In a simpler way of explaining how a virus works (in case you guys have online school during quarantine)
During infection, the virus particles would have to have a host (be in contact with a certain cell.) The virus would use its outer protein coat, covered in small molecular receptors to bind and join the membrane of a cell. Once joined, the virus would be able to replicate its own genetic material in the host cells and copy itself numerous times until it infects the entire organism.

All it said was that even bacteria can be infected by a virus, not that bacteria are viruses.
He basically just told the basics of viruses, how viruses take over cells in very wide steps. I came here to learn about the details of virus structure and DNA content. How did a piece of organic material evolve in a virus and how did the virus want to take over cells? He didn't even tell about how a virus alters a healthy cell's genome.

Am I the only one who loves watching science videos while I'm sick. Yes? Ok
I currently have a viral throat infection! It hurts so much, I can't swallow my own saliva, please send help. But it seriously hurts more then when my appendix ruptured and I got gangrene. But yes I find watching these while I'm sick fun, I love thinking of how my immune system is killing those little fuckers in the millions, so nice to think about.

IMO.. It is clear that a VIRUS is the code which took life from dormant.. to the multitude of species variation that exist now.
Either that... or viruses are an evolution of discarded code that retained it's "key" to the host. As one thing is clear.. there are literally a virus for every species... not that we know ALL species or ALL viruses.
We are looking at everything all wrong.
Rather then viewing things from the out in.. (which assumes the human as the priority of life)..
We should be looking from the inside to the out.

SWaG GoD I'm not well either got a bad chest keep coughing and have a wheeze . I have had not other symptoms thank goodness been 6 days now the doctor said I will start feeling better in a few days . But the cough will properly last longer also I m getting pain when I cough . But it's nothing to worry about each day I'm getting closer to getting better just need to keep drinking plenty of fluids .and I need to keep eating i still eat but only a little I lost weight .

If you actually do any real investigation (yeah, I did so now understand and why I no longer blindly accept bullshit) you will see MANY extensive attempts from years and years of trying, to spread a sickness through "contamination". Had blood actually transfused, people spitting in other mouths, coughing on them, sneezing on them etc. by the thousands and all from infected people trying to make healthy people get sick, thus proving it is introduced form outside the body. NOT ONE SINGLE INSTANCE OF CROSS CONTAMINATION COULD BE PROVED AT ALL.

Do viruses just float around like a spec of dust and last for years or do they die out if they fail to infect some one. It there any smaller thing, like DNA snip-it without a coat.
Viruses can't die as they are not living, they can however break, this can happen through many means such as UV radiation (sunlight), aggressive molecules such as ethanol that break their membrane, or simply by heat. If that does not happen then they do just float around.
With size, in a way yes, there are smaller things such as viruses such as many different molecules, DNA in the end is a molecule. Viruses can vary in sizes, the largest one can even be observed through a microscope.

Could the whole virus community be more complex in their interactions than the cell. Simple logic like mine would suggest they were there before the cells, and probably eventually formed them. They, the cells, like any stable society then gets attacked by the outsiders. If they didn't say viruses were non living then we could connect all life to everything. We'd be a product of the universe, not just of some magic that separated us from the rest of the universe. Really, anyone can see that viruses are the real mystery, a non living form that can take over a cell and use it mechanisms to reproduce. That's the magic we need to unravel, well eventually, it's a difficult road to even get to where we are, and I'm totally appreciative of what has been achieved so far.
Michael Harris they are made of proteins, witch naturaly degrade pretty fast unless sustained, replaced, or preserved. The amount of time they can spend floating around depends on what protein wall they have, and the environment they are found in. If they are in a hot, protein disolvent envirinment, they can last a few hours to a few days. If they are refigerated, or something like that, they can last for months. There are too many factors that play into the chances of survivability.
If they do not infect they "break" and it's the end of that strain. So if one thinks about it any virus that we come across today has been infecting continuously since the beginning.
Unlike TB for example. TB was gone for a while, right up until we started mining and we dug it up and got ourselves infected and now there are still biotic resistant strains due to us messing with nature. . . . . AGAIN!

The focus should be on the _malfunctioning_ of the cell where the virus is the object that disrupts the processes of the cell.

In a factory, machines make yellow cubes which contain code to assemble more machines but a yellow ball which has different code or interfering code get into the production line and disrupts the process and the machines bug out and produce yellow balls.
The balls are not active at all in this process.
If you want to take it further explaining how viruses mutate and have different strains: sometimes how the machines would make a different coloured cube (a mutation) the machines can make different coloured balls. (a mutation in the virus, like different strains of corona virus)
If you want a detailed and fleshed out understanding I suggest doing research. I only know this on a basic skeletal level.

At what temperature does a virus die/breakdown? What is the lowest temperature that the virus dies?
I am not a scientist but from what I have read is that virus’ spread more easily when it is cold. Which is also the reason why more people get sick during the winter. This is not always the case though because some people also get sick in the summer, but in general it is more common during the winter. The wuhan virus spread at a temperature of around 9 degrees Celsius. The 2003 sars virus died during the summer both because of high temperatures and because a large group of people became immune to the virus.
I was just thinking of viruses and temperatures then seen this lol as crunchy said seems right but no telling with this new corona some virus I think withstand different temps could be wrong though no expert.

@@Hateious It is very good to question people’s claims (especially on UA-cam ;)). I was explaining that instead of low temperatures high temperatures are more likely to effect the spread of a virus (when reviewing the seasonal flew). But this might not count for all viruses. When it comes to the new virus I am clueless (like pretty much the rest of the world). Like you said temperature might not even play a key factor. Let’s hope we can get over this as soon as possible.

I have a question,I was a heroin addict,but whilst on it I never got ill,no colds,flu,infections,anything,the only time I got ill was because of withdrawels(obviously).Whilst i was in rehab I was told that addicts never get ill,I'm not saying it isn't possible,I think in 15 years I got a very mild cold once and that was when I moved into a damp ground floor flat out of a high-rise and I had slight sniffles,that's all.Ive never had it explained why heroin or morphine or derivatives of them do this,for some reason your immune system is so much stronger,perhaps it's because your nor adrenaline levels are very low and everything moves much slower in your body,that's what withdrawels are,the nor adrenaline coming back to operate everything that the heroin did,and,your body overloads with it causing everything to go into overdrive,it's like a poison to you. Supposing a virus is phylogeneticamente (spelling?) closest to another virus e.g. infectious qualities, codons, but it very distant monological (sequencing) from another virus what does this tell us about the two viruses?
