IMPORTANT UPDATE!!! : NO NEED TO FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL NOW ua-cam.com/video/gSiwZD258Ww/v-deo.html DaVinci Resolve just released the Outer Stroke Effect in the latest version, Resolve 19.1! So this process got a whole lot easier! No need to spend all this time to add a simple outer stroke! I've already made a video on the new feature, click on the link given above to watch it! This is the correct path - C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Effects Note: The last two Edit\Effects folders are not there by default, just create these folders and put the .settings file and it will work.
This is very much in demand and useful in any situation. Thank you so much. Most importantly, I was surprised that this effect works with both static and moving objects. Cool 🔥🔥🔥
The location doesn't work because my davinci resolve is in windows C, but after changing the C to E, I'm still not getting the output. Because after my templated folder has no other folder inside it
Same here. Are you doing this on a Mac? I noticed it at least works in fusion, but I don't know where to save the setting so it also shows up in effects in the edit tab.
Hey! I Love this tutorial - For Outlining Video -> When I go to the Magic Mask in the Color Tab, and Delete the background through an Alpha Channel, my video does not outline my subject. I tried to export the transparent video, and it successfully stroked the subject. Can I achieve a stroke around my subject without exporting? Thanks so much!!
This is Amazing, but no matter how much I try to position it, the edges are never equal because the intensity slider does not have the y and X axis separated.
There is a much better and cleaner way to do this by simply plugging the image into the ErodeDilate node and using that alpha to cut out a background which you set to the color of your choice and then merge over the original image. This avoids issues around the edges. You seem like a very smart person Sam and I'd encourage you to do more tests for tutorials like this before you simply use old techniques from other tutorials, which it seems like you did here.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! Also, just like you must've learnt it from somewhere or someone, and shared it with us, I too, learn from UA-cam myself, and share it with others by explaining it in my own way. Sadly, I couldn't find a better way than the one I've explained, if I would've, I would've definitely shared that one. So people, if you have a better way for implementing anything, please do share it with us, like this bright young lad has.
The information in this video is slightly inaccurate. The setup of the nodes of the preset in this video will work just fine if you are going to apply it to a png image straight from the media library. But if there's a green screen that needs to be sorted first, then you will have to add the additional nodes to the preset. This was not mentioned and I found out by tinkering around.
Yo Thanks for reminding, I had forgotten to update it in the desription Here you go : C:\Users\ADMIN\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Effects I've updated it in the desription as well

Can you put the nodes in order not understanding this?
What if we just wanna the border line, not with the image?

@@WithSam okay brother n 😊 Thankyou
oh why can't fusion be as simple as After effects...I found a simpler way: Erode/Dilate Node + Color Corrector on a copy of the MediaIn.
why is it this complicated
Doing most things is resolv can be complicated, even simple things like this
Does not work.
Ty dude, save my ass!
😂❤️🙏
1) Thank you so much. 2) What a bunch of nonsense it took all this to create a basic effect for an image file in Davinci.
1) You're Welcome my friend! 2) I can relate to that, yes 😂
there has to be an easier way...
yep paper edge
