Exactly! I dropped the game after making it to platinum with Ken. My heart just wasn't in it if my main character wasn't on the roster. Looks like it is time to pick it back up now.
Storywise I’m content with how they’ve handled him so far, he’s been off the radar for several years and is essentially starting from zero with a slightly different mentality regarding his life and strength
@arkturus1451 I thought it was from the sf movie bison has a painting on the wall that is the same pose as his win pose. Pretty sure they would reference themselves before fist
You guys don’t understand storyline….this bison is the spirit side of him thats why he doesn’t know the name and blue energy Plus during a fight u see his arm turn purple and he says whoever you are show your face I will get you soon…meaning an internal battle
He is too iconic, even if he would not have been back in SF6, he would have returned in SF7. It is like saying "Ok now the story's main character is Luke so we can get rid of Ryu!" ... That would never happen !
I think that Bison should be a background character for now. That way, if they want build up the arc of the return of Shadaloo and not effecting the new generation Street fighter
Bison is definitely looking like he’s gonna take a back seat in the story going forward with the whole amnesia thing thats going on with him. We’ll just have to see how they develop him going forward.
It’s honestly in best interest to just keep Shadaloo on the back burner for a while as a tertiary villain instead of them being the main villains AGAIN. I’d love to see maybe a resurrection of the Illuminati with Urien coming in.
@@autil7393 For sure. The Illuminati has to show up eventually considering how prominent they were in SFIII. Having them back in some capacity is my top wish for the game.
I feel like there's something to highlight here, and it's that story in fighting games are strictly *secondary* and gameplay is primary (excluding marketing), even though they're completely capable of telling compelling stories and character arcs, the roster solely depends primarily on the needs of the gameplay, not the story. Bison was likely included because of the fact that Capcom wants to re-add his moveset into the game so players can have the M. Bison experience in SF6. Until Bison gets a replacement that moves exactly like him, this trend isn't gonna change. The story he's going to go through in-game and the new design are all secondary, though if we're getting Bison back again, I'm at least glad they're doing something interesting with his character like everyone else.
yeah no, this video is pointless . M bison is a staple, he is to street fighter what vader is to star wars. Absolutely no way you could ever get rid of him permanently . And i'm glad that lore wise he is established to always come back as long as the psycho power lingers around. He is immortal in a sense
It's funny using Vader and Star Wars in general as an example when it's one of the franchises that's the biggest offenders when it comes to diluting its brand and characters for the sake of nostalgia these days. People went from thinking Boba was cool to not giving a fuck about him cuz they couldn't come up with a compelling enough story to justify handing him his own show. While games are different because gameplay is the main focus characters aren't immune to experiencing the same effects in terms of story and world building. I think in Bison's case they've got a cool approach going for now but if he dies again they gotta stop trying to shoehorn him back into the story and lore. Just make him a noncanon fighter after that point. I really hope current Bison goes in a unique direction away from Shadaloo. He can still be a villain or at least be chaotic neutral but I really don't wanna see the same rinse and repeat of Bison and Shadaloo being beaten for like the 4th time.
Id rather him never stay dead. His moveset is too cool. His story and lore moving to something different, becoming more like a looming monster in the background that causes problems wherever he appears rather than world threatening dictator would be interesting. That or a mysterious and sudden major threat to the Illuminati once the conflict with them kicks off again (if it does).
If it helps, it seems like they're playing the amnesia angle with Bison, so while it seems like he'll still be a villain, he might at least be a very different villain in terms of character
My friend suggested a theory that the bison we are going to see in this game is a sort of possessed bison, because his dialogue from the trailer seems to lend itself to the person not actually being bison. I could totally be wrong though, wouldn’t be the first time Capcom did a revive on a dead character.
JP is legitimately a better villain so I hope they add some actual nuance to him this time or make it so JP is actually above him because as much as I think Bison looks amazing in this game I'm so sick of new villains being thrown under the bus because the nostalgia addicts in the community want their fix.
I think that there are more people who care about the lore then you think which is why many people are mixed on him being back in comparison to Heihachi staying dead while the story moves on.
@@gokublack3107 There are still people who grew up playing fighting games and are pros at them who still care about story and I would argue that lore and story are important elements to these games because they are the reason why environments look the way they do, character designs, powers, boss characters, and moveset.
Now if you made this comment back around 2007 or earlier than that I will understand but MK9 changed the whole format of fighting game stories I mean yes the early games that has story and Tekken games continued their story but it was MK9 that put MK fighting game stories on the map
SF2 fanatics aside. This is likely a new man who Bison tried to jump to, and failed as the trailer heavily hints at. Same moveset better character to have an arc and new fans added
I get what you're saying but we all know the street fighter story timeline is messed up so at this point it is what it is.. I think bison will be just a background character in Street fighter 6 because he's lost I forgot his memory and I think he's going to slowly remember his memory and build up until street fighter 7
The gameplay trailer has a voice line at the beginning where he states that someone is telling him that he "looks like a man named bison" and that he's going to take the name for himself, so atleast they're doing something different storywise
Bison main here. The way they brought him back was very interesting, I think, seeing that this Bison has taken more of what Akuma’s role was as a sort of wandering traveler in search of a fight to satisfy his hunger. This guy doesn’t remember wanting to rule the world, but he sure as hell still wants to dominate
Despite bison being back i heard JP is still the main villain in sf6 and as for bison we'll have to see the story mode to see more or get leaks of his lore to explain how he got back ( in specifically the body ryu had destroyed)
I like to think this isn’t even bison, just an entire different character that happens to resemble him. He even says it in the trailer. Idk I just like how cool he is and at least we are still getting three dope characters in the other DLC
Who know? Now that he has amnesia and fighting for control between Soul Power and Psycho Power, it could be his redemption arc. And i’m sure damn well my mind will be blown if Capcom mange to pull it off
One of the reasons I love sf6 is this one…, Ryu, sagat and this guy m.bison. Capcom should release all characters! I don’t care if they were dead or not. It’s a game and that’s enough for me to have fun.
I'm new to SF and am mixed on Bison coming back. I actually don’t mind the lore reason, he’s an amnesiac with no memories of his life, I wouldn’t mind him working for either side, just doing stuff that benefits or helps himself.
Isn’t the bison in SF six a new character his trailer states he shall take this name for his own doesn’t that imply that This is a new character who simply took up that name like king in Tekken three
While maybe not knowing who this “Bison” fella is, he fights a lot like bison & even has his stance . I think that was to make us speculate bout his story but this is most definitely bison
The thing is him having the same move set and fighting stance as bison from the previous games doesn’t prove anything because in other examples of fighting game new generations often times there are successors who have the same name as previous characters and have the exactsame move sets again like king from Tekken three
Keep Bison in the background. Let the new generation establish themselves while letting the older generation a break, acting like mentors and guides in their respective journeys. J.P. is already proven himself to be a threat to be on bison’s level and mysterious enough to flesh out his character later on. If you want to keep Bison, then let him be something else. Let Bison start at the bottom with no memory of his previous life, let him slowly build himself back up while forging a new identity.
He has stored Bodies at his disposal. It makes total sense and justifies his return. Street fighter 2 is said to have occupied a weaker body. He's been doing this a long time.
The new badass bison has done a f-u to everone....this new version is the grim reaper himself ready to just turn everyone back to dust and ashes..the man does many of his moves with his arms folded and sometimes while levetating..the man even rides his horse arms folded and gets off arms folded levetation off.....the man is beating the crap out the roster with his arms all folded so he is totaly relaxed and not even realy trying...and laughing at them all while kicking them around like a football....this is the dark destroyer bison
Honestly, Bison should have never died in the first place. His power level is on another level. It would be like Goku dying to Krillin, Yamcha, and the gang.
More character variety is always good. They could add characters without being related to the current story. Story is always been second to gameplay at least in fighting games. Variety of ways to play the game is always welcomed especially in pvp based games.
If Adon or fei long was added, I probably would've brought the game. I'm a fan of Bison and Sagat. But to have a street fighter game with the student being the master of muy thai would be interesting.
I think it's partially because it's a fighting game first and people who main Bison would naturally want him back as a playable character. Which imo would be very ok, if he was going to be treated not as part of the canon plot but as a "What If" character. Unfortunately, they clearly aren't doing that.
Well he does not remember who really is, he could become one with nothingness and become someone (or something) like the Grim Reaper and he is nothing more than just a man and his power…more like a Fallen king
I can understand Capcom wanting to use Bison's moveset but they didn't need to bring him back They could have used a Psycho Doll like Decapre or März. Anything than yet another Bison clone.
As long as he stays away from the main spotlight as a homeless fight happy amnesiac who doesn’t become the main bad guy again this feels like the best thing they can do. Heck he can actually have arcs and a personality now rather than being a flat character megalomaniac who sits in his chair waiting to be beaten up every game.
What do you expect cant have a street fighter game without bison alive if he wasn't then it should have been finished and you dont decide whether to let him die or not just wait for the story to unfold

If anything his move list is iconic and it looks like he'll shake up the meta at the very least with how much space he covers with just drive rush. It'll be fun to watch
It doesnt seem like he is back completely or ever will be again. He has no memories of who he was even if he has the same hunger. Not only that but JP seems to wield psycho power far better and has the world convinced he is an honest businessman. I dont think bison is currently capable of defeating him. JP holds the world in the palm of his hand and is far more composed, tactical, and thorough then bison could ever be; I mean he was the financial advisor of a grand criminal organization after all. I was upset that Bison will have to sit out SF6 for lore reasons. This perfect octagonal jaw should not be left behind. But - season 2 is too soon, too soon.
I mean, ryu has been in every street fighter. So i dont see no prob bringin bison back. AND BTW HE LOOKS WAY TOO FIRE
M.Bison is a Iconic Villain like Akuma is Iconic Capcom has to bring back the originals;Ryu,Ken,Chun,Cammy,Guile they always there
They learned that lesson with
Street fighter 3 series !
Ryu and Ken weren't gonna be in it
With sean being the lone karate guy .
Then they added chun li and akuma .
At one point Guile but they scrapped him
For remy !
@@Lupo32 That's insane u take out the poster boys and think the fans gonna like it.
Bison is street fighter. Where the F@ck is sagat!?
Bison is so dominant and so great I'm glad he's back!! We needed him 🎯
