Very nice. Are you able to make a video about testing the volume of the speakers. Do you have them all on the same level?

In this case I do have them all at the same volume level. Great question! What would you like to learn about as it relates to speaker volume?

Great video. Shouldn't you have a separate monitor for the choir and the podium? Also shouldn't the monitor be on the stage area as it's way too far from the podium for any sound to be noticed?

Great ideas Yehoshua! But when the monitor is too close you risk feedback. The choir and podium were right next to each other, so this was the most efficient setup for this scenario.

@@ShirSoulMusic thanks for the response. In general, how far should the monitor be from the mic?

@@YehoshuaSolomon We like IEMs so as to avoid this whole megillah, but Its not as much about distance as it is about angle and volume. Without being too technical, the one of the more common reasons feedback happens is that the dispersion ("sound output")pattern of the monitor crosses paths with the Cardioid ("Pickup") pattern on the microphone. The next reason is usually that the monitor output level is higher than the mic pre level, which causes the mic to be overpowered by the sound from the speaker, generating an endless "feedback" loop. Two easy ways to deal with this are to make sure the mic level is not clashing with the speaker level and to put the speaker on a shallower angle to avoid the patterns crossing. Using a hyper-cardioid mic can help with that too, but that comes at risk of losing some sound if the cardioid pattern is too tight. Hope that helps. I can explain more about this and how to avoid it but frankly I am worried typing that much will wear out my keyboard lol. Sorry for the rant, good luck :)

@@goodjewishmusic I actually understood some of your technical terms from my old college days in my recording production classes. Nicely explained

Curious if you can touch on the subject of traveling as a band. How to deal with/approach the logistics of a flyaway gig or shipping/transporting gear safely and properly.

@@ShirSoulMusic Thanks! You can just shout out the "guys at SMILE2MEDIA" if that works. That would be great. We actually do a lot of work with people out of our area so it would be super cool to see how you guys approach it, maybe we can learn something :) (If you need roadies let me know lol :)
