I am just getting started but I saw another video by Candace Crocket where she showed a method for measuring the threads that made a whole lot of sense. She positioned two C clamps on her table 36 inches apart and then ran the thread between them twice as many times as the threads she needed. So if she needed eight 72 inch threads, she wound the thread around the C clamps 16 times and then cut all the the threads at one end. That gave her eight threads 72 in long done in about 30 seconds.

      Hi there.
I'm trying out tablet weaving for the first time. And i'm really having trouble with the tension. I haven't fully understood... On the top you make a knot for every single thread and then one megaknot to hold them all in place?

You talk about locking loose threads at the bottom... Do you have some close up? I don't really get it

This video was so helpful! It's my first time trying out tablet weaving, and I am really proud of how successful my first attempt was, all thanks to this tutorial. I appreciate the slow pace, and the fact that no step is cut out from the footage. It's like sitting with a personal tutor, or a live class. Also, every term used to describe the weaving process is explained, rather than assuming we already know these words. Thank you so much!

I loved your instruction! I dabbled in tablet weaving long ago and now that I'm retired and traveling, I want to explore it more because of the portability of it. Thank you!

Try putting the "ball or skein" of thread into a cardboard box with a dowel stuck through sideways. It will work similar to a toilet paper holder.
I've never quite understood this process from others, but you've done a thorough job of explaining how it works. I think I can get started doing something I've been wanting to learn. Thanks for all the cautionary tips.

Nice vid! FYI, all spools best peel-feed horizontally (laid in bowl/on stick/knave). All skeins ctr-pull best vertically (upright post/tube/bottle).

Thank you. This is exactly what I was needing - a way to try it out without having to buy an expensive loom. If I get hooked on it I won't mind. I want to make trim for steaking knitwear or trimming on bags, etc. This looks ideal.

Thank you for showing every step. I looked and looked for a detailed explanation and yours is the only one I can follow well. I hope you show us more patterns! 🙏🏽

This is a great explanation. i've got about a year of experience and I still found this to be very helpful, coming back to tablet weaving after a few months' hiatus.

My question is: it's not easier put inside each thread and make he knot after? Thank you! It's exactly what I want to do.

Thank you. I am going to try this pattern first because it has only 10 cards, two colors, and forward turns.

This is an amazing video that allowed me to make my first project! However i have a question, why is it an uncentered 10 card pattern? Would i be able to leave out card 1 and have a 9 card centered pattern?

Can you thicken your project by adding more than one string per hole or is it just better to get thicker thread?

Tried this today, excellent instructions however I don't like turning the cards backwards to untwist the warp, border and turning point very noticeable and messy, nevertheless I thank you for an excellent video.

I saw some time back were someone used 1/2 inch keyrings and fishing swivels. 4 swivels on 1 key ring per card. Instead of knotting the 4 threads together, just tie them to the fishing swivels and then thread through the cards. When the the threads start to get too twisty, you just run your fingers along each thread from the card up to the swivel and it will spin to take all the twists out. I forgot where I saw this done…it was like 4 years ago maybe but if you are really interested and want photos or something you can just reply and I can make a private video or something for you?
