    I volunteer at the Valspar. On Monday of tournament week I was cleaning the practice green and getting ready to take golf balls down to the ball washer, when I was told to head to the 10th tee box. I asked why and was informed I would be caddying for Mr. Bryan for the Monday Pro Am. I want to emphasize as great a golfer as he is, he was beyond gracious to me and the Pro Am team. Thank you sir for allowing me a tremendous experience, one this old guy won’t soon forget. Yup he’s really good at golf and I saw that up close👍😊

    Best part of this video to me was when Wesley was walking off the 18th green, in what I would imagine would be a pretty tough moment, he was still able to think of the young fan on the ropes and toss them a glove. Something small, but probably meant a lot to that kid, and shows that even in his worst mood Wesley has great character. That's worth much more then anything else. Cheers.

Especially from the point of view of an exceptional golfer it shows why the PGA Tour is the top tier and most challenging professional sport there is. Its unfortunate that its Wesley but this is an all in 1 video that explains professional golf in a nutshell, and why it takes Wesleys incredible outlook and persevearance to even have a chance. @@touristguy87 the average crappy player doesn’t have half the nerves of playing to keep your spot on tour

    • @touristguy87
      @touristguy87 2 роки тому

      @@kurtztraining of course not because they know they can't play well enough to keep a Tour spot, if they were somehow to get one, like through a Tour-card lottery or something. As they are, by definition, the average crappy player. But given that knowledge and 100% conviction in it, why would they play nervously at all? I'd expect that the players with the worst case of "nerves" would be the average "bubble players", the guys within 2 strokes of the cut-line, and so on. Competition is really good at exposing a lack of self-confidence combined with excessive fear of failure. The players for whom their golf future is almost certain, I would expect to have little to nothing to worry about either way.
      But seriously. You have to admire the PGA Tour, as they let just about any jackass try to earn a Tour card. They allow just about any tournament-sponsor to give a sponsors' exception to just about any jackass. What's the equivalent of that in any other sport? College sports simply don't have that, it is mandatory for NCAA schools and athletes to play at least one season before they can even be considered a prospect for a pro team. So there could be a Professional Baskeball Association that would allow anyone to play into the US Open of Basketball, for example. But they still couldn't get paid to play basketball by an NBA team.
      They can now get paid by a SPONSOR.
      Even that took DECADES to accomplish.
      For the very longest time, they took any money from anyone they were disqualified from NCAA sports and thereby almost entirely blocked from joining a pro league. Imagine that happening with baseball, where for again decades most prospects had never even heard of a college baseball program! Even now they have a baseball draft where the top players are what, 17?
      The ones that don't get drafted or don't like their draft pick, they either go on to play college ball and join the draft again the next year or they sign for a minor-league team. How did football and basketball get so fucked-up compared to baseball? I don't know. But seriously, how could golf be more pure in this regard?
      Do we have D1, D2 and D3 golf leagues that are controlled by the NCAA? Hell, no. They are straight-up amateur and pro leagues controlled by the PGA. Title 1X is not a sports issue, it's an academics issue. What would UT, TCU, UTEP, Auburn, Alabama, FSU and LSU do if tomorrow they had to divert half of the funding for their mens' football team to a womans' football team?
      As much money as flows through the pro sports leagues of this country, none of that money is seen as tainted when it comes to golf money. Golfers are angels compared to the average athlete. Even the ones who are known "bad boys". You never see one getting harassed on line by people saying that they should be banned from the sport. It's like night and day compared to other sports. And why? Because access to the PGA tour is HONEST and based simply on PERFORMANCE.

    • @kurtztraining
      @kurtztraining 2 роки тому

      no because they werent there in the first place and are likely playing for fun lol. tournament play is a different animal. all golfers admit the first tee nerves at the masters are insane. its a tough psychology to understand but i dont get how you think they wouldnt have nerves acting up. sorry i didnt read the rest of what you typed except regarding the last paragraph how many golfers have been accused/arrested of beating their children/ significant other. theres no denying golfers are a far different breed than the actual athletesin football or basketball, they most of the time already come from money.

      @@kurtztraining "its a tough psychology to understand but i dont get how you think they wouldnt have nerves acting up. sorry i didnt read the rest of what you typed "
      ...well, maybe that's why you don't get it.
      Do you even know the entry requirements for the Masters?
      Try contrasting that with why you think that "all golfers admit that the 1st tee nerves at the Masters are insane". Did they all come by your place, sit with you and have a chat and let that slip out?
      Go read the entry requirements for the Masters. Then come back and say something intelligent and informed.

George I know you are a hell of a golfer in your own right- but how bout these production and story telling skills??? So good. And Wedgeley- your swing and short game are like butter. So helpful to hear the insight provided. And this video in particular, the tension was real, and you took a very difficult situation and handled it like the champ you always will be. Fyi - I own the house on the right side of 8th green Harbour Town. So the next time you play the Heritage, and you'll be back, expect some low country love when you get to 8! You guys are the best. Your newest fan. All the best to the family!!!

    This was so great george. It was also a little sad seeing Wesley's nerves and hearing him talk about it and knowing the end result, but I'm really following and pulling for him. Hopefully we see him back as a regular full member on the PGA tour in no time!

    Respect to you Wesley for your frankness. Unless you've been to Q-school you cannot know how great the mental challenge is.
    A friend (who's played on the KF) got to the final stage at this year's LIV qualifying. Absolutely smashed the first two rounds, then, with scores reset, he just didn't have it for the final 36.

    Liked the talk at the end of each round. A lot of respect to you all for doing it after the final round as well. DIdn't have to do that. I started following your guys channel during covid and have became a really big fan of your entire family. All seem like really good people and you work hard. There is no doubt in my mind that Wesley will get his card back and this will be looked back on as a bump in the road that you overcame. Good luck to ya and just remember that you have a ton of support!!

    Great video depicting life on the tour for the guys trying to keep their cards. I watched the Tournament and saw when he made the cut, but never knew if he kept his card or not. I can honestly say, not knowing the results, I was feeling a little stressed for him. Wesley good Luck in the future events, I’ll be saying some prays that you can pull out a victory.
