  • Popular UA-cam channel “Cut” pitted antifeminists against feminists in a game of “truth or drink” in which they ask each other difficult questions and must either answer or drink. Plus a Starbucks employee is fired after a viral video of him calling a customer transphobic, the Oscars diversity guidelines come under fire, and a hot take about men cross dressing. Let’s get into it.

To the point about recognizing unfamiliarity vs. prejudice surrounding people who are different from you, the early parts of mine and my brother's lives were spent in a state with a limited population and pretty much no minorities in our very small town.
Apparently when my brother was still very young, my parents took him to get a haircut. The woman who was going to cut it was black, and my brother freaked out and started crying saying he didn't want "the brown lady" to cut his hair. I guess the woman was incredibly sweet about it, saying she wasn't offended and didn't think he was saying it out of any kind of racism, because as she said, "he's right. I am brown." He didn't know she was black. He didn't know there were different races.
I always think of how that woman really could have interpreted his words, and therefore my parents, as racist. But she didn't. She was understanding and sweet, ultimately cutting his hair.
It would seem she also helped calm a fear that may eventually have developed into a phobia That day was also the day my parents learned about the "brown man" who tried to kidnap my brother from our rural, isolated property.
My brother's first encounter with someone of a different race was unfortunately scary for him. If that woman had gotten offended rather than assessing the situation based on its surrounding context, it seems pretty likely my brother's fear would have remained or even evolved into racism.
I admire that woman even though I never met her, and I'm grateful for her compassion and grace. I'm younger than my brother, so I'm sure if he had developed negative preconceptions from that encounter they would have influenced me to some degree also.

I was speaking to someone who labels themselves as a feminist. We were having quite a relaxed conversation about it. I asked what rights men have today that women don't have. I never got an answer. I heard the usual rantings we hear from "Feminists" about a pay-gap, but nothing else. I'm sure there are other issues, but the very fact that she couldn't think of any and calls herself a feminist screams volumes.
Let’s just clear up this imaginary pay-gap. There is not one single employer who pays a man more than a woman doing the same job. That has been illegal since 1963. It is true that men on the whole get paid more than women on the whole. The commonly regurgitated statistic for this is that women are paid 21% less than men. This may well be true, but it doesn’t take into account the disparity of hours worked by men and by women. On average women work 7.8 hours per day where men, work on average 8.2 hours per day. Therefore, the hours worked by men and by women accounts for 5% of the difference. A study conducted by The Guardian Newspaper in 2016 clearly shows that more women graduate from university than men, but fewer of these women apply for graduate jobs than the men. Also, female graduates who do apply for graduate jobs are far more likely to secure employment than men.
So let’s just recap. more women are graduating than men, but more of those men apply for graduate jobs meaning that a portion of those graduate women are applying for lower paid jobs and are working fewer hours once employed. When all the relevant statistics are taken into account, we can see the real reason for the pay-gap and it has nothing to do with gender inequality. Rather gender equality of choice.
To narrow the pay-gap further, we would have to take away a portion of women’s freedom of choice and demand they work longer hours in the jobs they are choosing not apply for.
Feminists complaining about the “Gender pay-gap” want to take away women’s freedom of choice. Modern feminism centres on equality of outcome and ignores the equality of opportunity.
Now let’s look at some of the social issues affecting men.
94% of work place deaths are of men. (This indicates that the jobs men work are more dangerous, on average, than those worked by women)
99.9% of deaths due to war are of men.
    75% of suicides are men.
76% of murders are of men.
45% of domestic abuse victims are men (which we rarely to never hear about)
Men serve 63% more prison time than women for the same crimes.
71% of Homeless people are men.
    There is also:
    Paternal inequality.
    Lower life expectancy for men.
    Child custody inequality.
    Child Support inequality.
    False Rape Allegations going unpunished.
    Criminal Court Bias.
Social misandry in education and the media.
Boys falling drastically behind in education (mainstream education is tailored for females).
Alcoholism affects twice as many men as women.
Infant Genital Mutilation affects 23% of men and 5% of women worldwide, yet FGM gains much more exposure.
Men have little to no say in regards to reproductive and family planning issues.
There is a huge lack of resources and compassion to male victims of domestic violence.
Prostate cancer has higher mortality rates than breast cancer with a vast disparity of exposure.
It's worth taking note of these to gain a balanced view, and not form opinions from what the majority of the media tells you to think.
Feminism isn’t about gender equality. That movement already exists. It’s called ‘Egalitarianism’.
Not every profession has been male dominated.
    1. Child care services
    94% female
    2. Home health care services
    89% female
    3. Veterinary services
    80.7% female
    4. Social services
    84.8% female
    5. Educational services
75.4% female in elementary and secondary schools
    6. Libraries and archivists
    76.5% female
    7. Accountants
    59% female
    8. Legal services
    54% female
    9. Employment services
    53% female
    10. Leisure and hospitality
    51% female
There are many professions dominated by men for which the inequality goes unnoticed by feminists.
    Building and construction
    Mechanics
    Sports
    Bathroom attendants
    Military personnel
    Logging workers
    Fishers
    Aircraft pilots and flight engineers
    Roofers
    Refuse collectors
    Iron and Steel workers
    Coal miners
    Truck drivers
    Farmers
    Landscape workers
    Power line installers & repairers
    Maintenance workers
    Police officers
    Fire Fighters

What’s so confusing about feminism and the sexuality discussion in general is that between 2009-2013 when I studied sociology in college, we learned that sex was male female, biological binary, and gender was expression, endless ways to express yourself which doesn’t have to be based on sex. But now, that’s changed and nobody is explaining why. It makes more sense to me than the new rhetoric to be honest, it abides by biological facts and addresses gender norms and the need to accept people who don’t fit those boxes.

Exactly. I bring this up everytime I argue with modern feminists. I support equal rights, but I'm not a feminist. If they would really support equal rights, opportunities, treatment, etc. for everyone, then they should call themselves egalitarians, not feminists. But they refuse to see the illogic and inherent discrimination. It's in the name! Fem‧in‧ism.
They assure me feminism is not discriminating, and I remind them that many feminists are discriminating against men, for example. Then they tell me "but those are not the real feminists". Ah yes, but those other feminists also assured me that they are the real feminists, and they hate men. Now you tell me you are the real feminists? So if they are not the real feminists, what are they? Who should I believe? Because definitions do matter. How could I support feminism, if they can't even agree what feminism is? I'll just tell'em that I'll let them sort it out by themselves, and will be waiting at the egalitarian table.

Black, white, brown, yellow you name it. The problem is instead of actually focusing on how poverty, marginalizes children they try to turn it into something racial and political, because the truth is poor, marginalized children come from all over the place from all different backgrounds, and if they actually cared about the children it wouldn’t be political and they would just be helping marginalized people where they needed to be helped and not only if they finish certain criteria or skin color.

I am not happy with the current iteration of feminism, the glorification of femaleness at the expense of men, as well as other women who aren't on the side of politicking as them. I first encountered this at college in a creative writing class. I had won a slam that year and a prestigious part in a big arts festival in Seattle, so I felt I had proved myself as a poet. But these two girls said my poem had elements of unequal power relations. Their solution? Why censorship of course! They felt that subject matter shouldn't be "allowed". I don't understand the new wave of feminism at all.

Talking about kids being curious about stuff they havent seen before always reminds me of a hilarious moment my dad had in a public restroom.
My dad wears an ankle brace to help him walk, because he has no feeling in his left leg. So anyway, he was in a bathroom once and there was someone in the stall next to him, so he was kind of waiting until that person left so he could do his business.
But the person was taking a really long time. So long that eventually the kid's mom popped her head in the bathroom and yelled to him to hurry up.
A minute after that, my dad sees a tiny little kid hand slip underneath his stall. The kid slowly reached out, touched my dad's leg brace, and then pulled his hand back and left the bathroom. 😂
We love to laugh about that story, thinking of the time a little kid thought he was in a bathroom stall next to some kind or cyborg or something 😂 he just couldn't let his curiosity go unexplored, but he had to take his time to muster the courage

They would always take my two young nieces with them and I vehemently disagreed with them doing this and refused to go with them. I was never able to understand how my mother in-law could justify taking the girls there, and she constantly justified it when we spoke saying things like it was healthy for them to witness. My husband and I were the only ones in the family who disagreed with it so I always sort of felt like maybe it was just me being prude. "What is a chair?"
It's a piece of furniture that is designed to be sat on, having a seat, usually four legs, a backrest and sometimes two arms.
If somebody's definition of the word chair leads the person they are speaking with to think of a horse, that can be followed up with using the word chair in a sentence. And also compare the chair and the horse in definition and in use in a sentence. The horse is an animal. The chair is furniture.
People think randomly asking someone to define a word is some kind of 'gotcha!' because most of us are not good at defining a word, especially suddenly and unexpectedly in a completely unrelated conversation.
The great thing about conversation is that all the people involved have the opportunity to clarify what they are saying.
