The part about actually obtaining a new box and papers starts at 9:01
Made my buyers remorse completely go away about buying a Rolex without papers! I’ll just get it serviced! Perfect! Thanks
Perfect idea for the none vintage Rolex watch. I'm a little less trusting for my vintage Rolex pieces however. You are always such a wealth of information!
Great vid. Was in a AD last month, talking to the salesman,he was telling me a guy bought a Omega motm, he put the watch on ,said he didnt want the box and papers, keep them he said.unbelievable.😎🇬🇧

Thanks Marc, thoroughly enjoyed this video. I have a 16700, S-serial from 1993, but no box and papers. This was a big help.

Is the warranty card in late model Rolexes the new version of the piece of paper certificate from the vintage ones? I have the warranty card with mine. Does that mean I have “The Paper”?
Hi Marc. Did you send your watch through your local AD Rolex or direct shipping to Rolex service center? Thanks n hope to hear from you. More power. Kind regards. giuseppe
Marc, I purchased a new Rolex Datejust Turn-O-Graph 116263 in February 2005. Too fancy for me so I put it in my safe. 5 years later I decided to take it to a dealer just to see what he would offer me. He removed the watch from the box and asked me if I knew there were protective stickers on the watch. I said no, I didn’t see them, while he was talking to me he proceeded to remove all the original stickers and the hologram caseback sticker. I thought he was doing me a favor, then later, about 2 years later I started querying the internet and found removing the stickers on a collector’s watch devalues the watch quite a bit. I was very upset. So, my question is can you buy new Rolex OEM stickers to replace the removed ones. Watch is still new in box with everything. Fun video. Thanks
Does anyone know if this is a similar process for getting Omega cards? I have a 2220.80 seamaster and I’m trying to see if I can get any form of replacement cards. Great video!
when do we get to see the vid of nos taylor padlocks and mortise cylinders???
Hey Marc have you noticed a distinct smell in new Rolex watch boxes
Having your watch serviced by Rolex is the best advice I know to authenticate the watch. Extremely valuable Rolex Military watches are not issued with box and papers, so take note Duke these owners do the service thing to authenticate when and where the watch was issued. With an average value of a military issue watch of around £20.000 well worth wile.
Hey, Mark. I have a Hulk 116610LV from June 2018, with a photocopy of both front and back of the receipt from Ben Bridge jewelers showing the matching serial number on the receipt. I'm worried that my wife threw out the box and papers when it was 3-4 weeks old. So I have no problems with it, it's mint, and it should have 3 years of warranty left; but it seems to be noticeably devalued if I want to sell it for a mint DSSD 126660, because I don't have the box and warranty card. What would you do in this circumstance? I'm leaning towards keeping it if I can't find the box and card, but it's a safe queen because it feels slightly small on my wrist and I wanted it to stay mint in case I trade or sell it for a bigger watch.
I insist on B & P on all my watches. From a $200 G Shock to a 18K Yacht Master. It’s peace of mind and knowing I have a full set is worth the extra few hundred bucks to a thousand on the higher side. Will I ever sell any watch? Maybe but the next owner will appreciate the full set. I even insist on shipping materials if available. I have been known to have the AD order a brand new fresh shipment and not open the shipping box until I’m there, then I take the entire box, plastic bags, stickers, tags, foam padding and the shipping container as some companies ship watches separate from the presentation box. When you drop $10k or more that’s a lot of money so I am only happy when I get exactly what I want.
My Gmt master II coke came with no papers but I just will have it serviced and Rolex will send you service papers
I'm sorry but if you think RSC paperwork on printed A4 paper will pass as "box and papers" you're insane. Papers are the papers or card that were filled out at purchase. Nothing else.
The papers through RSC might raise the resell value of a watch, yes, especially if it's actually been serviced recently. But it is not the same as "box and papers" and no collector or dealer will prescribe the same value to them. That is false information.
if i take the watch to a service center "the one in NYC" and decline the service after the quote what paper work do i get back ? and is there a cost for them to just look at the watch if i decline service ?
I just had my Y serial number circa 2002 Rolex Daytona 116518 white gold serviced through the AD. It took 5 weeks cost well over $1,000 and when I picked it up there was no travel pouch no boxit came in the AD store bag with a Rolex catalog and a timepiece magazine and of course a bill.
Where do you send the watch to? Does the watch have to be sent back to the original dealer it was purchased from or can it go directly to the RSC?
If you send the watch for a service will they service the bracelet too?
Like yr style Marc.Subbed! I recently got a Z-Blue Milgauss and the packaging is so poor. I also purchased a cheaper GP Sea Hawk and the card outer and wood veneered box was something else. Rolex do take us for mugs!
It could be worse. G shocks come in a tin can!
great video thankyou Marc 6/27/2018
Great video but can you look down about two inch and to the left. Then you'll be looking straight into the lens. Cheers.
Great video Marc, love to see the older and newer versions of "box and papers". Another thing, I hear your position on polishing, I'm curious to hear your opinion on laser welding a vintage Rolex.
John Richards in my opinion, I wouldn’t do it. Some expert as artisans that can recreate a bevel, but they are quite expensive. Personally I and many other collectors prefer to see patina on vintage and preloved watches
I own a D- series GMT II coke dial 16710, circa 2005. I kept all papers, box, tags, bill of purchase and certificates that came with the watch. I owned the watch of 15 years and the watch was serviced after 12 years for the first time. Total cost $840 at Rolex service center in NYC at 5th avenue Rolex building. I kept the paper work which verifies all serial numbers as well ass the actual service performed on the watch. Immaculate time piece. I am looking to sale it. Any ideas on the current going price? Any advice is welcome
What site did you get from
Service Warrenty Card worth the Price of a Service?
I have several Rolex models complete with box, booklets, tags but no papers. As the Rolex service center now gives a green two year warranty card after their service. How does this service warranty card equate in value to an original warranty card, for future resale? For example is it worth $1000 for a Rolex service on the Daytona to get a green service warranty card? Does this post original warranty card with box and booklets, now really make it a "complete package"? Or does nothing replace the value of the original warranty card or paper.
Informative, thanks esp re the info about Rolex no longer issuing a “paper”. When did that stop?
Hey Mr. Jimothy, it stopped on January 69th at 4:20pm
Video starts at 9.00 :-)
I have an Exlporer 2 that my dad gave me many years ago. I had it serviced in Singapore and I got the receipt and everything, but they just put it in a lousy travel bag. No box or anything fancy.
Where can I get box, tags etc for rolex yachtmaster 1
Take a shot every time marc says box and papers .. now i know how arch feels on daily .
Drink responsibly… don’t spill any.
I live in the UK and I have taken my Rolex Datejust to my local Rolex service centre that I got from the Rolex website. When talking to the chap about the service I brought up the topic of obtaining a replacement warranty or papers and at first he denied it, then his boss agreed with me and I was told the cost to be £100.00, so pretty cheap considering the value increase it would provide. So worth going to the trouble.
Hi, can you tell me the name and address of the Rolex center where was you? Thank you
I was waiting for u to say the wrist watch check...
Does it work for Breitling??
Your first datejust...is the warranty on papyrus?
Chiseled on a stone tablet!
Oh, I was thinking cuneiform.
Huh, what? Gimmie a second....
VING! Goddamn it, I told you to start writing it in ENGLISH!
Actually it is written in Sanskrit on vellum.
i have a 1996 gmt master 2 coke dial and 2004 submariner date what i dont understand why wouldent you get get the case and bracelets back scratch free surely they would polish them as they are ment to be ?
Marc....what size box did your DSSD-Cameron come in? Medium? When I got my DSSD-Cameron, it was shipped in a small box. I bitched and bitched, sent the small box back from Alaska to the AD and they sent me a medium. It should come in a Large as it's a tribute watch from the Rolex forums.
To my understanding , those discon 2 liner ND Sub does not come with any chronometer cert. Just for info*
What comes in the pillow pocket?
I am the original owner of my Rolex, bought in the mid 80's. Sadly, I need to sell it due to financial hardship. I don't have the box or original paperwork but know where it was purchased. Is it helpful to attempt to get a copy of the original sale in addition to following your advise?
How many watch you got so far?
Greats tips, I’m gonna get a Rolex from bobs watches w/o box or papers and I’ll get it serviced
I sent mine off to the service center through my local AD, and they sent it back in a green velvet travel case, warranty, a work done break down. I wonder if my AD took the shipping box.
Did Paul Newman's Daytona come with box and papers?
Hi mate the subby no date is a beauty I'm lusting after one at the minute but a Tudor pelagos is more realistic money wise what do you think about the pelagos all the best mate from the UK mark c
Go back and look at some of my previous videos because I have done several about the pelagos versus the submariner.
Marc Goldberg cheers mate I'll do that really like the look of the pelagos and price !! But the subby is really my grail watch it's just affording it without the missus finding out hahaha!!!!
I like the tudor pelagos titanium, excellent value over a rolex and a very reasonable price as well. I own, rolex gmt II circa 2005, sinn U1 circa 2018 and i just recently sold a omega seamasyer quarts cieca 1997. Of course i also own bulovas and seikos as i love a good watch that can be a daily wearer. My next watch will for sure be a tudor
Marc you're shaking the paper, I wasnt able to get the serial number. hmm
Marc, you need to watch the audio levels. This one is all over the map.
Come be my director!
It won't be deer, it'll be chamois leather i.e. mountain goat, but these days they substitute sheep skin.
I purchased a 1967 5513 no box or papers ... back 15 years ago ...
I want to buy a rose gold daytona that is without papers nor boxes. Today, I checked with Rolex repair center and they say that they won't reissue the box and papers once they are lost.....
The box and Papers are VERY important ! It is not about the watch being
genuine or not. It is about the watch not being a watch that was stolen
in the streets and sold in the black market. Even a service card could
be issued for a watch that was stolen from the original owner. If you
have all the original stuff you have more chances on avoiding stolen itens.
Disagree.
A lot of watches WITH box and papers could also be stolen goods, especially in the last few years, with thieves particularly targeting safes, jewellery stores etc. where the watches are taken along with the boxes and papers.
Do tags really add value to a watch? Maybe some, but l would think not much. Wonder if anyone has done any real research on this subject. 🤗
I don’t understand why someone who values a watch would throw away the box and papers... if you value the watch, you value all the packaging!
They don’t give those type of paper anymore. Just a card with serial # on it.
how to u know ?
This is NOT so-called "papers" you're talking about. It's service paperwork or estimate paperwork. It's nice to have, but it's certainly not as good as having the original Rolex
guarantee paper.
I don't quite understand why is so important to hide the serial number
Never understood that myself
Forgers need real serial numbers to put on their watches. We don’t want to help them.
Great vid. Why do people hide serial numbers on forums? Thanks.
To not give counterfeiters a real serial.
It's Complicated but it makes no difference as soon as you open the case back and Rolex will know straight away it’s fake.
My mistress said she needed 10K to keep our secret. I said that I'd just give her husband my Rolex Submariner instead .... I'm still wearing the 14060m.
Buy from a trusted dealer and screw the box and papers, save at least $1000 if not more. You can't wear the box!
How can you be sure that your Rolex is water tight?
A watchmaker or authorized dealer can pressure test it for you.
Put it in a glass of water. Use a felt pen to mark water level. Come back in a week. If the water level dropped, it's not waterproof.
Box and papers-always.
why? do you lay them out and play with them?
It is not a "no date" It's a Submariner 14060M. Don't forget the Submariner date came after. If we're talking authenticity, then let's be authentic..
Lol money for the mistress :)
I have a new sub and a datejust41, I never touched the papers not once and all i ever wear are my micro brand watches :|
mintkendishin Enjoy life. Wear them.
Where the f is the wist-watch-check !??!?
Realistically how much for value does box and papers bring? I’d rather save some money and not get box and papers. Then again I’m not a collector.
On an 08 Sub? Like 400 dollars. An older watch would increase the value more. Like no one knew to save baseball cards until they did. Now the originals are worth a lot. Same with Rolex. Box and papers still add value but not like finding a 60's sub with box and papers.
It's not an issue if you want to buy and wear a watch but if you ever want to sell it the lack of box and papers could make things difficult. So maybe a pro tip for someone who LOVES a watch is to look for one without box and papers - as long as you don't plan on selling it. Did the Newman Daytona come with box and papers?
It's Complicated commenting on every question isn’t cool bro

When you die you can say I'm glad I did not use anything and just collected. Ha ha.
Lot of waisted time. Go to 8:43 to get the answer to the title of the video.
I'm not sure this brand makes me value horology over anything else on the market. VC and IWC have way way way more to offer.
Rolex ad just got done in Chicago selling directly to grey market. Patek was doing same.
Head office knows. No chance of plausible Deniaibility. I can't think of any in aus trying to hide it. Only Paul PLUta thinks their is some sort of majic behind the scenes.
They are backed by a Swiss charity. That's why they are awesome at bylaws. It's ALL smoke and mirrors. They gave two of these watches to 2 divers to map out under water pyramids during Cuban missile crisis. I wonder what they found with the Explorer 1 in the Himalayas. What is Richard mills really designed for. Not who..... What would you need Richard Mille for?
Isn't that fraud you are condoning/advocating, from the papers to the contact with the AD, etc? Seriously?
There is nothing fraudulent about having Rolex authenticate a watch which they manufactured. Silly man.
Depends on how you present them.
You ramble too much. I had to leave after 5 minutes. Couldn’t take anymore
Best thing you did was when you unsubbed Archie 2 years ago....worst thing was re subbing.....I watched the live stream you managed to carry him for a while....why bother.we've all seen how he treats what he considers to be his side kicks...but it looks to me like they are the real stars...must make you back ache carrying that fridge freezer around for a couple of hours
Terrible sound. 50% of a good video. Pls
Money this, worth that, investment this, box and papers that, blah blah blah. Boring! I'd rather have 30 interesting "shitters" which I enjoy and could care less about flipping value. "Smart money" actually goes into cash flow generating investments, not just shit you hope will go up. Watch collectors don't have a mental illness, they are just STUPID!
Why does a poodle trainer need a channel to talk about his peasant level steel Rolex?
