Reminded me why my front teeth needed "fixing" 10 years ago..
bro that asmr stuff was a hell of a roast.
if I do this I cut the wire pairs different lengths to prevent a big bulge in one place, which could end up shorting if crushed I would recommend a 'linemans splice' for a job like that as not only is is it neater but is stronger if cable is likely to get tugged - glad it worked out for you and love your content
The heatshrink shrinks about 50% so you can take that in mind and don't have to waste shrink like that. Also, that CRAZY accent man :D :D :D
I chipped one of my top front teeth when stripping teflon coated wire when I worked at Intel. That wasn't so bad, but to even it out they ground down my front teeth a bit. What a horrible burning stench affair that scenario was, omg. The smell of rosin flux is a dream compared to burning teeth.
Diode gone wild,,,on the table bench.
Good job of repairing a broken usb cable,,,with 4 internal wires,, red, white, green, and black.
Which colour is the earth wire? Black or white,,,or green?
-Today i'll tell you how to fix a usb cable
10 minutes later:
-My soldering iron died while fixing the cable so i'll show you how to fix it
30 minutes later:
-i tripped the circuit breaker
An hour later:
-my room is on fire right now and it's a great opportunity to show you 4 ways to put out a fire
2 hour later:
-How i became homeless by fixing a usb cable
So many birds/flies - all with one slap…
Not possible - he has his fire extinguisher always ready! Cheers! 🍻
If I did a dodgy repair like this (of course I do), I'd leave the extra shrink tubes on the cable for the dog to chew on. :)
hi dude (diode😁) thank you. so what happened to your free energy channel?
DUCK TAPE IS MY MAGIC TOOL
Just for laughs I'd use electrical screw terminal blocks to restore the connection. That would look pretty naaaaaaice.... and then give it back to the sister.
4:48 😂😂🤣🤣😂 OMG !!! 😹😹😹
Prosimtě právě jsem četl, že z trhu ztahují nabíječku C-Tech UC02 u které bylo zjišteno mnoho případú, že se dostalo síťové napětí na sekundární část. Zajímala by mě a určitě i další lidi rozborka téhle nabíječky. Nemohl bys ji rychle někde sehnat dokud se dá koupit?
zkouším to googlit, ale všechny e-shopy jí už očividně přestaly prodávat. Takže jedině by se musel najít někdo, kdo už jí má a daroval by jí.
Until i bothered to buy heatshrink i used electrical tape and the hot glue over it xD
tbh I don't know why I kept watching until the 7th minute, i think your accent is the reason.
6:04 Kepton tape, or.. a normal sticky tape or... whatever tape is this or..
Maybe in next video, there is my sister.. :-D
i love when he says : “H E R E ”
HYEAARRRRR! :D Yes, I like his accent too. And that's one reason why I watch his videos.
I don't remember he did face reveal or not. But i can definitely see it on the reflection of the keyboard. If he did let me know.
Why is your hair dryer molten?
Is an English soundtrack available?
i use a lighter to strip off insulation from thinner cables. its the fastest and easiest method imho
What a waste of heat shrink... I would have used only the thicker one, because it can shrink enough to reach a size that would only have required the blue one.
I rate this splice SUPER DODGY!!!
Just above 10 min ;-)
No schematics this time?
I'm always looking forward to your free-style drawings... in kodachrome color :-) :-)
that was very good repear....only cat say.....what will be the next ha ha .....mjarv :)
Hey are you uploaded this video for checking that how UA-cam's new dislike function looks like?no seriously UA-cam updated that now people can't see how many dislike have on video😅😀
My experience, be aware of the colors, with cheap cables they are not always what you expect.... Have had black and red backwards, or black being one of the data lines etc..m
You need to watch Louis Rossmann as he is teaching you how to fix Macbooks. His 3 or 4 Cats live in luxury and he is driving a Tesla. He has a Chinese girlfriend, less demanding than a Czech one.
Using this accent is in Hollywood's interest
Provided that you are paid the copyright👌👌👌
It would be great if you put English subtitles, I didn't understand anything you said!
I do as you :) wthout your help (:
keybııııl, fixiiiiit
