В том то и дело что играет он не легко, а разумно что позволяет рационально расходовать силы в играх с более молодыми и резкими соперниками. Такие как Овчаров, с резкими ударами и подачами крайне редко выживают в элите настольного тенниса ближе к 40
Так умно и красиво играть не легко, это высший пилотаж, это шахматная партия за теннисным столом и в этом деле Самсонов давно признанный гроссмейстер.

Are you here to watch a table tennis match, or a handshake? So what if they cut it, it's not gonna make the match itself any better or worse, so why does it matter so much for you to see that?
@TheFriesel Yes, I know. It's not the fault of TTLondon2012 (or whoever makes these videos for ITTF right now), it has to be the live director.
But that director keeps on cutting out the handshake when assembling the shots, and this has been happening regularly for years. So the director appears to be an incompetent guy who just won't learn how to do his job properly. It's ridiculous that ITTF can't even get this right.
yeah, these players must take handshake after match. We suppose that they forgave. Next time, there must be handshakes. It is sport.

Решающий мячь был при 6-3,обидно промазал.Было б 8-3.Хотя потом 2 матч бола!!!!!!!!!!
Овчаров достал стонать как псих. Вот Самсонов это человек воспитанный.
Овчаров играет в рамках правил и по стонам он не самый выдающийся стонатель, ему до Марии Шараповой в этом жанре никогда не дорасти

Игра была напряженнейшей. Болел за Самсонова. Овчаров очень сильный техничный игрок, но играет некрасиво. Не в смысле техники и качества сомой игры, а разлражают его ужимки и стоны. (В этом смысле не нравится и Шмырев ужимками и постоянной нервной суетой) Другое дело Самсонов: сдержанная классика, отточенный опыт, лаконичные движения.
Damn, the first ball of the 7th set was outrageous. And Ireally liked the fact, that Ovtcharov didn't throw his bat away at the end.

Nah, Samsonov before turning 30 was another beast to speak of, one that could shake the entire CN men's team. If he was more lucky it is even possible for him to be a grand slam. He managed to push Zhang Jike into the decider at London 2012, when he was 34. The reasons Timo Boll or Samsonov still look so good today is because they were even better during their primes, when they could occasionally chainsaw the top 3 of the CN team.

@@l.busyghost3625 Nope,Samsonov's forehand technique was built for the 38mm ball.Only thing that may have improved since his early days is his serve which is hardly a weapon anyway.He was much better in his prime.
Samsonov himself said in an interview he played better when he was no1 in the world(2000).It's just Ovtcharov's extremely robotic style that allows him to keep up with him.He was asolutely destroyed by Kreanga in 2003 WTTC which probably marked his decline in absolute terms.

Samsonov is legend. But Dima is exellent. Balance match. But Dima had a very small gap of strong mental in the last final points. And he won. It is interesting to enjoy, expecially last game. Great rallies, positional playing. I do not know what the ball is in this match. But i see that players can react to catch balls. It is the sign to promise that future games will be interesting with rallies and athletic actions. We see some unforced errors from both players. But these unforced errors are because of that players decided to make risk devastating balls, and not because of that players could not react with ball speed. But really, it is necessary to reduce ball weight to stimulate table tennis. What is the rule of ball weight now ? 2.5gram ball weight ? It is so heavy. 1.5gram is better.

Vladimir has the most legal serve among the pro players. I wasn't able to spot one legal forehand serve by Dimitrij in this match btw.

It is annoying to see that so many top players practically are hiding large parts of their serve... I don't want to know how many points Samsonov lost by that. They really should introduce an additional referee for serves or a camera.

George Holmes they just have a lot of new young players who are just as good... unfortunately in Germany 30 ish year olds Boll and Ovtcharov are the best... or for Belarus Vladimir is still the best... Countries like China or Japan keep having new young players 15-18 who are truly amazing
It's called competition. Wang liqin retired at 35 and you can google his muscles image. Wang Hao retired after london but he is still a beast in training. There are enough young talents to eventually surpass them and they have to retire because they are no longer competitive.
